  • windows server 2008 instance on KVM stuck in 'Pause' mode

    I have a windows Server 2008 instance as a guest on KVM. When I tried to run it via virtual machine manager, the process got frozen after few seconds and trying to resume the process lead to this error from virt-manager: Error unpausing domain: internal error unable to execute QEMU command 'cont': Resetting the Virtual Machine is required I tried to Reboot it without any success. Any help will be highly appreciated.

  • Wherer can I get Windows XP Images for WMware Workstation

    Does anyone know where I can get windows images for vmware. I know Microsoft gives away the images for Virtual PC. These images work pretty well, but when I try to import them in VMware I need to activate the copies again, because the virtual hardware they use is just to different. I want Images of different versions of windows 2000,xp,vista. Does anyone where I can download them, or do I need to build them from CD.

  • Slow ASP.NET site using IIS6

    Hi, I have two servers, one virtual and one physical, running the exact same site on both machines. Both machines are running on ~ 2% CPU load and very much RAM available for usage. Somehow the site, with cache turned off ofcourse, loads in ~ 500ms on the virtual machine (which is a dev-server by the way) but almost 3 full seconds on the physical machine. They're both running Server 2003, IIS6 aswell as asp.net version 2.0 Any ideas where I can start troubleshoot this? Best Regards LP

I sure could use one, so much that I'm even tempted to write one, but lack the time to do so. EDIT: I am not looking for monitoring application. I'm looking for a asp.net page that will show me all the relevant information about my server (like vpsinfo) without the hassle.

I have not made decision where to put some core services as: dhcp, ldap, dns - which are critical for all network infrastructure. There are two possibilities: Configure them as redundant HA services on cluster hosts. Pack them all into dedicated virtual machine. What is the best practice?

  • Postfix removing domain from user names before passing to Dovecot for IMAP authentication

    In IMAP authentication with Dovecot, Postfix is stripping the domain name from virtual users who share a name with a local user, causing them to fail authentication. Virtual users without local accounts don't have this problem. How can I prevent this? Failing an answer, how can I debug Postfix to see what's going on? I've turned on every debugging option I can get, and I'm not seeing anything helpful in the logs.

    I have a multi purpose server running ArchLinux that currently serves multiple virtual hosts from /var/www/domains/EXAMPLE.COM/html /var/www/domains/EXAMPLE2.COM/html I deploy those websites (mostly using Kohana framework) using a Jenkins job by checking out the project, removes the .git folder and ssh-copy the tar.gz to /var/www/domains/ on the server and untars it. Since I don't want to have to re-install phpMyAdmin after each deploy, I decided to use an alias. I would like the alias to be something like /.tools/phpMyAdmin/ so I could have more "tools" later if I wanted to. However this only works for virtual and the model that I made the image on how can i extend compatibility to another device?     I connect to a remote machine from the local machine and use virsh console to enter the virtual machine. I don't know how to exactly depict how it works. Normally it works well, but when I run VIM: Then it can't be recovered unless I cut the connection up: It's very hard to work with a broken terminal. Any advice? My terminal works well on my local machine and the remote machine in which the virtual machine runs.

    I'm running Metasploit from Win 7 x64, and I've set up my Metasploitable 2 virtual machine on VMware Player. I can ping Metasploitable's IP address from the Metasploit console, however if I use nmap it says: Note: Host seems down. If it is really up, but blocking our ping probles, try -Pn I try it with the -Pn switch, it says Nmap done: 1 IP address (0 hosts up) scanned in 0.64 seconds I've disabled my Windows firewall and I'm running Metasploit as admin. Why can't I nmap my virtual machine?

  • Removing phantom applications from Application Pools in IIS7

    I have an application in one of my application pools that has a virtual path of '/Site/login.aspx'. I want to remove it but it no longer exists on my computer and it's causing me issues setting up AppFabric. I understand that you can remove these phantom applications by recreating the application in IIS and then hitting Remove. That will get rid of the application from the pool but in this case I can't recreate the application due to the /login.aspx in the virtual path Any ideas how I remove this erroneous entry? Thanks

  • Routing table with two NIC adapters in libvirt/KVM

    I created a virtual NAT network (192.168.100.0/24 network) in my libvirt and new guest with two interfaces - one in this network, one as bridged (10.34.1.0/24 network) to the local LAN. The reason for that is I need to have my own virtual network for my DHCP/TFTP/DNS testing and still want to access my guest externally from my LAN. On both networks I have working DHCP, both giving them IP addresses. When I setup NAT port forwarding (e.g. for ssh), I can connect to the eth0 (virtual network), everything is fine. But when I try to access the eth1 via bridged interface, I have no response. I guess I have problem with my routing table - outgoing packets are routed to the virtual NAT network (which has access to the machine I am connecting from - I can ping it). But I am not sure if this setup is correct.     I've got an Apache (2) server with several virtual hosts. I currently have mysql db locks problems on one virtual host. A common and practical way to easy release those locks and unlock the site (while the dev team refactor its application to avoid the locks), is to simply restart the apache server.   • Computer suddenly dies; screen displays weird flickering lines, then restarts

    I've been having this terrible problem for a little while and just managed to get a picture of 'dead screen' for the first time and I am posting it to seek help. Randomly, at irregular intervals (typically once a week), while working on something (it's been different things every time) my computer will just suddenly go dead - the screen turns to exactly the picture below (the lines flicker a little bit), it hangs there for a few seconds and then restarts. Obviously this is extremely frustrating and I want to try to stop it. I've searched numerous postings with similar keywords but nothing exactly the same as mine. Does anyone have any idea what might be the cause of this? I would post all my system settings and installed programs but the list is long and I don't know how much relevance each item would be. If you'd like to know something specific, please comment and I'll let you know whatever you need.
