  • Rails deployment from a windows machine

    I'm a rails novice and just finished my first rails app(as far as I can tell). Now I'm at the deployment stage and find myself utterly confused--especially because I'm deploying from a windows machine. I bought the pragmatic book on deployment and it seems a little out of date since they're recommending subversion instead of Git. What would be the easiest deployment method these days for someone doomed to use windows? Are there any good up-to-date tutorials on deployment from Windows?

    Hi I'm looking for a slide effect for a navigation. But in my opinion the slide effect of jQuery is a little strange, or doesn't really fit my needs. The list items kind of appear but aren't animated (the container is only animated) when I apply the slideDown,slideUp,toggleSlide effect. I would like to have the list items animated as well.   • Animated transitions for jQuery UI's sortable

    Just out of curiosity, as I haven't been able to find anything anywhere; does anyone know of a way to get jQuery UI's sortable function to animate its sorting? What I mean is, when you move an element around the sortable parent, its children, the sortables, skip around instead of smoothly animating to their new position, which besides from being an eyesore can also make it a bit difficult to figure out what has moved where. There's obviously no default option for this, but I was hoping that perhaps someone, somewhere, had a neat solution.

    Hi I would like to get the contents of my FB app's wall into my iPhone app. The contents on the wall are directly posted there by me and not obtained from any database. Can someone please point me to the documentation where I can get the information for accessing these messages/their comments from my iPhone app? I searched on the Facebook wiki, but it takes me to the github page for FB-Connect on iPhone, nothing where I can see all the API calls possible. Thanks.

    I'm looking for a server app to be routinely generating certificates for client applications using self-signed root. Is there any streamlined process in .NET to programmatically generate those certificates? I can, of course, keep spawning makecert or openssl, but I was looking for more programmatic, in-memory method, when you just get X509Certificate on output. If someone got a code snippet, can you please share?

  • Custom Map using iPhone MapKit

This is so we can include the gps functionality and the pins functionality. I have looked in the documentation and there does not appear to be a standard way of doing it.     I am working on address book synchronization algorithm. I would like to reuse some code if there exists, but couldn't find one yet. Does someone know about an algorithm that will tell me in numbers/float/procent how much two names are identical. Levenstein distance is not good in this approach, as names and our adddress books are matching the begining of each of the name sections. John Smith should match Smith Jon, Jonathan Smith, Johnny Smith
