  I am having a web form initially which have href as follows <a href="downloadInfo.aspx">ACH File Management System Trail(msi)</a> <a href="downloadInfo.aspx">ACH File Management System Trail(zip)</a> These are my two anchor tags when i click on this i will redirect both to a same page where user has to fill details and a mail will be send to the user for the given mail id. When the user clicks on mail i would like to have the download for which he opted to download. If msi means i would like to prompt msi file to be downloaded and if zip it should be downloaded I need this to be worked with out using query-string

  action: User/Details View: Details In my 'Details' view, a user can click on an actionlink that goes to the action :User/UserBehavior From which I again return a "Details" View. the url shows http://User/UserBehavior If I return redirectToAction to the Details action, I still get the "UserBehavior" action in the url. how do I redirect and present the new url of the action? isnt that the way its supposed to be? TO CLARIFY: WHEN YOU USE REDIRECTTOACTION, SHOULD THE URL IN THE BROWSER SHOW THE ORIGINAL ACTION OR THE ACTION YOU REDIRECTED TO?

• Django: do I need to do HttpResponseRedirect to render a simple string after a POST?

  I've got a mobile app that makes POST requests to a Django site. I want to return a simple string (not a template-based page) after the app makes the POST request, saying 'Success' or 'Failure' as appropriate. However I know that after a POST request in Django you're supposed to do a HttpResponseRedirect. But, do I really need to redirect to another page and write a new function to handle it, all to output a string? And if so, how do I pass the success/failure status of the app in the HttpResponseRedirect, since it's only supposed to take one argument? Thanks!

• How to check if file exists in Apache

  I've set this up successfully in IIS in the past, but i'm not sure how to do it in Apache. I want to check to see if a file exists, whether it be: /path/to/file.php /path/to/file.cfm /path/to/file.html /path/to/ If the file does not exist, I want to redirect to /404/, where I have a file that does all 404 related handling. Lastly, when doing this in IIS, it gave me a CGI.QUERY_STRING of something like: 404;http://example.com/prettyurl Can apache do the same? This is what i've tried to so far, to no success.   Is there a HTTP status code to tell Google (and others) to go away, index me again later? Basically, one that semantically tells clients that the site is down for maintenance? The ones I have considered are 304 => Not modified 307 => Temporary redirect 410 => Gone 503 => Service Unavailable I'm leaning towards the last one, but was just curious as to which one was proper choice.   I have need to call a webservice from an HTML helper extension I created (combinbation of Action and Image) and placed in the view as follows @Html.ActionImage("CallService", new { number = ViewBag.number, code = ViewBag.code, account = ViewBag.account, amount = ViewBag.amount }, "~/Content/sb_200x61.png", "Start the Process") I am making the action call and it calls the service and returns a string of the html response, but it doesn't look right. I am using the typical HttpWebRequest to do the POST Action in C# code. Here is the controller action code: public MvcHtmlString CallService(string number, string code, string account, decimal? amount) { string response = MyService.ServiceLayer.ClassName.callService(number, code, account, Convert.ToDecimal(amount); MvcHtmlString mstring = new MvcHtmlString(response); return mstring; } When it returns the string back it's looking like the all styling and js is removed. It that due to MvcHtmlString? Is there a better way to do this? Redirect somehow ?

• Feedly "Login with Google" system

  I'm trying to figure out how Feedly does their login with Google link. Based on the redirect URL it passes I'd think it was a google service, but at the same time, the login page says it's not associated "Note: Google is not affiliated with feedly. Your password will not be shared with the feedly service". Anyone know what exactly powers this? Is it Federated login with some special domain trickery allowing them to upload a site screenshot and description? Or is it something else.

  I'm learning about PHP sessions for user authentication on my website. I know how to restrict the viewing of a complete page using sessions (simply check if the 'uid' session variable is set and if it is, show content, if not redirect to an error). However I'm trying to figure out the best way to selectively show and hide different objects (div, text, images) based on if a user is logged in or not. Is it as simple as checking for the 'uid' session variable and displaying based on if it set or not? Is there a more efficient way of doing this id there are a lot of conditional elements on a page?

I am capturing that converted xml file in a string like below String ouputXML = xmlfile; Noe If I pring the ouputXML on the console of IBM RSA in the proper format only it is printing but my requirement is I need to redirect outputXML in to an XML instead of printing in IBm RSA console. I am able to do this but the problem is if I open the craetd XML file the xml structure is not proper , it is showing so many special characters . Please help me !!

• Mod_rewrite not working properly

  I have this in my .htaccess file... RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/invite$ /invite.html It's meant to let a user access this url: http://mysite.com/invite and display the invite.html page. I don't want to redirect the user, but just show them the invite.html page from a better looking URL. When I browse to http://mysite.com/invite though, I get a 404 not found error. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I've tried looking at tutorials for using mod_rewrite but I seem to be doing what they're telling me too... Thanks!

