• Web stalker has purchased a domain name that uses my personal name, web page is defamatory [closed]

  We have been unsuccessful in persuading a stalker's website host to release the domain name he purchased which is my own personal name, e.g., PERSONALNAME.com. You will find my name below in the signature area. Look for yourself. On the one page that this domain name leades to is dreadful and defamatory material. No attorney has felt it worth their time to chase this issue down, and we cannot afford to go to a national or international dispute resolution group to bring this issue to WHOIS. Worse, the stalker is amoral and a psychopath: he would just love the attention. We've even consider trying to find someone to illegally hack into the webpage to at least redirect the domain pointers to my own professional website. This issue has continued now for two years and is affecting my professional reputations as potential clients have looked for me online. Is there any remedy? Your help and advice would be greatly welcomed.

  Our pages can each have many tags, e.g 'football', 'sms', 'nsfw', etc.. wich we would like to track in google analytics. We're already tracking things like category using google analytics custom variables. We've used three of the five available slots so far. How can we track tags the same way? If we just mush them all together - e.g. 'football, sms, nsfw' then can we track the ones that are tagged 'football'? What's the right way to track multi-valued page attributes using custom variables?

• How can I neatly embed Flash in a page in a way that is cross-browser compatible?

  When I receive Flash objects from my designer, it comes with an example HTML page which includes both <object> tags and <embed> tags as well as a whole heap of JavaScript. If I copy and paste this code in to my webpage, it works, but the code looks a mess (and there is so much of it!). If I remove the extra code and try either just <embed> or <object> on their own, it works in some browsers, but not others. Is there a neat, minimal method that works in all the major browsers?

• Is it really a security problem to have non secure assets on an ssl page?

  My understanding is that this is just an example of being overly cautious, but if my checkout form contains an unsecure asset on it, that doesn't endanger anybody's credit card numbers from being caught by a man-in-the-middle. I'm asking this because every once in while, maybe because of cached content or whatnot, somebody writes in saying that they are seeing this "error" (even though there are no unsecure assets on my page), but they want an explanation. So yes, I can tell all about encryption and certificates and trust and men-in-the-middle. But what do I tell them about this. How do I convince them that the site is 100% safe (and if it isn't let me know that I'm mistaken!)

  I have a local business directory site. I'm trying to segment my incoming traffic by page-type such that i can find out what percentage of traffic is going to zip code pages exclusively and what percentage is going to city/state level pages. I basically want to filter by URL structure to find out what percentage of total traffic zip code pages account for. The reason for doing this is to find out if Does Google Tag Manager help with this?   I have two different versions of my site. A desktop version and a mobile optimised version. That is for the same url the server renders different html for different user agents. I had been using vary header for this scheme as recommended by Google. However, now i want to move the mobile website to a single page application for several reasons. I want to know if google stops seeing anything on my mobile web version but the desktop version continues to work as it is, then how would the search rank be impacted given that mobile web gets more traffic than the desktop version. • Why can't my jsp page read chinese chars from mysql? [migrated]

  The mysql chars is utf-8, and the jsp page is also set to utf-8. I use the method: DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/jsptest?"+"useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=UTF-8","root",""); But it can not be use. When I insert Chinese chars into mysql and select it out, that would be proper functioning. The question is when I select some Chinese chars that I write into mysql at first, it would be all the "?" at the Chinese char place! Please watch the picture:

• How can I view and sort after the page count for multiple PDF files in a Windows file explorer?

  I unsuccessfully used the "pages" feature in Windows Explorer, as well as in Directory Opus 10 and Free Commander XT (which I installed just for that reason, to try it out) to display the page count of multiple PDFs in a folder. All my PDF's are free to edit, i.e. not write-protected. I don't understand why any PDF reader can display the (correct) page number, but none of the file explorers can? (In the "details" view of course.) The only documents whose page count is displayed are MS Word documents. Do I have to use Adobe Bridge? (I didn't try it.) On a side-note: Did that change in Windows 8? Initial research: Google search was unsuccessful, the only slightly related SE topic I found was "How to count pages in multiple PDF files?".

You've visited this page 3 times. Last visit: 2012/08/15 Now since I fixed this and added a 301 redirect to redirect mysite.co.za to www.mysite.co.za I would love it if google bot would come do a visit. Is there anything I can do to get this fixed?

