Update to Lion, Cannot boot into Bootcamp partitions, but can use in Parallels

Using Snow Leopard had boot camp partitions for both XP and Windows 7. These were both accessible through Parallels 7 or through direct boot through boot camp. Each is on a separate partitioned hard drive. Upgraded to Lion, both were still accessible through Parallels, but have not been able to directly boot into either. Unfortunately is important to me to be able to boot into a least the Windows 7 partition. Have tried virtually everything I can find online. Seen similar issues, but nothing where they were usable virtually but not directly. Nothing works. reFit, correcting the master boot records in Windows with command line, have wiped the Windows 7 partition clean and reinstalled Windows 7 several times 1st using Boot Camp4 drivers then using Boot Camp3 drivers. Have tried resizing the bootcamp partitions. When booting into the Boot Camp partitions directly will go all the way to seeing the desktop before it fails, where I get a Windows error screen. I can see all the disks and their appropriate partitions both in OS X disk utility as well as the Windows installer utility.

How to update all MathType formulas in the MS Word for Mac

When I open .doc file in Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 and MathType 6 installed I get "U" in all formulas instead of "v". The original file was made in MSWord 2003 for Windows with MathType 6. But when I click and open the formula in MathType 6 and then save it back I get correct formula as it was originally written with "v". I am trying to figure out how to I trigger all formulas to be opened in MathType in batch without clicking on each. Or could it be fixed in another way

Update a single field from a single entity with ria-services

There are situations where I only want to update a specific field of a single entity in the database. I loaded the entities of that type into my silverlight application, and I know they are constantly changing on the server... but there is one field which has to be set by the silverlight client... the server will only read it. How can I just send the new data for that field to the server? Example an Entity called "TextField". I have a list of TextFields loaded in the silverlight application and every now and then the user will update the Preload (string) property of an entity and that has to go back to the server without changing anything else on the server. I tried adding a simple SetPreloadText(...) method to the DomainService but that just makes Silverlight crash with some odd error code. Is there a way to this? Am I working against the idea of Silverlight here? I really don't want to send the entire object back because know that at any given time the version on the client will most likely be out of date. (which is ok for this specific application)

Monitoring MySQL SELECT/WRITE/UPDATE/SLOW queries in Nagios

There's ways to get performance graphs with several monitoring software packages out there such as ZenOSS. There's a plugin available that will graph MySQL based SELECT/WRITE/SLOW queries in a nice rrd style graph. I'm curious if there is a way to also get similar graphs available in Nagios 3.0? I know Nagios has tools like pnp and can integrate rrd, but is there something readily available that can plugin to monitor those MySQL specifics?

Problem with arrow keys in Midnight Commander under MacOS after update to 10.6.3

After updating MacOS to 10.6.3 the arrow keys do not work in MC anymore - instead of moving cursor it types, for instance, B for down key, C for right key. Although, if I quit MC and try it in terminal, then it works. Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there any solution for this?

Last friday we installed some windows updates. After the reboot tomcat doesnt start with error: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap We reduced the parameter -Xmx1024m to -Xmx768m and now tomcat starts. I've got a C# program that talks to an instrument (spectrum analyzer) over a network. I need to be able to change a large number of parameters in the instrument and read them back into my program. I want to use backgroundworker to do the actual talking to the instrument so that UI performance doesn't suffer. The way this works is - 1) send command to the instrument with new parameter value, 2) read parameter back from the instrument so I can see what actually happened (for example, I try to set the center frequency above the max that the instrument will handle and it tells me what it will actually handle), and 3) update a program variable with the actual value received from the instrument. Because there are quite a few parameters to be updated I'd like to use a generic routine. The part I can't seem to get my brain around is updating the variable in my code with what comes back from the instrument via backgroundworker. If I used a separate RunWorkerCompleted event for each parameter I could hardwire the update directly to the variable. I'd like to come up with a way of using a single routine that's capable of updating any of the variables. All I can come up with is passing a reference number (different for each parameter) and using a switch statement in the RunWorkerCompleted handler to direct the result. There has to be a better way. Linq Query to Update Nested Array Items?

I have an object structure generated from xsd.exe. Roughly, it consists of 3 nested arrays: protocols, sources and reports. The xml looks like this: <protocols> <protocol> <source> <report /> <report /> </source> <source> <report /> <report /> </source> </protocol>  </protocols> I need to update a single "Report" within the data structure. A brute force algorithm is shown below. I know that this could be done using XDocument and Linq, but I'd prefer to update the data structure and then serialize the structure back to disk. Thoughts? I loaded 83 rows from my CSV file, but when I try to update the SQLite database I get 0 rows... I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. PHP make install seems to end abruptly and does not update libphp5.so

dns update frequency

I was looking after the frequency of dns updates, since I had to change the location fo the vps that hosts the domain contents. What I ussualy read is that it takes up to 72 hours to get these changes propagated, sometimes this can be sooner based on your location. I changed the nameservers for the domain vasco-da-gama.nl about a week ago. When I ping the domain name from different locations it still points the old vps (which does not exist anymore). I was wondering if its normal that it can take this long for the change to point my new vps? If I might have done something wrong here, where should I look for it (it looks all ok, when I check it). If it is reachable from your location (if so, its probably a matter of time it will propagate to my location).

