  I'm designing a multiplayer turn-based game for Android (over 3g). I'm thinking the clients will send data to a central server over a socket or http, and receive data via GCM push messaging. I'd like to know if anyone has practical experience with GCM for pushing 'real-time' turn data to game clients. What kind of performance and limitations does it have? I'm also considering using a RESTful approach with GAE or Amazon EC2. Any advice about these approaches is appreciated.

  So Ubuntu One seems feature rich, and looks like a serious alternative to some of the other "host your own" file syncing software out there (I've tried iFolder and Sparkleshare, but for different reasons, they're not suitable). Is there any concept of taking Ubuntu One, and hosting it privately on my own server, and then using the clients to connect to my server? Or am I missing the point? • One Active Directory, Multiple Remote Desktop Services (Server 2012 solution)

  What I am trying to do is quite complex, so I figured I'd throw it out to a wider audience to see if anyone can find a flaw. What I am trying to do (as an MSP/VAR) is design a solution that will give multiple companies a session based remote desktop (companies that need to be kept completely seperate), using only a handful of servers. This is how I imagine it at the moment: CORE SERVER - Server 2012 Datacentre (All below are HyperV servers) Server1: Cloud-DC01 (Active Directory Domain Services for mycloud.local) Server2: Cloud-EX01 (Exchange Server 2010 running multi tenant mode) Server3: Cloud-SG01 (Remote Desktop Gateway) CORE SERVER 2 - Server 2012 Datacentre (All below are HyperV servers) Server1: Cloud-DC02 (Active Directory Domain Services for mycloud.local) Server2: Cloud-TS01 (Remote Desktop Session Host for Company A) Server3: Cloud-TS02 (Remote Desktop Session Host for Company B) Server4: Cloud-TS03 (Remote Desktop Session Host for Company C) What I thought about doing was setting up each Organisation in their own OU (perhaps creating their OU structure based on the Excahnge 2010 tenant OU structure so the accounts are linked). Each company would get a Remote Desktop Session Host server that would also serve as a file server. This server would be seperated from the rest on its own range. The server Cloud-SG01 would have access to all these networks and route the traffic to the appropriate network when a client connects and authenticated so they are pushed onto the correct server (Based on session collections in 2012). I won't lie this is something I have come up with quite quickly so there may well be something gapingly obvious that I am missing. Any feedback would be appreciated.

  folks! Now, I have an Excel file with measurements I made of some color patches (I work at a Press company), with a device called spectrophotometer. Here it is: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B0i8fdSf2ihzRlFYNWd4anItenM Density and Hue are two characteristics of each color patch. The thing is: I'm looking at a non-linear increase between the 25 Color Density measurements I took, but I NEED to know exactly how the color's Hue changes as the color's Density increases. For that, I needed Excel to give me round numbers for the X axis (for example 0,70 to 1,50 in 0,05 increments). And for that, obviously, I needed Excel to calculate the probable Hue Values corresponding to those ghost/round/not-given values of Density (like a kind of advanced rule of three). So, can anyone help me on that? Thanks a lot!

Can i get something more (faster, performance) using virtualbox (x64)? On my home installation it looks very fast. Should i move to vbox against kvm ? I'm looking for answer from someone who have in virtualbox (x64) real server (can be headless) (debian/ubuntu) not windows xp or other home using things ;) I also got xp, 2k3, ubuntu in virtualbox (x86) and for me looking faster than kvm(x64). But it's hard to say anything without real tests done by multiple users not just one.

• Resolution Independence in libGDX

  How do I make my libGDX game resolution/density independent? Is there a way to specify image sizes as "absolute" regardless of the underlying density? I'm making a very simple kids game; just a bunch of sprites displayed on-screen, and some text for menus (options menu primarily). What I want to know is: how do I make my sprites/fonts resolution independent? (I have wrapped them in my own classes to make things easier.) Since it's a simple kids game, I don't need to worry about the "playable area" of the game; I want to use as much of the screen space as possible. What I'm doing right now, which seems super incorrect, is to simply create images suitable for large resolutions, and then scale down (or rarely, up) to fit the screen size. This seems to work okay (in the desktop version), even with linear mapping on my textures, but the smaller resolutions look ugly. Also, this seems to fly in the face of Android's "device independent pixels" (DPs). Or maybe I'm missing something and libGDX already takes care of this somehow? What's the best way to tackle this?   I am a software developer and I need to test my software on different OS all the time. I am using free VPC images from IE6 compat kit from Microsoft but they have only limited options of Windows Versions (Win XP SP3 and some restricted version of Vista). I need a service where I could rent a Virtual OS in the cloud and connect via Remote Dektop. Use for couple of hours and then discard all the stuff I have been doing there. I tried using Amazon S3 but they only have Windows Server 2003 Anyone knows of such a service that would offer different XP/Vista/7 versions ?

  Hello, what are current "technologies and implementations" to get a filesystem with unlimited capacity by using single servers with their harddisk to form a "grid/cloud filesystem"? I need to have unlimited space (by adding further servers) but it must be a filesysem that is capable of running a database on top. I know of Apache Hadoop but that seems not be be Ideal for running a DB on top of it (or am I wrong??) And iSCSI seems to be "remote/networked" but I do not know how and if this is clusterable? thank you very much!! jens