  I got stocked passing parameter to one master page for some reasons, seems the page lifecycle and dynamic loading of the master pages has got some issues with defining public properties in the masterpage within my project. It did not set my values and as a result, properties became useless.   Many years ago I may have bought a few sitewide links for some of my sites, these have now come back to haunt me and I need to sort them out. I've tried to contact the owners but they're too lazy to bother changing the sites so I figure it's time to disavow the links. But is there a way to disavow all of the sitewide links on the domain apart from on the index page and would this be a benefit to leave the index or would it still be seen as spammy?   I am developing a web app and I have currently written the entire website in html/js/css and on the backend I have servlets that host some RESTFUL services. All the presentation logic is done through getting json objects and modifying the view through javascript. The application is essentially a search engine, but it will have user accounts with different roles. I've been researching some frameworks such as Play and Spring. I'm fairly new to web development, so I was wondering what advantages using server side page rendering would provide? Is it: Speed? Easier development and workflow? Access to existing libraries?   Today I wanted to print an email from the Mail app (modern UI). I selected devices from the charms bar, and I chose my printer. The problem is that it was a very long email (a 40 replies unthreaded email), and I only needed the first page. It looks like there is no way to select a page range in the simple printing dialog, am I right? I solved the problem by inserting just one page in the printer and then deleting the job, but this is not a real fix... (I could print to a PDF printer, then open in Acrobat and print again, but...)

Most of the time there is no load on the server, but we have a notification program on 3400 PC's that can request a small web page that plays a 64KB .wav file. When an event occurs those 3400 PC's all request the web page over the course of 3 minutes. On a few machine we saw the browser sit in the "connecting" state for a little over a minute before the page painted. What is happening, and how can we speed this up?

  I tried making the following change to my wordpress site to permanently redirect a common link to a new page. I could've -sworn- that this used to work. But it simply does not (at least in WP 3.9).   I have a rather cool space invaders game that my friend and I have been working on for a while, and we have decided it needs an opening page, with "Start" options, "Quit" options and so forth. I have looked at several methods online, but cant seem to get any of them to work! Does anybody have any ideas? P.S Using JFrame to draw the main frame Im just looking to do this within Java, so just a panel that appears at a state change (GAME, MENU). Id like it to contain a few buttons to start the game, and quit. Later, I will add achievements, but im after something really basic for now. But thanks for the suggestions!

  Hi. I have implemented rate limiting with Nginx (which works excellently, by the way) and would like to display a custom 503 error page. I have followed examples on the web without luck. I am running a simple configuration that looks something like this: listen x.x.x.x:80 server_name something.com root /usr/local/www/something.com; error_page 503 /503.html; location / { limit_req zone=default burst=5 nodelay; proxy_pass http://mybackend; } The idea is that our rate limited users would be shown a special page explaining what was going on. The rate limiting is working, but the built-in 503 page is rendering. Any ideas?

I used to login to a website (chess.com) but since a few days ago I get this message: The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. This is the case in Firefox, and chrome. A friend of mine confirmed to me that the website is working fine and he could access it. And I can access many other websites and facing no issues except for this website. I tried switching the use TLS 1.0 option as suggested by someone but this didn't fix it. Can someone suggest a way to fix this issue?

I am using codeigniter and I was wondering if it's better to have one controller per page for a website or to have one controller for all the pages? Let's say I have a simple website where you can visit the homepage, login, create an account and contact the admin. Would it be better to have these controllers: frontend(index), login, account, contact OR having one controller called frontend or whatever with the actions such login, createAccount, contact? When do you know if its better to use one controller in a situation?

  Basically, I have this site that recently lost a lot of traffic after I optimized the html, the exact reasons to which are uncertain. The graph of impressions (times a page appears on search listings) is continuously going down like an e^-x function. Because the content, previously occupying five pages of tables, now fits within a few paragraph tags, the menu now occupies about 80% of the live html code and I am starting to have doubts wherether this affects the "similar pages" factor that Google punishes. Questions: As far as I know, Google ignores invisible material and the submenus are only visible when hovered over. Has anything at all changed in this area? If I ajax in the submenus, leaving only the main eight menu items to load, will I be punished for "hiding" information? Is the idea worth testing or is it frankly retarded?

  I have an internal section in my Joomla only for "Registered" users. There they can edit preferences. Multiple users can access the same preferences (different stakeholders). Now I have "smithcorp" and "smithcorp_guest". They should both be able to view the same things, but "smithcorp_guest" shouldn't be able to edit the preferences. Is there a way to forbid "smithcorp_guest" access to this page? I have only seen access regulation via the user level, i.e. unregistered, registered, admin.