Has there been a Firefox update recently?

Trying again to ask a PROGRAMMING question because of the over-zealous closing off of what is equally a programming question before allowing the poster to clarify. The latest version of Firefox (v3.6.3) is breaking websites, mine included. I make heavy use of the Infragistic NetAdvantage controls. These, because of their heavy JavaScript reliance and occasional lack of quality control, tend to suffer through browser updates sometimes requiring a hotfix. So the question is... has there been a Firefox release recently that has either introduced a bug, tightening up of some standard, bug fix which might have broken a previous workaround (often the case) etc? I'm guessing around JavaScript but that's a guess hence the reason for asking a group of programmers...

I have a PreferenceActivity with a bunch of (Sub)PreferenceScreens. Each such (Sub)PreferenceScreen represents an account and has the account-username as its title. PreferenceScreen root = mgr.createPreferenceScreen(this); for (MyAccountClass account : myAccounts) { final PreferenceScreen accScreen = mgr.createPreferenceScreen(this); accScreen.setTitle(account.getUsername()); // add Preferences to the accScreen // (for instance a "change username"-preference) ... root.add(accScreen); } As the user enters sub-PreferenceScreen, and edits the account user-name, I want the outer PreferenceScreen to update it's PreferenceScreen-title for the account in question. I've tried to add... usernamePref.setOnPreferenceChangeListener(new OnPreferenceChangeListener() { public boolean onPreferenceChange(Preference preference, Object newValue) { accScreen.setTitle(newValue.toString()); return true; } }); ...but the accScreen.setTitle does not seem to take effect on the outer PreferenceScreen. I've note that calling onContentChanged(); actually makes it work, but I realize that this is probably not the preferred way of doing it. I suspect I should call postInvalidate() on some view somewhere, but I really can't figure out on what view and when to do it. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2396153/preferencescreen-androidsummary-update may be experiening the same problem as me. Any help appreciated.

VMXNET3 nic loses the ability to update ARP table after N hours

I have a fedora 18 VM that stops updating the arp table on eth1 after running for a number of hours to days. There are other VMs on the same hypervisor that can access all of the same networks without issue. A tcpdump of the offending NIC shows only ARP broadcasts but no responses. None of the other VMs on the vDS see the ARP broadcasts from the offending NIC. The only way I can currently solve the problem is to reboot the VM and then everything works for a while. I've tried changing the port on the vDS and even flipping the network configurations after I lose eth1's ARP table, but the ARP problem follows eth1 but I can access the machines that were originally on eth1. If I statically add the arp entries for machines on the same subnet I have no problems with connectivity. The Hypervisor is an HP BL49X series with flex-10 network modules. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Update multiple Windows 8 to 8.1

My office has multiple Windows 8 Machines and slow internet. Is there a place online I can download the 8.1 upgrade from home on my fast internet so I can do a network or usb install at the office? I don't want to have to download 3GB+ of updates on each and every machine through the Windows store over our slow internet connection. The Windows 8 PC's in question are OEM Windows 8 Home, upgraded to Windows 8 Pro via the online Pro pack upgrade.

Eclipse plugin installation/update issues

I've installed the following Team repository plugins (along with it's dependencies) for Eclipse Helios (using Eclipse updater). MercurialEclipse 1.7.1 Subclipse 1.6.17 Subversive SVN All of these are the latest in Eclipse Marketplace. My problem is when I go to Eclipse "Preferences", under "Team" I only see CVS but under Eclipse Marketplace, I can see that these plugins are installed (it gives me an option to uninstall it). How do I configure my Team repositories to reflect under "Team" in Preferences? Also, there is an update for "Eclipse IDE for Java EE developers, but when I try to update it, the following error occurs: Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency. Cannot uninstall XP SP3 update

I need to uninstall Service Pack 3 because it broke a program I rely on (FrameMaker). I have done this before on other computers using Microsoft's SP3 uninstall instructions. However, on this computer, SP3 is not listed in Add/Remove Programs (and, yes, I have checked the "Show Updates" checkbox), there's no "$NtServicePackUninstall$" restore directory, and either Windows didn't create a restore point for the SP3 install or it has fallen off of the list of restorable points. Does anyone know of any other options?

PHP execution timing out after update

Originally posted on stackoverflow, but I think it'd be more appropriate here. Needed Finfo but deleted msi package, so uninstalled php 5.3.0, downloaded 5.3.2 and installed. Now all my sites have spurious errors and execution time outs. Originally updated with VC9 build but then realised error and updated with VC6 (with same problem).
