• How to fix Solr - Server is shutting down issue?

  I was having a running Solr 4.1 on Windows Server 2008 R2. The Solr is deployed on Tomcat. However, today it stops suddenly, and while accessing Solr it gives following error. HTTP Status 503 - Server is shutting down type Status report message Server is shutting down description The requested service is not currently available. • Cisco Anyconnect Issue on HTC HD2

  Hello, We've just got a HTC HD2 handset through (UK - T-mobile); and we've installed the Cisco Anyconnect client. It connects ok but then after a few seconds disconnects, then reconnects. It then keeps cycling through in this way, and at no point can we even attempt to sync Exchange! Our ASA 5510 reports; Group User IP <149.254.217.2 SVC Message: 17/ERROR: Reconnecting to recover from error.. And from the phone log; 10:56:03Debug Function: CSocketTransport::getTransportMTU File: ..\IPC\SocketTransport.cpp Line: 1058 Invoked Function: CNetInterface::GetTcpIpMTU Return Code: -32571377 (0xFE0F000F) Description: NETINTERFACE_ERROR_INTERFACE_NOT_AVAILABLE Does anyone have any advice on why it's constantly disconnecting? The phone log does suggest a lack of service; but the phone can browse the net, make calls, etc and appears to have good signal throughout.   When you use iTunes to sync your videos with the iPhone the videos are always saved with no more than 640 pixels wide, if I am not wrong. What about the iPad? What is the size of videos iTunes syncs with iPad? 1024x768? and what if the video has a dimension below 1024x768? Will it scale up? or will it keep the video at low res and scale when you play? thanks.

  I'm looking to sync my fonts between my Macbook and iMac using a combination of FontExplorer X and Dropbox. I've seen a few blog posts that confirm that it is possible by using a symbolic link on the database folder. But for some reason I can't seem to find that folder (I'm thinking it may have been changed/moved in the newer releases of FEX?) It in this line [Application Support/Linotype/Font Explorer/fontexplorer x.fexdb] But the Linotype no longer exists in Application Support. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

  I'm using MSDeploy to create an artefact as a build step in NAnt. This particular build step is called on successful compilation. The artefact is then used to for deployment. I know that there is a setAcl provider for this specific purpose, but can this be used while creating a package?

• Getting Android drivers to work on Windows 8 Community Preview

  I made a post about this on android.stackexchange.com, and they referred me to here. I have an HTC Flyer and a Motorola Droid X, and for both, I've been unable to connect to USB debugging to do Android development. With the Motorola Droid X, the MotoHelper installer won't run, saying that I'm running an Unknown OS Version. With the HTC Flyer, HTC's Sync software installs successfully, but again the device doesn't connect. I realize that this is beta software, but is there anything that I can do to get this working? I've been relying on switching back to my laptop running Linux to test out my Android builds on the device. Of course, I'm not in any production environment - just playing around with the new OS, but not being able to write code on it makes less fun.

• OCS 2007 R2 Client not syncing Address book

  I've checked online for most solution for this issue, but nothing seems to be working. When I check the log files on our OCS 2007 R2 server, it is identifying 25 users in the address book. However, when I try and force a sync with the clients, they do not update. I can find the users if I search for them, but they are not coming down by themselves. Is there anything I can check or force from the client side? There is no address book file locally to delete and re-force down.

• Any screen capture software that captures webcam, microphone inputs too ?

  I am going to conduct a user study. Apart from capturing the screen while the user is interacting with the system, I also want to capture the video/audio of the user. Is there any software that in addition to capturing the screen also overlays it with the webcam/microphone inputs. The goal is to capture the complete experience of the user: key/mouse interactions with the system along with their facial/vocal responses. I know that I can maybe run a screen-capture software and also run a software for capturing webcam audio/video alongside and try to sync/overlay both these streams with timestamps. But I am going to be dealing with probably several hundred hours of data. So I am looking for a tool that can streamline the process for me amap and help me keep my sanity at end of the process. • Notepad and Textedit exchange

  I use both W7 and Mac OSX on several machines, with sugarsync to sync files and directories. So far no problem. However txt files created by W7 Notepad are displayed differently with Mac TextEdit. And when I edit the file with TextEdit, it looks different again in W7 Notepad. Edits in Notepad again look different on the Mac. Problem areas are: - tabs - carriage returns - fonts. I use and edit one particular txt file on a daily basis: services.txt (here I keep all my web accounts etc). What can I do to keep these exactly the same whilst editing on either Mac or W7? thanks Peter

• One Linux server has two timer

  The time on one of our Linux box is very weird. Whenever I call date 3 times, the 4th call will give a wrong time(usually 1 hour later). I have setup cron to sync with ntp server. We have 20+ similar servers, only this one has this problem. Any idea? Thanks. Because Alfresco will not allow its partners to work with the Community edition, I have found it devilishly tricky to find consultants that specialize in Alfresco to help me with this project. • SSH - using keys works, but not in a script

  I'm kind of confused, I have set up public keys between two servers and it works great, sort of. It only works if I ssh manually from a terminal. When I put the ssh command into a python script, it asks me for a password to login. The script is using rsync to sync up a directory from one server to the other. manual ssh command that works, no password prompt, automatic login: ssh -p 1234 [email protected] In the Python script: rsync --ignore-existing --delete --stats --progress -rp -e "ssh -p 1234" [email protected]:/directory/ /other/directory/ What gives? (obviously, ssh details are fake)

• Intel P6100 CPU and Mobile Intel® HM55 Express Chipset

  I have an Asus K52F-BBR5 notebook that uses an Intel P6100 ( 2GHZ 15x multiplier) and HM55 Express Chipset. I'm looking to replace it's 3GB with 8GB. The Crucial database seems to indicate that a PC3-8500 CAS 7 and PC3-10666 CAS 9 will both work. I'm not up to date on the latest DDR3 nomencalature and I'm wondering which would provide better performance. The price difference is negligible. Drawing on past experiences from many many years ago I could make an argument for either based on sync/async bus speed arguments and CAS latency differences but the truth is I don't know enough about the HM55 chipset to know which would be the correct choice. Does anyone know the answer or point me to information that would help me make the choice? I'm pretty sure the performance difference will be somewhat negligible also but still I'd like to make the optimal choice.

