  • Why does Opera parse my web page as XML?

    I just tried viewing my website http://www.logmytime.de/ in Opera (version 10.50) for the first time and for some reason it gives me an "xml parsing failed error" and refuses to display the web page. I can choose to "Reparse the document as HTML" and then the page works fine, but that's hardly a solution to my problem. The weird thing is that the error still occurs after setting a HTML (instead of XTHML) doctype: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> I checked the source output from the browser to make sure I did not make any mistake. I even viewed the same web page in Firebug and it shows a Content-Type of text/html; . So, why does Opera still try to parse my web page as XML? Thanks, Adrian

    I have a need to store files on Amazon AWS S3, but in order to isolate the user from the AWS authentication I want to go via an ASP page on my site, which the user will be logged into. So: The application sends the file using the Delphi Indy library TidHTTP.Put (FileStream) routine to the ASP page, along with some authentication stuff (mine, not AWS) on the querystring. The ASP page checks the auth details and then if OK stores the file on S3 using my Amazon account. Problem I have is: how do I access the data coming in from the Indy PUT using JScript in the ASP page and pass it on to S3. I'm OK with AWS signing, etc, it's just the nuts and bolts of connecting the two bits (the incoming request and the outgoing AWS request) ... TIA R

    Let's say you have a profile page that can only be accessed by the owner of that profile. This profile page is located at: User/Profile/{userID} Now, I imagine in order to prevent access to this page by other users, you could structure your UserController class's Profile function to check the current session's identity: HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name If the id matches the one in the url, then you proceed. Otherwise you redirect to some sort of error page. My question is how do you unit test something like this? I'm guessing that you need to use some sort of dependency injection instead of the HttpContext in the controller to do the check on, but I am unclear what the best way to do that is. Any advice would be helpful.

    Hi, I have a background image which I apply to the body. The image is only in the bottom and stretch to the entire width of the page. The image is 1 X 320 px. body { background-image: url("../images/bg-main.gif"); background-position: 0% 100%; background-repeat:repeat-x; } The rest of my web site is in 1024 X 768 resolution. It works perfectly until I dynamically insert a new DIV in the middle of the page using javascript. It cause the browser scroll bar to appear and when I scroll down to the bottom, I can see the image stopping right at it's original position. How can I make my image get down again without reloading the page ??? I'm using the EXTJS framework to avoid reloading the page... Thanks Alain

    Hi, i have a page with the main content area being big thumbnails, but elsewhere on the page are about 100-200 other (smaller) thumbs that are not important but must still show. What ways do i have to make the main ones show first (or the unimportant ones show last)? I was thinking of these ways: JS load: on page load (once it has finished loading), use a jquery's append() (or whatever other way) to write the html with the image code Set all unimportant images inside a div with style="display:none;". Then once the page has loaded, use JS to set it as visible what do you think is the best way?

  • Speed up dialog/page transitions in jQuery Mobile on iPhone?

    There are other SO questions on speeding up jQuery Mobile for Android, but does anyone know how to accelerate page transitions on iPhones, specifically dialog transitions? We're on JQM 1.0. JQM 1.1 is supposed to speed up page transitions (though we haven't seen any demos yet), but we're wondering if anyone has done anything for JQM 1.0. Right now, there is a two second delay, which is too much to show a dialog. We resort to one of two options. Using no animation for the page transition, which provides instant feedback, or rolling our own by binding to "touchstart" and animating the dialog, which is really just a big DIV inside the current page. Neither is ideal. Suggestions?

    The problem: If i access SharePoint from Windows 7 with IE8 or Chrome5 - I must wait for like a minute to get a response. If i use other Windows 7 with IE8, just the same - just wait a MINUTE. If i use Firefox3.6 on W7 machine - page opens up instantly. Now switch to IE rendering engine in Firefox, you will have to wait just as with IE. Now i tried IE8 on XP SP3 - page opens up instantly. I tried IE8 on Windows Server 2003 SP2 (machine on which SharePoint is hosted) - page opens up instantly. Now by looking at the source, I know that the code is under the pagelet_tab_content, but not all of it. I have copied that part and pasted it into my own fan page. The layout looks identical but the functions does not work. Obviously something is missing. For instance, I cant find the in the source which is strange, as I know for definate that it is being used. I have been working with this all day without any result. Maybe there is someone more intelligent and experienced that could help me out?

    I am building a web application in which I would like to include the user's LinkedIn profile page feeds. Is this possible? What I envision is the user comes to the web application and adds the complete URL for their Linked user profile in a text box and I would get the feeds for that user page. Would it be possible to do this with jquery? Or should I be looking at some other tool? I trying to make it more clear, I want to create a widget kinda of app for my web app where user enters a complete url of the linkedin user profile page and I have to retrieve the feeds of that particular user and display it. It should be dynamic in nature, if another user enters a another url into the text box I should be able to get the feeds from that particular user profile page.

When the page IS under SSL, the calls fail. I understand that this behavior must be due to the Same Origin Policy (SOP). So, how do I setup my WCF service to accept calls from an SSL-secured page?     I am using an iframe (I hate them by the way!) to call in a 3rd party checkout page into my parent page. The check out page doesn't allow me to pass any variables into it other than $total_amount. So, if an individual purchases 2 or more items they have no record of the items they purchase just the total amount. I have echoed the list of items purchased with php above the iframe for their reference. The final checkout step in the iframe allows you to print the receipt. However, it only prints the iframe content. Can you tell a print button within an iframe to print the parent page as well?
