• How to Setup Ubuntu Mail Server with Google Apps?

  I have a domain, let's call it foobar.com. All of the MX records for foobar.com point to Google's mail servers because I am using Google Apps for your domain to manage it. It's great because everyone gets all the advantages of GMail, but our e-mail addresses aren't @gmail.com. I also have a server. Primarily, it's a web server, but it also serves other things. One of the things it serves is the web site for foobar.com and also sites for various virtual hosts such as shop.foobar.com and forum.foobar.com. The server is running Ubuntu 8.04, because I like using LTS releases in production. The thing is, there are various applications running on the server that need the ability to send out emails. Various applications, like the cron jobs, send me e-mails in case of errors. Some of the web applications need to send e-mail to users when they forget their passwords, to confirm new registered users, etc. Lastly, it's nice to be able to send e-mail from the command line using the mail command, or mutt. How can I setup the mail on the web server to go through the Google apps mail servers? I don't need the web server to receive mail, though that would be cool. I do need it to be able to send mail as any legitimate address @foobar.com. That way the forum application can send mails with [email protected] in the from field, and the ecommerce application will have [email protected] in the from field. Also, by sending the mail through the Google servers, we can avoid a lot of the problems with the e-mails being blocked by various spam filters on the web. Google's SMTP servers are trusted a lot more than mine would be. I'm pretty good with administering Linux systems, but I am absolutely brain dead when it comes to e-mail. I need step by step directions from beginning to end on how to set this up. I need to know every thing to install, and every single change to the configuration files that is necessary. I have tried following various howtos and guides in the past, but none of them were quite right. Either they didn't work at all, or they offered a configuration that is not what I wanted. • Adding Table Columns to a Group by clause - Ruby on Rails - Postgresql

  I am trying to use Heroku and apparently Postgresql is a lot more strict than SQL for aggregate functions. When I am pushing to Heroku I am getting an error stating the below. On another question I asked I received some guidance that said I should just add the columns to my group by clause and I am not sure how to do that. • Group / User based security. Table / SQL question

  Hi, I'm setting up a group / user based security system. I have 4 tables as follows: user groups group_user_mappings acl where acl is the mapping between an item_id and either a group or a user. The way I've done the acl table, I have 3 columns of note (actually 4th one as an auto-id, but that is irrelevant) col 1 item_id (item to access) col 3 user_id (user that is allowed to access) col 3 group_id (group that is allowed to access) So for example item1, peter, , item2, , group1 item3, jane, , so either the acl will give access to a user or a group. Any one line in the ACL table with either have an item - user mapping, or an item group. If I want to have a query that returns all objects a user has access to, I think I need to have a SQL query with a UNION, because I need 2 separate queries that join like.. item - acl - group - user AND item - acl - user This I guess will work OK. Is this how its normally done? Am I doing this the right way? Seems a little messy. I was thinking I could get around it by creating a single user group for each person, so I only ever deal with groups in my SQL, but this seems a little messy as well..

• Echoing users by group name in PHP

  What I want to do is click a name of a group(every group what I create other than poweruser and admin groups) and that will echo all of the users in that group from the database. I have figured out the code so far but now my problem is how will I print it all out when clicking the name of the group? • Google: "302 Moved" in Firefox

  For some Google search queries executed from the Firefox search bar, or manually by typing in the URL, I get a ''302 Moved'' page. I did a quick virus scan, have checked the hosts file and the plugins and add-ons that are installed in Firefox. Nothing is out of the ordinary. What could be the problem? These URLs (and any URL with google.com, empty and firefox-a in them) show me a 302 Moved page: https://www.google.com/search?q=c%23+empty+array&client=firefox-a https://www.google.com/search?q=empty&client=firefox-a Whereas these URLs work fine: https://www.google.com/search?q=c%23+empty+array (no firefox-a) https://www.google.com/search?q=empty (no firefox-a) https://www.google.com/search?q=c%23+array&client=firefox-a (no empty) https://www.google.nl/search?q=c%23+empty+array&client=firefox-a (no .com) By default Google redirects my queries to their .nl website, and uses HTTPS. I am currently executing a full system virus scan using Security Essentials. My Firefox plugins were up-to-date. No unfamiliar Firefox plugins or add-ons found. Restarting Firefox did not solve the issue. The issue does not occur in Internet Explorer. The hosts file did not contain any unfamiliar entries.