• Could I use directory junctions (symbolic link) to share music between 2 users in Windows 7

  I want to have 2 users be able to use the same itunes library and be able to sync an ipod which ever user is logged in. I tried making both the My Music folders point to the same folder, but that didn't work. One itunes would not store its library info in that folder. I was wondering if I could create a junction directory so that I can have both My Music folders redirect to a common library folder. I've only read about directory junctions , I havn't tried them.

• v4l - capture and watch at the same time

  Capturing v4l and line-in audio using mencoder works very well, but I would like to record real-time gameplay video from consoles plugged into the video card. I've used xawtv for this (Works quite well, can preview and record in real time), but when I enable any deinterlacing or aspect ration options the video fails to record. I have to record raw and re-encode the video with the appropriate filters later to get something workable. Other things I have tried: tvtime with xvidcap and jack audio capture - xvidcap drops frames and muxing the audio is impossible as it will go out of sync (I have not found muxer options that work to force a correct frame rate) mencoder capture to file, attempt to pipe tail of file to mplayer... mencoder works great, piping the file is far too heavy to attempt gameplay. Soooo, v4l capture and preview simultaneously, recommendations?

• Folder Redirection - Explorer requires manual refresh

  Hello, I am having an issue where - when a users my documents folder is redirected to a DFS share, windows explorer requires a manual refresh after creating a new folder, file, etc. (Interestingly, not when making a new briefcase) I have tried a number of MS knowledge base articles, a hot-fix and a registry change, all with no success. (( http:// support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823291 ; http:// support.microsoft.com/kb/873392 )) The problem only occurs when going through the my documents icon. If I map a home drive for the user to the exact same location (IE - H:\DFS\user\documents) , open that drive and make new folders, then there is no problem. Mapping my documents to H:\ also resolves the issue, however, as we need folder sync and people logging on off site with cached profiles this is not a workable solution (as H: will not map and there will be no access to their docs.) Has anyone managed to figure a fix for this? Thanks, Pete.

  I manage a fairly large/busy vBulletin forums (~2-3k requests per second, running on gigenet cloud), the database is ~ 10 GB (~9 milion posts, ~60 queries per second), lately MySQL have been grinding the disk like there's no tomorrow according to iotop and slowing the site. The last idea I can think of is using replication, but I'm not sure how much that would help and worried about database sync. I'm out of ideas, any tips on how to improve the situation would be highly appreciated. Specs : Debian Lenny 64bit ~12Ghz (6 cores) CPU, 7520gb RAM, 160gb disk. Kernel : 2.6.32-4-amd64 mysqld Ver 5.1.54-0.dotdeb.0 for debian-linux-gnu on x86_64 ((Debian)) Other software: vBulletin 3.8.4 memcached 1.2.2 PHP 5.3.5-0.dotdeb.0 (fpm-fcgi) (built: Jan 7 2011 00:07:27) lighttpd/1.4.28 (ssl) - a light and fast webserver PHP and vBulletin are configured to use memcached. • What's the best way to read mailing lists in 2011?

  I used to use Emacs/GNUS for reading mailing lists, but that feels very 1990. Plus, it doesn't sync my scoring across PCs. GMail is wonderful, but it kind of sucks for mailing lists. The essential "mute" feature doesn't even work unless the mail is in the Inbox. I'd read my mailing lists on the Google Groups site, but not all of them are Google Groups. Basically, I'm looking for the "Google Reader" of mailing lists. Any suggestions?

  Hello experts, I'm very much a beginner when it comes to Ubuntu and I've been learning the ropes by diving in and writing a (backend-language independent) web app framework that relies on apache, some clever mod_rewrites, Ubuntu permissions, groups, and users. One thing that really annoys my inner clean-freak is that there are loads of users and groups that are created when Ubuntu is installed that are never used (Or so I think). Since I'm just running a simple web app server, I would like to know: What users/groups can I remove?   I am making a web server running LAMP and want to access it using SSH. When I open the passwd file, I see all those accounts and I want to know for which ones I can put false. I have the following accounts: root, daemon, bin, sys, sync, games, man, lp, mail, news, uucp, proxy, www-data backup, list, irc, gnats, nobody, libuuid, syslog, messagebus, whoopsie, mandscape, sshd, eric Except root, sshd and eric, which ones should I not disable? How about www-data and sshd? Thanks a lot for your help.

• Change Management Software

  I manage an 80,000 user CIS application written in Uniface. Every form in the application, and many of its processes, are represented by .frm files. We have hundreds of these files and 5 instances of the application. Instances include multiple production installations which must be kept sync'd. We do not get MD5 from our vendor for files that are released to us as patches. We have been using a spreadsheet to track changes, but this is far from ideal. Is there a commercial application that can be purchased that will allow us to track changes to the instances? Thank you all! EDIT: Patches are released as zip files with either FRM files in them or SQL files or a mix of both. SQL files will contain statements that need to be run in Oracle. Patches are also assigned unique patch numbers.

  I tried to share the root / from a fedora 9 to a freeBSD while when I tried to mount the / folder it complained with "[tcp] nfs_server:/: RPCPROG_NFS: RPC: Program not registered".
