• Chrome is reporting GMail has Invalid Server Certificate, how do I find out who's fiddling with my certs?

  Chrome is giving the following warning when ever I try and visit GMail or a bunch of other SSL sites. Invalid Server Certificate You attempted to reach mail.google.com, but the server presented an invalid certificate. You cannot proceed because the website operator has requested heightened security for this domain. If not, can anyone independent of OpenCandy and their affiliates verify that /NOCANDY works? Background: About to install WinSCP onto a fresh Windows installation, and found out that new versions have OpenCandy associated with their installer. For the sake of balance, here's a link to WinSCP's FAQ on OpenCandy. The claim about /NOCANDY working appears on WinSCP's web site, but the same boilerplate appears on other OpenCandy web sites. If the OpenCandy people are offended by the tag "spyare": sorry, but it's the main tag here, rather than "adware".

• Could not Upload file in network mapped drive using asp.net/vb.net

  I have tried several times to upload file remotely to a mapped network drive, but it is raising an exception: Could not find a part of the path 'X:\test\testing.wav'. I read through various internet /blog/ Microsoft help sites, but I still don't know what is wrong. Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how I can correct it? It works fine when I am uploading to a local drive as a test. It is also working When I am running the code from the development server, but if I try with published code, then it fails. :(

  Hello, I am a programmer, trying to launch my first website.. through different helpful posts in sf and others, I setup an account with Linode and set up a slice (Debian, Apache, ..etc). I have a Drupal site under development, and like to have a test site in the Linode server as well. Now, I like to have a site setup with the following requirement. What is the best way to setup and protect the test site along with the actual (production) site?. Is virtual host is the answer? To protect the test site, is .htaccess authentication sufficient to prevent access from public and robots? I also modifying the theme, database contents etc, so having two sites under one drupal installation may not be good idea . what do u suggest? thanks in advance. bsreekanth.

• Linux Programs for pulling measurements from graphics

  As a front-end developer, I'm often given graphics of web sites and told pretty much, "Make it work." I've recently started working on Linux 100% of the time and was wondering if there's any programs out there that're good for "digesting" graphics. All I do, pretty much, is draw little selection boxes and takes notes on their dimensions; I also slice out a piece of the graphic (i.e. copy out just the part of the graphic I need for to make the same effect in CSS). Before now I've been very happy with Fireworks, but I need something for Linux, any suggestions? As a note, I mainly deal with pixel based graphics, so the program being vector based isn't a necessity.

What I really want is have two same exact copies of the site sits in one IIS 7 server and load balance users among both sites. when we deploy a new version of the site, we will bring site1 down (users in site1 automatically routes to site2 on next postback), when site1 deployment is complete, bring site2 down (users in site2 being routes to site1 on next postback). is this even possible?

Are there any caveats to this approach? Can one application pool, for example, hog all the CPU, Memory, Etc...? 2) When should you allow multiple worker processes in an application pool. When should you not? 3) Can private memory limit be used to prevent one application pool from interfering with another? Will setting it too low cause valid requests to recycle the application pool without getting a valid response? 4) What is the difference between private and virtual memory limits? 5) Are there compelling reasons NOT to run one application pool per site? • How do I configure IIS so my Web.config is determined by URL?

  I am running a test rig with IIS6 serving an ASP.NET (and Sharepoint) web site. We have several clients, and so we have custom root Web.config files for each client. For this test rig, I want to just serve straight from the Trunk of our source control. However, I'd like to be able to select different root Web.config files based on the URL (or port or whatever) I use to access the site, so I can just use one checkout of the source and run all the sites with their appropriate settings. • What decent audio recording interfaces are well supported in Windows 7 64bit?

  I currently have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. It permits me to insert a 1/4" jack line from bass guitar and play along with pre-recorded piano music. This worked fine under Windows XP. I am moving to Windows 7 64 bit (dual boot for now), and Creative may not develop fully working drivers for this component. Looking around, I don't see Windows 7 support mentioned at product web sites from E-MU, Roland, M-Audio, etc. Even at Creative, the posting of available drivers for Windows 7 is deceptive, as they do not adequately support recording (latency, distortion). My local music store shrugs and says to stay with Win XP. In some cases, the Vista drivers will work in Win 7. So I need real world feedback on this. I should also mention I'm not impressed with available USB interfaces - they have too low of a signal to noise ratio for my purposes. That leaves PCI, or possibly firewire devices (never tried one yet).