• CakePHP delete() function is not working

  Hello, Im just cracking open cakePHP (v1.3.2). I set it up on my local wamp server, seems to work fine except the delete() function doesn't work. I'm following their blog tutorial exactly, its as simple as it can be so I don't understand why its not working. Heres the function in my PostsController class: function delete($id = NULL) { $this->Post->delete($id); $this->Session->setFlash('The post with id: '.$id.' has been deleted.'); $this->redirect(array('action'=>'index')); } The "Delete" link's url looks like http://localhost/posts/delete/id:1 (where the id number matches the particular post, obviously). It redirects and sets the flash message, however there is no number where $id should be in the message, and the post isn't deleted. It seems the proper id is passed through the url, but I don't think it is getting into the function. I dont get it. Any ideas???

• getting error 500 with .htaccess when pointing an existing file / folder (mod_rewrite)

  i made a simple .htaccess file to expose the problem. I want that all request made to the folder redirect to a subfolder file "app/index.php" RewriteEngine On RewriteRule (.*) app/index.php [QSA] And this works fine on with the basic url of my hoster (like http//myname.hosting.com/htaccessFolder The problem is that i have a domain pointing on this folder, and when accessed to it, server return Internal Server Error 500. If i do this : RewriteEngine On RewriteRule (.*) somefile.php [QSA] Redirection works only when file does not exists (404 not found error occured). when the file exists i get a 500 error too. I've asked the hosting support without success for the moment..

  I am trying to set up user generated sub domains for my PHP application. When I go to sub.domain.com and if I upload an index.html file it works fine, however if I use index.php it gives me a "Internal Server Error 500" message I have done the steps below to get subdomains working STEP 1: Edited my DNZ zone file and appended *.domain.com. IN A 91.111.111.111 STEP 2: Appended to httpd.conf the following: <VirtualHost 91.111.111.111:80> ServerName domain.com ServerAlias *.domain.com DocumentRoot /home/domain/public_html/sub <Directory "/home/domain/public_html/sub"> Options -Indexes Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride All </Directory> </VirtualHost> Step 3: Tested by uploading an index.html file to the document directory in step 2, and works fine. Tried with an index.php gives a internal server error and then I looked into Apache error log and shows error for a redirect loop more than 10 times Update: getting this error: No user or group set - set suPHP_UserGroup Any ideas why I can not use any .php file in the directory?

To prevent other people accessing the service using PHP CURL I would normally check the request has come from mysite, and if they are not then just redirect to my home page e.g. if($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] != "http://www.mysite.com"){ header('location: http://www.mysite.com'); exit; } I read in the PHP holy bible: http://www.php.net/manual/en/reserved.variables.server.php that "Not all user agents will set this, and some provide the ability to modify HTTP_REFERER as a feature. In short, it cannot really be trusted." So if this method is not reliable, my question is how can I reliably check that requests to my service file have come from my website?   I've been using my own Error reporting module which was combination of simple c# and jQueryUI Dialog. Problem is that once error or success occurs i do write it's value to session. It does work pretty good on pages with Responce.Redirect on error but not on pages where i catch an error and then return to same form. My question is why does session which added pre-postback fails to load in pages where i have return statement on some condition. And if there another way to save errors and success message except in session ? Maybe global variables or something like that ...

• Why should i POST data rather then GET?

  I know you dont want to POST a form with a username and password where anyone could use the history to see or situations where repeat actions may not be desired (refreshing a page = adding an item to a cart may not be desired). So i have an understanding when i may want to use one over the other. But i could always have the server redirect the url after a get to get around the cart problem and maybe most of my forms will work perfectly fine with get. WHY should i use POST over get? I dont understand the benefits of one over the other. I do notice post doesnt add data to the history/url and will warn you about refreshing the page but those are the only two differences i know of. Why as a developer might i want to use one over the other?

  So I realized something today. In my application, you really can't get anywhere (except the front page) unless you're logged in. And you can't be logged in without a cookie. So my front page could be cached, except the problem is if you are logged in (have a cookie set) then it should just redirect into the application. Is there a way for nginx to look for a cookie and if it finds it then deliver a cached file? Just an idea...

  When I first start one of my Wordpress blogs, I had the permanent URL for each post include the date of posting. The slug format looked like this: /blog/2010/01/25/this-is-my-article/ Later on, I changed it so that the date was not included in the permanent URL, like this: /blog/this-is-my-article/ and setup a redirect plugin to make sure that users would get to the page they wanted until the site was re-indexed. In Google Analytics, when I review the stats for content I now have multiple records for what is essentially the same page. ie: Top Content List: 45 Pageviews- /blog/this-is-my-article/ 24 Pageviews- /blog/2010/01/25/this-is-my-article/ 33 Pageviews- /blog/some-other-article/ Is there any way to combine those records somehow?
