• Ruby daemons and frequency

Also, the 5 minutes seem to never happen exactly every 5 minutes, and I'll see variations of 4-6 minutes. thanks in advance

• procmail issue - splitting delivery of one address based on destination domain

  I use procmail to handle some serverside mail processing. I am trying to setup one email address on a server that support multiple domains (in the example below, domain.net and domain.com). I want mail sent to [email protected] to go to bob and mail sent to [email protected] to go to sara. VERBOSE=off LOGFILE=/dev/null :0 * .domain.net bob :0 * .domain.com sara The above recipe seems to work quite well in that it catches incoming mail to domain.net and forwards it to bob. However, instead of forwarding mail to domain.com to sara, it creates a file in /home/user called sara. What am I doing wrong on this?

• Radius Authorization against ActiveDirectory and the users file

  I have a problem with my freeradius server configuration. I want to be able to authenticate users against Windows ActiveDirectory (2008 R2) and the users file, because some of my co-workers are not listed in AD. We use the freeradius server to authenticate WLAN users. • Automating an SSRS 2008 R2 Report Snapshots and run report with most recent data

  I would like to automate a report snapshot, but there is only an option to take a snapshot in the Report History Tab. All the resources I've found suggest I need to go to processing options and select "Render this report from a snapshot". But I don't want to do that - when I go to a report, I want to get the most recent data. However daily at midnight I'd like to take a snapshot and store it in the history in case I want to compare the reports as of midnight for the last few weeks. Or am I doing this wrong and have to create a subscription instead? Note: this is for an auditing database and has way to much data in to query a range with more than 1 day in it - reports are restricted as such. (1 day has over 1 million rows on it's own).

• Linux Email Server Auto-Reply

  I need to setup a mail server that has the following functionality: if a user sends an email to a specific address on this server, the server must first check if the email has a PDF attachment, do some processing to that PDF file and then reply to the user's initial mail with the new PDF file attached. My question is how would it be possible to achieve this functionality, and what software / mail server do you recommend? I'm thinking that it can be solved the following way: when the server receives a new email it executes an external Python script that checks the attachment, processes the PDF file and then sends it back in the user's mailbox. What mail server would be able to do this, and what configurations does it need?

• win32 API vs Linux Kernel API

  Is there anything that can be done using Win32 API that cannot be done using Linux kernel API. I'm asking this, because back in Lab where I work we use Ixia and Agilent Technologies H/W. and these H/W (Signal processes or Packet generator) worth 10s of thousand of Dollars run windows as their OS. Why didn't they choose Linux. I've seen Linux in routers and firewall but not in real Heavy duty H/W like Ixia. This preference of windows over Linux made me think is there any limitation in Linux API or its just licensing thing.

• FTP ASCII file from Windows to Mainframe (iSeries) — special characters

  I have a text file created on a Windows machine, the page coding used on the file is 1252 This file is then ftp'd to an iSeries machine for processing As far as I can see, it appears on the iSeries. It has a CCSID of 037. Sometimes this file contains French characters (e.g. é). When this happens, the FTP will fail with a truncation error as the french character gets converted to some extra junk: �. The file is fixed block so the line does get truncated due to the one character turning into 3. I can convert the French characters to characters without the accents before sending but would prefer to keep everything intact. So is there a way to retain them and send the file over properly? I'm very green on iSeries, mainly a Windows guy.

I sometimes wonder if this time would be much better spent in actual coding and doing, rather than the incessant thinking and perhaps wondering what the "other guy" is doing? With a very large signal to noise ratio in most blogs and podcasts, is there real benefit in maintaining a huge and constant blog role.. or is this some primal fear or instinct to keep up the pace unless being left behind? Can they simply be relegated to Google search and just-in-time learning?   hi there, Im used to using windows server 2003 but decided to get a Vista web edition for IIS7 and to run our MVC applications on. I have installed copSSH that i use for SFTP, and when i upload my files i am unable to change persmissions or take ownership or anything when logged in as an administrator. when i try to go to permissions i get: The permissions on uploads are incorrectly ordered, which may cause some entries to be ineffective. and all permissions are the grayed out. i have tried to use icacls to reset ownership and also tried to give myself full control through icacls however all attempts are met with a access is denied message and failed processing 669 files. all i wish to do is set up write and delete permissions on an upload folder for a CMS systems admin area, but i am a week into looking into this and i am still no wiser. Please could someone give some sound advice so i can get this running smooth thanks p.s i have added the copSSH notes as i think that when i SFTP the files to the server, this may somehow have some involvement in messing up permissions