I saw on net the solution for this problem is changing onet.xml and running script on sql database for the site, I am eager to better answer than this but if its the same I have few doubts on it: First,As my site template is not customised its the collobartion portal so I am not sure where exactly to change the onet.xml. Second, I am using the same database as of my webapplication running that script would not affect anything else on the main site of mine?

  I'm trying to install Umbraco CMS on Windows 7 64-bit and I get the following exception: [HttpException (0x80004005): Could not load file or assembly 'ImageManipulation, Version=1.0.2105.41209, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. Failed to grant minimum permission required. The application pool's trust mode is set to 'Full', all the user permissions are just as on other sites hosted on the same machine. I got through this tutorial http://www.howtoforge.com/installing-php-5.3-nginx-and-php-fpm-on-ubuntu-debian But I now get the following error: unknown directive "fastcgi_split_path_info" in /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default:28 Anyone know what might be causing the problem? I cant find any reference to the problem on Google Also I have heard conflicting things about Nginx vs Apache. Some say use one, some say the other. Im using allsorts such as rewrite rules, proxies etc. Am I setting myself up for a fall by using Nginx? • Apache, modifying response codes from 404 to 301

  Hi, I'm running a magento installation on an apache server. There are many pages indexed in both google and linked to from external sites. I can't use 301 redirects in a .htaccess file as I can't be sure I will catch all the links. At the moment all requests are rewritten through magento and if a request isn't found magento returns a 404 File not Found. Is there a way of using one of the apache modules to filter the response* from magento and if a 404 Not Found is being sent back then replace the response with a standard 301 Redirect to the home page? E.g. Request to Magento -- Apache -- Rewrite to Magento index.php page -- page processed. Response if request exists -- return results (200) if request doesn't exist -- return 404 -- apache filter change response -- return 301 redirect to / I appreciate any help. • Windows XP app not able to talk to web server

  My company makes an app built with Adobe Air which talks to our webserver for user authentication. Some users are not able to login. Running Charles Proxy tells us that the "host cannot be found." Loading up the webserver in IE, initially we weren't able to visit the site, we had to add it to trusted sites. My guess is that some security setting is denying our app as well. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as where to make security looser for our app?

  As we have some PC's still running Windows 2000 and this is beyond our control we use IE 6 so we can keep the IE platform standard. Recently on some XP and Win2000 PCs IE has been crashing with the Encountered a Problem and Needs to close do you want to send a message to Microsoft error when entering some sites. This happens even after a format reinstall with minimal software load (Office 2000, some avaya software, kaspersky, tapiex.dll). The module pointed to in the error report is ntl.dll. There are lots of reports over the net of the problem but has anyone resolved this issue? (Latest IE6 updates are installed). Also please note there were no 3rd party IE addons, spyware, viruses or adware Hope someone can help.

• Azure VM with many IPs or SSL certificates

  I am looking to move our hosting environment to Azure and by doing so have created a sandpit VM to figure things out. We host around 300-400 websites in IIS and about 2% of these sites have unique, non wildcard certificates all requiring a unique public IP in our current setup. Can you get a range of IPs pointing to 1 VM/Endpoint? Or is it possible to create an SSL proxy? I've never created an SSL proxy but like the idea of it. I'd need advise here on how to proceed if this is the best option. Sorry if this has been answered! Sorry also if my question isn't worded eloquently.

  Hello, I am moving an e-commerce site to a new server. All has been successful and its time to change the DNS for the domain. It's a relatively popular site and I fear that during propagation orders will be split between the old database and the new one. The databases do contain content that is dependent of the server it is on (Cache path, upload directory, etc.) so I can't just point the old site to the new database. • Connection drops while transferring large files to one server on a network

  My company has two sites, each with their own LAN, using site to site VPN tunnel to connect the two sites. When transferring files (especially larger files) from site1 to site2 server1, the file transfer fails. I don't think this can be a VPN issue because transferring the same files to site2 server2 which is on the same network as server1 works fine. Pings to server1 and server2 at site2 from site1 are about the same, mostly 19/20ms with the odd one up to 50ms. As server1 is DB server with a high load I thought the NIC maybe overloaded, but a transfer from site2 server1 to site2 server2 works fine, and that uses the same NIC on server1 as transfers from site1 to site2 server1.
