• Open a File Browser From Your Current Command Prompt/Terminal Directory

  Ever been doing some work at the command line when you realized… it would be a lot easier if I could just use the mouse for this task? One command later, you’ll have a window open to the same place that you’re at. This same tip works in more than one operating system, so we’ll detail how to do it in every way we know how. Open a File Browser in Windows We’ve actually covered this before when we told you how to open an Explorer window from the command prompt’s current directory, but we’ll briefly review: Just type the follow command into your command prompt: explorer . Note: You could actually just type “start .” instead. And you’ll then see a file browsing window set to the same directory you were previous at. And yes, this screenshot is from Vista, but it works the same in every version of Windows. If that wasn’t good enough, you should really read how you can navigate in the File Open/Save dialogs with just the keyboard—now that’s a Stupid Geek Trick! Open a File Browser in Linux For this exercise, we’re going to assume that you’re using Gnome under a Linux flavor like Ubuntu, because that’s the most common. From your terminal window, just type in the following command: nautilus . And the next thing you know, you’ll have a file browser window open at the current location. You’ll see some type of error message at the prompt, but you can pretty much ignore that. You can also use “gnome-open .” if you want. Open Finder in Mac OS X All the Mac computers in this office are running Linux, so we haven’t had a chance to verify, but you should be able to use the following command on OS X to open Finder in the current terminal location: open .   In Oracle JDeveloper 11g R1 (I did not test 11g R2) the file upload component is submitted even if users click a cancel button with immediate="true" set. Usually, immediate="true" on a command button by-passes all modle updates, which would make you think that the file upload isn't processed either. • Mysterious dbboon folder with proxy.php file on my godaddy account

  When doing some web maintenance today, I noticed a strange new folder on my GoDaddy hosting account at the root level named "dbboon", with a single file inside, called proxy.php. It's code is listed below, and seems to be some sort of proxy function. I was kind of troubled because I didn't put it there. I googled all this to learn more, but didn't find anything, except for the proxy file happened to be also stored at pastebin.com: http://pastebin.com/PQsSPbCr I called GoDaddy and they confirmed that it belonged to them, said it was put there by their advanced hosting group for testing purposes but didn't have any more information.   I know you can redirect subdomains to a different server, but can you do the same with folders? Say I have example.com. I can redirect mysubdomain.example.com to a different server, but can I redirect example.com/mysubdomain to a different server? I'd like to host a rails app in that folder on a site that runs php while still maintaining good search engines ratings (by not creating a sub domain which in my experience in recognized as a different site).   Hi guys, I would like to delete all the files and subfolders inside a folder. For this purpose, I am using task in my script with property TaskAction set to "RemoveContent". However there is an inconsistent behaviour. Sometimes when I run the script, it throws IOException with the messsage The directory is not empty. But when i rerun the script it works fine.   I've been trying to convert my aspx pages to cshtml and having an issue with rendering partial pages from another folder. What I used to do: <% Html.RenderPartial("~/Views/Inquiry/InquiryList.ascx", Model.InquiryList.OrderBy("InquiryId", MvcContrib.Sorting.SortDirection.Descending));%> I would think that the equivalent would be: @Html.RenderPartial("~/Views/Inquiry/_InquiryList.cshtml", Model.InquiryList.OrderBy("InquiryId", MvcContrib.Sorting.SortDirection.Descending)) This is obviously not working, I am getting the following error. CS1973: 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' has no applicable method named 'Partial' but appears to have an extension method by that name. Extension methods cannot be dynamically dispatched. Consider casting the dynamic arguments or calling the extension method without the extension method syntax. How would I achieve this with using the Razor view engine?

  How can I replace the same text in folder names in linux? Say I have "Photos_Jun", "Photos_July", "Photos_Aug", etc. whats the simplest way I can rename them like "Photos Jun", "Photos July", etc (basically I want to replace the underscore with a space " ". I have about 200 of these folders. I was looking at solution: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1836563/how-can-i-easily-bulk-rename-files-with-perl It looks like what im looking for however, I dont know how to make a regular expression to match folders that are alphanumeric followed by a "_".   In java I need to read a binary file from a site and write it to a disk file. This example http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/urls/readingURL.html could read webpages succesfully, but when I try to read a binary file from my localhost server and write it to a disk file the contents change, corrupting the binary file. Using fc I see that 0x90 is changed to 0x3F and other changes. How do I acess the binary files (read url and write to file) without java or anything else changing ANY characters, like doing any newline conversions or character conversions or anything else, simply reading input url and writing it out as a file.

• Change namespace/filesystem folder names in Visual Studio

  I'm trying to change a namespace in Visual Studio. My folder structure looks something like this: GameAlpha/ GameAlpha.sln GameAlphaRelease/ GameAlphaTest/ GameAlphaLevelEditor/ These include namespaces like GameAlphaRelease. I want to change all this to GameBetaRelease. Before this process, it built fine. First, I changed the solution and project files from Alpha to Beta. Then, I did a "find-replace-all" on the namespace. Finally, I went through the properties of each project and changed the "Assembly Name" and "Default Namespace" to the appropriate Beta title. However, now the solution does not build. The error is: GameAlpha.accessor: The reference to 'GameAlpha.exe' was not found in the list of this projects references. (Project: GameBetaTest) What am I doing wrong? If I remove project GameBetaTest, the solution builds just fine. Also, what is the preferable way to change the names of the folders in the file system?

