  • Is iTerm still relevant against Terminal? [OS X]

    Back in the day when Tiger ruled the world, iTerm was a must have for me if only just for the tabs feature that Terminal didn't have. After Leopard came out Terminal got several improvements, like supporting tabs and implementing profiles. Since that day I just don't see the need for iTerm, but I still notice there's people using it. There's something I'm missing? Why should I use iTerm over Terminal?

  • Decompress a PSC File

    I need to restore a database that was backed up using navicat's compressed backup feature. But on the restore, there's an error coming up on one of the tables. I can't look at the SQL statements in the file directly because they're compressed, and I don't know what compression format it's in. Does anyone know of a way to decompress this file into a regular text file?

  • How to Copy CD+Graphics / Karaoke CDs?

    Is there any good software to copy CD+Graphics (aka Karaoke CDs) for Windows 7? Preferably free. I can copy the audio portion just fine, but for some reason I keep looking the karaoke lyrics / graphics portion. It used to be that a lot of the software supported these specifically, but now I am having a hard time finding any mention of this feature, and the ones I have tried didn't work.

  • Unable to use "Manage Content and Structure" after removing Project server form the SharePoint farm

    We're no longer using Office Project Server, and I've removed it from the farm in which it was installed. However, now that it's been removed, I am unable to access the "Manage Content and Structure" link on some of our SharePoint sites. I get an error indicating that SharePoint Failed to find the XML file at location '12\Template\Features\PWSCommitments\feature.xml' Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

  • Regex in Notepad++ 6

    So, Notepad++ got updated to v6.0. One of their new features is PCRE (Perl Compatible Regular Expressions). I tried to use this new feature to find and replace things in a file. I tried the regular expression: {\$([a-zA-Z_]*)} and it yelled at me, saying "Invalid regular expression". I tested this regex in other programs (like my main IDE, Geany), and it worked fine. Why does this not work in Notepad++ 6.0?

  • Equivalent of Windows 7 Winkey+Left / Winkey+Right for Window Tiling in OSX

    Windows 7 has a neat feature where the Windows Key in conjunction with the arrow keys tiles the active window. Windows key + left arrow moves it to the left half, windows key + right arrow moves your window to the right half of your monitor. Is there an equivalent to this functionality in OS X? Can anyone suggest some alternative metaphors by which to manage my windows? I find that OSX windows tend to be a bit more scatterbrained than their windows counterparts.

    Hi, I got this computer free and installed Ubuntu 10.04 on it + updates, plus followed the following tutorial all the way: http://www.unixmen.com/linux-tutorials/937-things-to-do-after-installing-ubuntu-1004-lts-lucid-lynx I love the Docky which comes with it, but the computer has been running rather slowly. The System: kernel 2.6.32-22-generic Gnome 2.30.0 (I like Gnome!) Memory: 1GB Processor: Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 1700 MHz (needless to say, it is 32 bit). I think I dedicated 128 Mb to video memory while installing, but cannot find this setting now. I did also install an NVidia driver for the 3D card, so I probably want to reclaim that memory back. I want to trim the fat but I also want to keep some of the sex appeal of Ubuntu 10.04. I will gift this computer to a friend, who will use it for Internet, music, videos, word processing, Skype and instant messaging - he is non-technical, so this hardware and Linux should work for him; I just need to speed it up while keeping the good software and having a nice UI. I sort of know my way around Linux, but not that well. Feel free to ask me to run particular commands if you want more info. For starters, here are the services below. Which ones can I kill and how? What else can go? There is no need to run ssh or ftp or http or ntp servers. As I said before, this computer is for non-technical person. There is also absolutely no bluetooth or wireless networking needed - it will feed off a regular ethernet cable. What I do not want to do is reinstall some other distro or recompile a kernel.   • When does ISC dhcpd expire leases

    When exactly does ISC dhcpd forget a lease that is not explicitly freed by the client? Context: I am running an installation with many small pools (3 address) and it does not seem to cope well when all three leases are taken. Nevertheless I see entries in dhcpd.leases-file whose end date has passed. Also, these entries are counted towards the number of used leases for the adaptive lease time feature. Shouldn’t these be considered unused?

  • Edit subject line of received email in Thunderbird 3.0

    Is there a way to edit the subject line of emails you've received in Thunderbird? I use email a lot for work and it would be a lot easier if I could change subjects to make things easier to find later. I found a plug-in but it only works for Thunderbird up to 2.0 and I'd rather not have to downgrade to get this feature.

  • Are there disadvantages to using Outlook's Cached Exchange Mode?

    Since I found out about Outlook's "Cached Exchange Mode" I've been using it, and I also set it up on every PC I come across. I think it's a great feature that improves the efficiency of of every Outlook user, and I don't understand why it's not ON by default. My question is - are there any disadvantages to using Cached Exchange Mode? (Besides the obvious fact that it consumes a bit more space, which I don't see as a big issue nowadays)

  • Move files from Mac to Canon PowerShot digital camera

    When I plug my Canon PowerShot digital camera into Snow Leopard, it automatically opens iPhoto and asks to import the pictures, but does not mount the camera on the desktop (from what I read, it's a Canon feature to prevent people from screwing up the file system on the memory card, or something). Is there a way I can move photos I've already imported back on to the camera? I can't seem to figure out how to move stuff from Snow Leopard to the camera using iPhoto, and since it doesn't mount....

  • Kill overscan for ATI drivers?

    I have a dual-boot Windows 7 64 bit/Linux 64 bit machine that uses ATI's Catalyst drivers. Sometimes I attach it to a 1080p LCD TV over HDMI. ATI is daft enough to provide a border to account for overscan. I'm using an LCD TV. No overscan, or it looks like crap because the pixel mapping is not 1:1. How do I disable this driver "feature" in Windows? in Linux?

Is there anyway to only allow the OwnCloud page to access the reverse proxy while blocking any other connections to it?
