  • Combine overlapping urls in C#

  • Across process marhalling problem with an array of points

    Hi All, We have what we think is a marshalling problem with a renderer object when called across process boundaries. The renderer is an ATL COM server with a COM object that implements the IPoints interface defined below: typedef [uuid(B0E01719-005A-427c-B9DD-B42A18E969AE)] struct Point { double X; double Y; } Point; [ object, uuid(3BFECFE3-B4FB-4f14-8257-6E065D02E3B3), helpstring("IPoints Interface"), dual, ] interface IPoints : IDispatch { HRESULT DrawPolyLine([in] long hDC, [in] short count, [in, size_is(count)] Point * points ); // many more like DrawLine } The count parameter represents the number of points and the points parameter represents an array of the actual points. We have two process running, a graphical display process (GDP) and a tabular (grid) display process (TDP). A factory in the GDP, written in C#, creates the renderer and the clients of the renderer in the GDP. When the clients call into the renderer, everything displays correctly. The renderer is created at start up BTW. There is another factory in the TDP, written in VB6, that calls into the factory in the GDP to create the clients. When the clients call into the renderer, only the first point in the array is marshaled correctly, all the other points are garbage. Seems that the rendering works only when the client creation is started from the same process as the renderer. Now, i am not sure what the solution to this problem is. It seems that if we can guarantee that the clients are always created from a thread in the same GDP process as the renderer then the points are marshaled correctly. We tried using a background thread from the Thread Pool in C# and it indeed worked. The problem is that Windows Forms created from the clients stopped working because accessing the form's controls from a thread other than the thread that created the control is not allowed. We might change the calls to access the forms but we have quite a few of them and are trying to look into a different solution that might involve making changes to the renderer. The other problem is that the renderer is legacy code and we can't just change the interface. I am wondering what can we do to the renderer's interface that would help with marshalling from across process calls. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Regards, ElMagn

    The code below demonstrates a very simple problem; I am hoping that I am just missing a setting that someone might be able to reveal. Goal (1) Launch main winform (MainForm). (2) Press button to display secondary winform (ShadowForm) that is semi-transparent and should exactly overlay MainForm. What Actually Happens Scenario 1: Launch main winform then press button: ShadowForm displays with correct size but incorrect location, lower and to the right (as if it was cascaded). Press button to close ShadowForm again. Press button once more to reopen ShadowForm and now it is in the correct position, covering MainForm. Scenario 2: Launch main winform, move it around, then press button: ShadowForm displays with correct size but incorrect location (where the MainForm was before moving it).   • Passing URL as parameter using mod_rewrite

    I would like to rewrite dynamic URL /index.php?pid=login&redirect=/previous-page.html to something like this /login.html-r-previous-page.html I tried this RewriteRule ^login.html-r-(.*)$ /index.php?pid=login&redirect=$1 [L] But no succes. I was also trying to change the regex to .+ or some other forms, but it seems useless. Maybe I am making mistake somewhere else. I am new to regular expressions and also mod_rewrite. I have not found any more info in any books or internet. My website download forms has 1000's of pages generated thru script. I want to generate breadcrumb navigation for the pages. Google has refused me Adsense account due to this lack of navigation.

I used this approach: parse the html page(using htmlagilitypack) to get hold of direct url of any embedded flash, then fetch the file. But this approach wouldn't work if relative paths are used.   • Windows7 Installer takes priority how to move it back during installation using C#?

    I've a custom Action on Deployment project of .NET Applicaiton, which contains custom dialogbox to enter certain parameters, on invalid parameters I've shown MessageBox.Show - but its being hide by installer window, I tried windows forms too with Activate, TopMost, Focus,bring2front, etc serveral options but it comes by default behind the windows installer window and due to this user is not able to identify why installing process is not finishing - because actually its waiting for user to read the MessageBox and press OK. I've tried to implement IWin32Window with the handler of MsiExec Process, and shown the Messagebox but still its not working, anyone has idea ???   • Access Creates new file every time I Compact & Repair

    It didn't always do this, but ever since I split my database and made the front-end an ACCDE file, any time I try to compact and repair either file, a new file called "Database 1" is generated and my original file size doesn't change. Is this normal? My ACCDB is roughly 20MB, and my ACCDE is just over 1M after being used the first time. Before opening, the ACCDE was only 600k (I have lots of forms and queries, and regularly store PDF attachments.

    I am using some code I found on the internet that creates a countdown from a certain date. I am trying to edit the code so that it only gives me a countdown from an hour, minute, and second that I specify from a future date. I cannot just have code that counts down from a specified time, I need it to countdown to a specified date in the future. This is important so that if the browser is refreshed the countdown doesn't start over but continues where left off. I will be using cookies so the browser remembers what future date was specified when it was first run.     I'm designing a simple expander control. I've derived from UserControl, drawn inner controls, built, run; all ok. Since an inner Control is a Panel, I'd like to use it as container at design time.   • Ruby-on-Rails equivalent to ORM Designer for Symfony?

    In Symfony i just have to create models with ORM Designer and export it to symfony as a schema.yml and then use a symfony command to create tables, models and forms.   • Opening txt files in Internet Explorer 8 parses some html

    I'm not sure if it's just me, but whenever I open .txt files in internet explorer, it always parses the HTML, so forms, buttons, fields all show up. It does this on multiple computers, and I'm fairly sure it hasn't always done this. I know FireFox doesn't, FireFox loads it as a text file. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, have you solved it? If so again, how?

  • C# DLL: Need to know when application is closing

    Is there a way to monitor when an application that is using the dll closes? The DLL and the application are both C#, neither are Windows Forms. I can check when the main application is closing, but I would like for the DLL to see "hey the program is closing and releasing me, I should do this real quick before I die". Any way to do it? Or am I stuck having the application dish out "do this before you die"?
