  • Is ColdFusion on Linux/Apache stable?

As they say in the docs, I copied the /deploy directory's content to a /scripts directory. All the dependencies are supposed to be included in the flXHR download.   • For how long can a file be locked in windows after program is closed?

    In a couple of scripts that I use I have problem that is intermittent. Sometimes the script fails when trying to delete a file. According to the error log due to the file being accessed by an other process. I'm guessing that windows not had time to release the file after the previous operation performed on the file ended. What amount of time would be a good guesstimate after which windows should have had time to release the file again?

So i wondered if it possible to write a Shell script which is faster to the same script in perl? and why perl faster than shell although I use the 'system' function in perl script.     Hi, I am getting the following error when deploying an application on JBoss 4.2.1 7:05:59,673 ERROR [Application Name]StandardWrapper.Throwable java.lang.IllegalStateException: Application was not properly initialized at startup, could not find Factory: javax.faces.context.FacesContextFactory I browsed the net and I found many posts which suggested to add an entry in web.xml but that entry was already there. And all the required libraries are there in web-inf. So any solutions anybody ?

    Hi! I have a gcc project and would like to automatically add defines for build date and revision number (from git) to my sources. What's the best way to do this? My goal is simple to be able to do something like this on startup: printf("Test app build on %s, revision %d", BUILD_DATE, REVISION) For building I'm using make with a simple Makefile.inc, not autoconf ot anything like this.     I rather enjoy adding practical eye-candy to the networking community I've been developing but as things start to stack up I worry about load times. Is it truly faster to have users load (a hopefully cached) copy of jquery from Google's repositories? Does using jQuery for AJAX calls improve/reduce efficiency over basic javascript xmlHTTP requests? Is there a practical way to cut down the number of included scripts? For example, I include jQuery and jQuery UI from google, table sorter, and a growl plug-in.

    There are times that I automagically create small shell scripts from Python, and I want to make sure that the filename arguments do not contain non-escaped special characters. I've rolled my own solution, that I will provide as an answer, but I am almost certain I've seen such a function lost somewhere in the standard library. By “lost” I mean I didn't find it in an obvious module like shlex, cmd or subprocess. Do you know of such a function in the stdlib?

    Hi, I'm publishing a ClickOnce application with VS2008, but before every publish I have to switch to Release config manually. This is fine as far as I don't forget to switch. Is there a way to prevent deploying debug builds ? Is there some compiler directive like: #if DEBUG #if ClickOnce #error You cannot publish a debug build #endif #endif Or is there a way (without build scripts) to automatically switch to Release config before publishing ? (I've found some similar questions but didn't like the anwsers on them) Thanks

  • Workflow for statistical analysis and report writing

    Does anyone have any wisdom on workflows for data analysis related to custom report writing? The use-case is basically this: Client commissions a report that uses data analysis, e.g. a population estimate and related maps for a water district. The analyst downloads some data, munges the data and saves the result (e.g. adding a column for population per unit, or subsetting the data based on district boundaries). The analyst analyzes the data created in (2), gets close to her goal, but sees that needs more data and so goes back to (1). Rinse repeat until the tables and graphics meet QA/QC and satisfy the client. Write report incorporating tables and graphics. Next year, the happy client comes back and wants an update. This should be as simple as updating the upstream data by a new download (e.g. get the building permits from the last year), and pressing a "RECALCULATE" button, unless specifications change. At the moment, I just start a directory and ad-hoc it the best I can. I would like a more systematic approach, so I am hoping someone has figured this out... I use a mix of spreadsheets, SQL, ARCGIS, R, and Unix tools. Thanks! PS: Below is a basic Makefile that checks for dependencies on various intermediate datasets (w/ ".RData" suffix) and scripts (".R" suffix). Make uses timestamps to check dependencies, so if you 'touch ss07por.csv', it will see that this file is newer than all the files / targets that depend on it, and execute the given scripts in order to update them accordingly. This is still a work in progress, including a step for putting into SQL database, and a step for a templating language like sweave. Note that Make relies on tabs in its syntax, so read the manual before cutting and pasting.