  Hi, I’ve throughout the last couple of years downloaded a lot of templates for websites and these are now starting to become chaotic in the different folders so I’m starting to get a overview of the different templates. Regarding to this I was thinking about the way that WordPress displays the different themes installed in the themes folder. It provides a small overview (thumbnail) of the theme and a possibility to preview the theme. Of cause, I don’t need or want such a advanced system as Wordpress but I’m attractive to the idea of displaying my templates in the same kind of manner and without using a Database. I’ve played around with different directory management scripts and tools for PHP but the best result I’ve got so fare is just to display the different content in the different folders but not create a preview which in each preview it will use the webpage itself and it’s stylesheets, images, etc. Does anyone have an idea how to create such a script or have a link to a already existing script. The directory targetPath is even checked for existence before the copy code is executed and the filename looks like this: AB_timestamp.xml The user has write permissions to the targetPath and can copy the file without problems using the OS. As I don't have access to a machine this happens on yet and can't reproduce the problem on my own machine I turn to you for hints on the reason for this exception.

  Hi all, I am trying to integrate unit test cases with a TFS build in our new solution. I've include the following configuration line in my TFSBuild.proj <ItemGroup> <TestContainer Include="$(OutDir)\%2aTest.dll" /> </ItemGroup> Which I think is the correct configuration since I only have 1 test project. However, when I do this, some dll is missing in the output folder of the test case, hence failing most of my test case. Has anyone run into this problem before? Thanks!

• Include Files using Wildcard into a folder in Visual Studio

  I am using <ItemGroup> <EmbeddedResource Include="..\..\resources\hbm\*.hbm.xml" /> </ItemGroup> to include a bunch of xml files into my C# project. Works fine. But, I don't want them in the "root level" of my project, I would rather see them in a subfolder in my project. For example, this file is included into a Mapping folder in Visual Studio: <ItemGroup> <EmbeddedResource Include="Mapping\User.hbm.xml" /> </ItemGroup> That's what I want for my *.hbm.xml files. I can't figure out how to do it and still keep my wildcard *.hbm.xml part and also keep the actual files in a different directory. I've looked at MSDN's doc on MSBUILD and items, but no luck.

• TFS Security and Documents Folder

  I'm getting an issue with TFS where the documents folder is marked with a red cross. As far as I can tell, this seems to be a security issue, however, I am set-up as project admin on the relevant projects. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a security issue from running the TFS Project Admin tool (available here). When I run this, it tells me that I don’t have sufficient access rights to open the project. I’ve checked, and I’m not included in any groups that are denied access. Please can anyone shed any light as to why I may not have sufficient access to these projects?

  I have a directory structure: example.py templates/ __init__.py a.py b.py a.py and b.py have only one class, named the same as the file (because they are cheetah templates). For purely style reasons, I want to be able to import and use these classes in example.py like so: import templates t = templates.a() Right now I do that by having this in the template folder's __init__.py: __all__ = ["a", "b"] from . import * However, this seems pretty poor (and maybe superfluous), and doesn't even do what I want, as I have to use the classes like this: t = templates.a.a() Thoughts?

I can add all the new files in my working copy before do commit, and the repository changes, but if for example i delete one file of the working copy i dont know the way to add this change before do commit. When you use the tortoise for example before do commit the program shows all the changes of the working copy and you can choose what changes commit and what changes dont.   Im on Win 7 64b. Im trying to run msconfig from my delphi app. The msconfig.exe file is in the system32 folder . I copied the msconfig.exe to the c:\ and it works great. • How can I test whether a csv file is currently open and being written to - the file, not a file hand

  I've seen a few questions/answers here that deal with this, but none really give me an answer/solution. I've got a Clipper system writing csv files to a Windows directory. I have a perl script running on a Linux server that is reading a mount of that Windows directory and importing the files to a database. Right now we're using flag files to indicate when a csv is no longer being written to; the flag files gets written after the csv is done. I'd really rather just get what I need from the csv itself, but I can't seem to find a way to tell when the file is open and being written to. lsof doesn't seem to answer my need. I've tried using flock and open the file with an exclusive lock, thinking it might throw an error if the file is being modified, but it doesn't. Any thoughts?

  Guys, I have a Visual C++ solution with 2 projects AlgorithmA & AlgorithmB and both share a common header file RunAlgo.h with the class declaration. Each project in the solution has its own unique implementation for the header file. I am trying to compile a DLL out of the common header file RunAlgo.h and add reference to this DLL in the projects AlgorithmA & AlgorithmB. I have then included separate RunAlgo.cpp definition file in both my projects. The problem is that I am getting linker errors while compiling the new DLL project which has only the header file. So, the question is Can a header file with only class declaration be compiled into a DLL (Similar to class library containing an Interface in C#)? For the above scenario, is there a better approach to reuse the common Header file among projects? Should the above method work (re-check my code?)