• DallasXAML.com – A New User Group for Silverlight, WPF, XBAP, etc.

                                   http://DallasXAML.com   I’ve devoted much of last month to starting the DallasXAML User Group.  I finally got back into user group management after 2 years away from leading the Dallas C# SIG.  Now I’m having fun getting a Silverlight/WPF user group going strong for the Dallas / Ft. Worth community.  Our first meeting was March 3rd at the Improving Enterprises offices in North Dallas.  We had about 25 to 35 attendees in the first meeting and it went well.  We covered the most important topic that everyone should understand well – data binding.   So I chose the XAML user group so we can get together for a common group improvement in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area and learn cross-technology information that we can use now.  It is not a lecture hall.  The great thing is that we’ll provide hands-on experience with most every meeting.  The goal is to get the experience that we can use the next work day.  I unfortunately broke that rule by speaking all through the first meeting, but next month is part two with more hands-on data binding.   The differentiation is this group concentrates on XAML, not Silverlight or Windows Client alone.  What we learn in one area, we gain for all areas.  That includes the Silverlight for Windows Phone 7 coming later this year.  Next year it may be Windows Phone 8, 9, or whatever.    I started developing WPF seriously almost a year ago.  I experienced the painful learning curve.  Anyone who reports that there isn’t a big learning curve either thinks in XAML before it was developed, is on the Silverlight or WPF development team, or has already conquered the learning and forgot the pain.  So I wanted to share the pain or make it easier for others – same thing.  I have found that the more I learn and use good disciplined techniques, the more interesting and rewarding development is again.   A few months ago, I was sitting in the iPhone development session at the Dallas C# SIG.  After the meeting, the audience was polled for future topics.  After a few suggestions, Silverlight got the big hands up.  That makes sense because it’s still the hot topic for many Microsoft developers.  So I surfed around and found that there aren’t enough user groups to help in this area.  I polled a few local group leaders and did the work to start the group.  This week I got a telerik controls licence and improved the site with some great controls, namely the RadHtmlPlaceholder control.  It provides a Silverlight control to show HTML in an IFrame-like area.  On DallasXAML.com, the newsletters and resource pages display in HTML because Silverlight just isn’t there yet.  I’m looking forward to a Silverlight XPS viewer with flow documents.  There are some good commercial version available, but this is a non-profit group.    The DallasXAML.com site points to many other resources such as podcasts and webcasts.  I would rather give them the credit than try to out-do them.  So check out the DallasXAML user group site and attend our meetings if you can.  We meet the first Tuesday of the month.   -Vince DallasXAML User Group Leader

• How do I search using the Google Maps API?

I'm completely new to Javascript, and have waded through some of Google's sample code easily enough. I found how to grab the user's current location. • How do I get adobe flash working in Chrome or Chromium on Ringtail?

  I have recently upgraded to Ringtail and for some reason flash isn't working on either Chrome or Chromium. It works in firefox but I prefer Chrome as my browser so switching to firefox when a website containing flash appears is a bit annoying. According to just about every source, flash it built into Chrome and should just work even on Ubuntu. I tried removing chrome and reinstalling it, but the problem persists. I've checked about://plugins and flash is enabled. • Comparing Isis, Google, and Paypal