  Hello, I have a site hosted on a Plesk VPS with 512MB memory and keep on getting kmemsize in "black zone" QoS errors. The soft limit of kmemsize is 12,288,832 and hard limit is 13,517,715. The definition Virtuozzo gives is: Size of unswappable memory, allocated by the operating system kernel. What's eating up the kmemsize? Is there any way to reconfigure and increase the kmemsize?   I need to "bind" one directory to many chrooted places. I know that I can do "mount -o bind", but this requires special processing on startup each time (run the mount). Is there a way to do it on the filesystem directly? My fs is ext4 and it seems not to support hardlinks to directories. Hardlinking all files inside is not an option too. Is thee a way to enable hardlinks to directories in ext4? Or any other options are avilable?

• Sendmail background process sometimes processes queue, but sendmail -q always works

  I'm using sendmail version 8.14.4 on Fedora 15 to send email. My Rails app uses delayed_job to queue up emails. Messages will queue up in /var/spool/mqueue as expected, but don't always get processed. I can see the messages and sendmail is definitely running in the background. Restarting the process does nothing. However, when I issue the sendmail -q command, sendmail gets to work and starts sending. The really odd thing is that this behavior only occurs sometimes. Other times message queue up and are delivered as expected. I've tried tweaking various sendmail configs to reduce the time between queue processing (for example, adding define('confMIN_QUEUE_AGE', '0')dnl to /etc/mail/sendmail.mc), but nothing seems to do the trick. Any ideas what might be the root cause?

• Replace JBoss error page with Axis2 fault XML response

  I'm developing a webservice with Axis2 1.4.1 on JBoss 4.2.3/Tomcat 5.5.27 and Java 1.5.0 (15-b04). It works flawlessly but when an exception happens I get a JBoss error 500 HTML page instead of an Axis2 XML/SOAP fault. This behavoir is vexing, because it difficults to handle errors in the webservice client or in SoapUI while developing. Can I change this to get the SOAP fault?   Hi I was testing my app on the simulator when it crashed on clicking a button of a UIAlertView. I stopped debugging there, made some changes to the code and built the app again. Now when I run the application, I get this error in the console Couldn't register com.myApp.debug with the bootstrap server. Error: unknown error code. This generally means that another instance of this process was already running or is hung in the debugger.Program received signal: “SIGABRT”. I tried removing the app from the simulator, doing a clean build but I still get this error when I try to run the app. Can someone please let me know what I should do to be able to run the app on my simulator again. • How to search for newline or linebreak characters in Excel?

  I've imported some data into Excel (from a text file) and it contains some sort of newline characters. It looks like this initially: If I hit F2 (to edit) then Enter (to save changes) on each of the cells with a newline (without actually editing anything), Excel automatically changes the layout to look like this: I don't want these newlines characters here, as it messes up data processing further down the track. How can I do a search for these to detect more of them? The usual search function doesn't accept an enter character as a search character.

  Summary: When I submit a form (via POST) to php more than 120 seconds after the form was first called I get a 500 server error. If I submit before 120 seconds, the form works fine. I'm obviously encountering some kind of timeout but I don't know where to look. • BAD DC transfering FSMO Roles to ADC

Recently my DC is facing a bad sector problem so I changed the Operation Masters to file-server for all five roles. but when ever i turn off the OLD DC the file-server also stops wroking with AD and GPMC further i m also unable to join any other computer to this domain. For Test purpose i also added a new ADC (FQDN:wds-server.icmcpk.local) but no succes with the old DC off i had to turn the old DC on and then joined it.
