  • Apache2 WebServer not allowing me to view website/files in /var/www

    I used to be able to access websites/files that were stored in the directory /var/www I have not used this for a while, but now I have a need to store, media in this directory or in the directory/var/www/images I noticed that my apache web server wasnt running correctly so I did a complete package removal and then reinstalled, but I am still unable to access a test page inde.html in the directory /var/www/index.html by going to http://myipaddresshere/index.html Is there some initial configuration I need to do to allow me to store HTML and media files in this directory and be able to access them from the browser? I dont remember having to do anything before.

    Hi All, we have a great site which has been humming along nicely for about 5 months and then in May it went from a page load speed time of 3-5 secs to now an agonising 15+ secs!!! The host has been really helpful and has even shifted the site to a new server which is faster! I guess seeing as though we do not have the insight or your expertise we would ask the Serverfault community and see what this crowd of experts could recommend?   • How to block a website completely?

    I want to block some sites(e.g. youtube,news sites ), because I have a problem with procrastination and I find these websites affect my productivity very much. I used to block them by adding them to HOSTS file. However, gradually every time I want to take a break, I open the hosts file and comment my block again. Is there any way I can block the websites and cannot (at least a little bit hard, e.g. I have to reboot my pc) unblock them. I have no access to the router or any firewall, besides the ones on my computer. I just want to FORCE myself to work without any chance to procrastinate.

  • SSO to multiple websites from Sharepoint website

    We have an intranet based on Sharepoint 2010. In this intranet we have several links to other webservers within the same Active Directory, for example a link to our Outlook Web Access site on our Exchange 2010 environment. We have three different setups which visit this Sharepoint environment and the other webservers: Windows 7 clients that are a member of the Active Directory Home pc's that connect through a SSL VPN appliance Standalone thin clients (Windows 7 embedded) within the corporate network The goal is to let people only sign in once. In the first group this isn't a problem because the AD Integrated Authentication works fine and the Windows logon is passed on to Sharepoint and the other webservers. The second group is also working fine because of the LDAP integration that the SSL VPN appliance uses. The third group is however experiencing issues. They need to enter their credentials everytime they click a link to another webserver. They first need to enter credentials for accessing the Sharepoint environment. When clicking the link for their webmail they have to re-enter their credentials, and so on. Can someone tell me what the best solution would be to also get SSO working fine for the third group? Some extra information: We also have a Forefront TMG server in our environment. I read somewhere that Forefront might be part of a solution for this problem, but not sure how.     Hi I have a wireless broadband connection through a router and wireless modem. Everything works fine in Windows. However, in ubuntu on the same machine, websites seem to take longer to start loading. I think the dns lookup is slow. I think https sites may be slower, as Ijust can't log in to gmail. I am also using a mercurial repo with remote origin, and it takes forever (like 5 minutes) to push one small change. I think it is because it has to communicate through https multiple times. Should I change my dns server? I've seen that I don't have these problems at my work network (they have another dns server). This happens with the IPv4 settings being automatic (dhcp). When I change it to automatic (dhcp) addresses only, and add google's 8.8.8.8 in the dns servers, it still takes forever. Why is this happening?

  • HTML: adjusting the font size according to the screen size

    I am building an intranet website that is intended to be seen by mobile phones using one of the following resolutions: 240x320, 320x240, 360x640 and 800x352. All content is to be seen covering the full screen. No scroll should be necessary. I have developed, initially for 360x640. When this content is seen on 240x320 or 320x240 the letter is too big and the user has to scroll to see all content. Is there any way to scale the letters down or up automatically, so the content will fit on every screen size? I mean, adjusting the text font size according to the current screen resolution? thanks for any help.

Problem Exp : Suppose I upload 100 folders of Songs, each folder is for one Album. I want a way to generate a page with all the folders name (Album Name) in it. If user click on the page, they should be taken to a page where they get list of all songs in the album. Clicking on any song name will let them download it.   • Should I use the same Google Analytics code for my website and native mobile app?

    My website is a forum. The native mobile app's only function is to access the forum and provide a better experience than can be provided through the browser. Given that the same content is being accessed, should I use the same Google Analytics tracking code? Or should I create a new property and select "Not a website" when it asks for the website? I was not able to find anything that discussed this and what would be best practice, given that the same content is being accessed. Thanks!

    There might have been a restriction on originating (making) calls (voice or data) from mobile phones without an explicit user permission i.e. a window would pop-up, asking the user to press 'Yes'/approve or 'No'/cancel for a call attempt made by a software application on that cellphone/mobile. There seems though to exist API for making calls, voice calls and data calls, on various embedded OS like WM, Symbian and Android. Do they require a user button-press then?

  • MVC4 dynamically changing master layout page doesn't work on first load

    I have an MVC4 mobile project that I want to add a desktop (non mobile) page to for some users. I have added a new desktop master page and assigned my view to use it. The first time I navigate to the page it renders using jquerymobile which appears to somehow be cached from the previous screen. If I hit F5 to refresh the page it displays using the assigned desktop masterpage correctly. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Any insight appreciated

    I am using maven to generate a website for a Java project, which uses APT "Almost Plain Text" as a wiki like markup. Maven takes this and turns it into XHTML. I already have a custom template/skin that I am using for the site, but the index page will have a couple of extra custom design elements that are beyond the capabilities of APT. So how can you add xhtml to the apt file so that it gets correctly embedded in the final output? Thanks.

Now I'm wondering if that same functionality exists for say a Nokia (Symbian) phone? Is there a way to set up the link to open the Google maps app on the Symbian phone?

It let users submit links to their favorite books for various programming languages, and write a short blurb about why they're so good.     Where can I read more about creating linked slides like at the top of nytimes.com, slate.com, yahoo.com, nyu.edu, etc. I assume it's javascript, but I'm not sure what it's called, so I'm not sure how to look it up. I want to create a box at the top of a website with blocks of html text which slide in sequence if the user clicks next or after a certain amount of time. Where can I read more about this?