  Back in 2010 I was sure NFC would make great strides, but here we are two years later and NFC doesn't seem to be sticking. The obvious reason being the chicken-and-egg problem.  Retailers don't want to install the terminals until the phones support NFC, and vice-versa. So consumers continue to sit on the sidelines waiting for either side to blink and make the necessary investment.  In the meantime, EMV is looking for a way to sneak into the US with the help of the card brands. There are currently three major solutions that are battling in the marketplace.  All three know that replacing mag-stripe alone is not sufficient to move consumers.  Long-term it's the offers and loyalty programs combined with tendering that make NFC attractive. NFC solutions cross lots of barriers, so a strong partner system is required.  The solutions need to include the carriers, card brands, banks, handset manufacturers, POS terminals, and most of all lots of merchants.  Lots of coordination is necessary to make the solution seamless to the consumer. Google Wallet Google's problem has always been that only the Nexus phone has an NFC chip that supports their wallet.  There are a couple of additional phones out there now, but adoption is still slow.  They acquired Zavers a while back to incorporate digital coupons, but the the bulk of their users continue to be non-NFC.  They have taken an open approach by not specifying particular payment brands.  Google is piloting in San Francisco and New York, supporting both MasterCard PayPass and stored value. I suppose the other card brands may eventually follow.  There's no cost for consumers or merchants -- Google will make money via targeted ads. Isis Not long after Google announced its wallet, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile announced a joint venture called Isis.  They are in the unique position of owning the SIM in the phones they issue.  At first it seemed Isis was a vehicle for the carriers to compete with the existing card brands, but Isis later switched to a generic wallet that supports the major card brands.  Isis reportedly charges issuers a $5 fee per customer per year.  Isis will pilot this summer in Salt Lake City and Austin. PayPal PayPal, the clear winner in the online payment space beyond traditional credit cards, is trying to move into physical stores.  After negotiations with Google to provide a wallet broke off, PayPal decided to avoid NFC altogether, at least for now, and focus on payments without any physical card or phone.  By avoiding NFC, consumers don't need an NFC-enabled phone and merchants don't need a new reader.  Consumers must enter their phone number and PIN in the merchant's existing device, or they can enter their PIN in the PayPal inStore app running on their phone, then show the merchant a unique barcode which authorizes payment. Paypal is free for consumers and charges a fee for merchants.  Its not clear, at least to me, how PayPal handles fraudulent transactions and whether the consumer is protected. The wildcard is, of course, Apple.  Their mobile technologies set the standard, so incorporating NFC chips would certainly accelerate adoption of many payment solutions.  Their announcement today of the iOS Passbook is a step in the right direction, but stops short of handling payments. For those retailers that have invested in modern terminals, it seems the best strategy is to support all the emerging solutions and let the consumers choose the winner.

Use sh -c 'firefox "https://www.google.com/search?q=$(xclip -o)"' if you want regular Google over Google translate. And obviously, that would work everywhere" I do not know what to do with that formula. What should I do exactly? How to use it? In what application?

• Find out when a new domain appears in search results

  Does anyone know a way to perform the following: I want to know whenever a new domain starts appearing in the google search results for a particular query. For a given google search query, I'd like to receive an alert whenever a new domain pops up and starts appearing in the search results for that query. Alternatively, it would be great if you could just sort google search results by the age of the domain, making it easy to find new sites. As far as I can tell you can only sort by when the page was "last updated". Is something like this possible? EDIT: Following John's suggestion of Google Alerts. The problem with Google Alerts is that it sends you any new PAGES appearing in the search results, not just new DOMAINS.

• Google Chrome (not chromium) is crashing XFCE on startup. Where can I find some detailed logs of the issue?

  I'm using xubuntu 12.10 and every time I open Chrome, the desktop enviro crashes then automatically restarts, prompting me to log in again. This is the latest x86 .deb downloaded from Chrome's website. I've tried both installing the .deb using the software package manager and using sudo dpkg -i, same issue for both, except that the package manager puts out an alert that says "This package is of bad quality", but doing a quick google search reveals that particular message is a bug in Chrome and it's safe to ignore.

The indicated class implements Serializable (the whole object graph). So far the only patterns / observations are: we seem to have the issue only when the application is used inside an iframe the problem seems to happen when a new version of the application has been deployed running firefox in privacy mode (disabling all caches etc.) doesn't fix the problem Any ideas?   Is there a way I can figure out the time the current request reached the app engine? For example a user might make a request to my app, but due to app engine latencies my code might not start handling the request until one second later, is there a way I can figure out that the user has already had to wait one second? The reason I want to know how to do this is because I want to do different things based on if the user already had to wait. If the user already had to wait a significant amount of time I will just serve them a page out of the cache, if the user hasn't had to wait yet then I will serve them a page which takes a while to render.

  I'm trying to make a custom infowindow. Version = 2. I have added my DIV to the map as follows - $("#infoWindowClass").appendTo(map.getPane(G_MAP_MARKER_MOUSE_TARGET_PANE)); The infoWindowClass is - #infoWindowClass { position:absolute; padding:10px; height: 155px; width: 225px; background-color: #E7F8CD; color: #3F3F3F; border:0.5px solid #8D8D8D; font-size:80%; } Per documentation, this is above all other DIV layers. This DIV has two input fields, however I can't click on any of them. I manually added the z-index to 990 for this DIV but the input fields are still not clickable. Any pointers ?
