Hi,
The windows XP sigverif tool is useful for identifying non-signed executables, but does not seem to be amenable to scripting -- is there a command line equivalent?
I have a problem with port forwarding with my torrent, port check tool says that it open, the firewall exception as well. But with the test by the client not say so. I don't know why. Can anybody help me fix me this problem, the download and upload speed with torrent is very slow.

I'm looking for a replacement for hnb, which served me well but seems to be abandoned.
Please do not suggest text-editor based approaches like emacs org mode or vim outliner.
I want a stand-alone tool, preferably written in Python, with ncurses interface (so it could run on Linux with no X server).
I'm writing permanent file deletion tool and accessing raw disk clusters. Since Windows Vista writing into raw disk is a bit more complicated.
I have tried on my external data device first and worked fine, however one of the steps was dismounting of the volume, not sure if it is a good idea to dismount main volume where the Windows are.
Want to ask that is possible consequences and if it safe/unsafe/very unsafe.
Windows Server 2008 R2 DFS Replication
Is it possible to see which specific files are replicating in real time using a GUI or command line tool or in a log somewhere?
I didn't see this in the DFS health reporting, in the DFS event viewer, or the DFS log. The log is pretty cryptic though so it may be in there and I'm unable to see it. I searched through the DFS log for paths and files I know should be replicating and they're not in there.
I'm looking for a simple application which will do something like
Allow user to sign up for an ftp account -> ask admin for approval -> create ftp account for that user
now it doesn't have to be FTP, in fact I would be happy with a web based tool which supported upload via some sort of java applet or something similar. I don't care about what platform it runs on, although if we could avoid PHP that would be cool. Any ideas?
as we all know tmux is quite nice tool, but there is some scenerios that Ctrl + B cannot be used
for example:
i sshd to server A, and now i connect to A's tmux pty, so Ctrl + B is captured by server A.
then i ssh to server B from server A, and there is also tmux running on Server B, this time, Ctrl + B only works for server A, and cannot be used by server B, so if i want to switch windows for server B, what should i do then?
I'm wondering if there's any tools (preferably offline) that would allow me to layout all of the new equipment that will be going into several standard racks. Currently I'm using Excel to map out all of the slots columns for the data but I suspect that there is some better method of doing this. Suggestions?
Edit: Dell has an online tool, but doesn't seem very good at actually saving the data that you're working on (and obviously it's geared towards Dell hardware).
I googled this and tried some solutions, but nothing seems to work. In the past, Hibernate worked fine. Someone told me that this can be caused by specific hardware, and I have lots of that, because this is a dev machine which we use to develop modules that interact with lots of different hardware. Moreover, this machine also uses RAID, which might have something to do. Is there any way to troubleshoot this by looking at some log file or using some tool?
Whenever I play a flash video on my browser (whichever I use, Chrome, Firefox or IE), there's a risk that I lose my Internet connection. I know it's limited to my computer only as my roommates are unaffected. I'm the only one that loses connection. Using Internet Explorer's diagnosis tool always repairs the connection, but it's annoying as hell.
My OS is Windows XP, if that matters.
Anyone knows what may be causing this and how to fix it?
Is there an option or tool that will allow me to change the default naming convention for files copied into the same directory in Windows (XP) and above.
e.g. from: Copy of {name}.{ext} to: {name}.{ext}.copy
Currently:
original_file.php
Copy of original_file.php
Desired:
original_file.php
original_file.php.copy
This would make finding/working with duplicated files much easier (they auto-sort together) and the filetype (by extension) changes thus it can't accidentally "break" something (e.g. if it were a *.java file, upon compiling I would get errors)
Hi,
I'm planning to test my Linux box and I want to start in memory testing. But my problem is what should I need to test the memory in my linux box? Should I need a tool? Or there are some APIs to use to build some scripts?
Thanks
I've backed up some audio files up in 2 places and added ID3 tags into one backup but not the other, since time has passed my own memory has faded on whether the backups are actually the same, but now one has ID3 data and the other doesn't, basic binary compare will fail and inspection will be cumbersome.
Is there a tool to compare just the audio data (not the header, ID3) in mp3s, flac files, and other files using header data such as ID3.
started a thread on beyond compare here:
http://www.scootersoftware.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=7413
would consider other comparison software that does this task
Can anyone recommend a web based tool for managing/viewing DNS records in an active directory environment? Something like ProBIND, but for a microsoft shop?
I need a tool to automatically backup my Drupal installations from my server to my laptop.
In other terms, I need to copy 1 folder (all my Drupals are inside this folder) and all databases.
So I was wondering if I just need to write a script on my laptop
connecting to the server every week
copying the folder with all mysql databases
informing me by email if the backup has been succesfull
do you know if I can find some tutorial for it ? or download such script ?
thanks
I receive the following error when trying to run applications that require .net Framework 3.5:
"Could not load file or assembly 'System.Core, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest."
I've tried numerous fixes, such as reinstalling through ad/remove software, copying the .net folder over from a clean windows 7 install, and running the .net cleanup tool.
Just wondering if anyone has run into this issue before, or has an idea on how to fix it.
I've got an issue where the same msi installed on a server 2008R2 box A instantiates correctly a COM dll, and not on the (seemingly) same box B.
The installed application is a web application, hosted on IIS.
Here's my question: Is there any tool around that is able to compare two boxes installations? (i need comparisons for registry content, IIS settings, user accounts, policy, you name it...)
Thanks
One commandline tool per answer :)
WalkOnLAN
This small command line utility makes
possible to switch on a computer from
a second one by sending a "Magic
Packet". Both of computers can be
located on the same LAN or on the
different LAN segments.
Anything else?
Does anyone know of any website or other route planning tool that lets you find places by travel time from a specific point?
For example, if my starting point is London, and I drive for 24 hours, what are the major cities I could reach?
I want to create a template of Windows Server 2008 R2 for virtualization. Therefore I use the sysprep tool by Microsoft. This works fine. I just wonder what the generalize option is good for.
Thanks
I'm currently struggling which SIP client software to use with respect to Ubuntu / Gnome.
Some clients I've looked so far:
Blink, seems promising but the Linux variant lacks a lot of features
Twinkle Latest release is ~2 years old. AFAIK the only one capable of encrypting calls using zrtp.
Empathy: default tool for IM on ubuntu
Ekiga
Some features I'd like to see:
availablity of buddies
conference calls
call log
chat
desktop sharing (Blink seems to do that for Mac)
So my question is: what client software do you prefer and for what reason?
My iPhone 3GS doesn´t show up in the Scanners and Cameras tool when I connect it via USB to Windows XP. Nor does the Camera Wizard pop up.
How do I make Windows XP detect the device as a Camera? I currently have no way of downloading photos from the iPhone to my computer. iTunes does recognize the device, but it doesn't offer a way to synchronize photos.
Thanks for your help.
Does anyone know of a free open source recovery tool? Should include recovery of document protection password ideally.
EDIT:
I'll settle for just Free instead of free and open source :) I'm looking for something that will handle not only passwords used to open the file but also passwords used to do Word's different forms of document protection.
I'm using CutePDF to convert a Word Document to PDF, but the document has one page in the middle with a horizontal page layout and the PDF doesn't get the horizontal page. Is there a way / tool I can use so I can get the PDF as I'd want?
Tunnelier is a good tool for SFTP. But is there any way for tunnelier to connect to FTP (port 21). I stuck at 'starting first key exchange'. Can anyone help me? Thanks
