  • Unfamiliar Javascript Syntax

    Long and short of the story is, whilst reading John Resig's blog (specifically http://ejohn.org/blog/javascript-trie-performance-analysis/) I came across a line which makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. Essentially it boils down to object = object[key] = something; (this can be found in the first code block of the article I've linked.) This has proven rather difficult to google, so if anyone can offer some insight / a good online resource for me to learn for myself, I'd much appreciate it.

  • How do I create and read non-global variables that aren't destroyed at end of function?

    I am attempting to code some plugins to use with MIDI sequencers but have hit a stumbling block. I can't use global-scope variables to store information because multiple instances of the .dll can exist which share memory. How do I create a class (for re-usability purposes in other plugins) containing 2 dimensional array and other variables the content of which is to be shared between functions? If that is possible, how would I read and write the data from the function in the framework where I do the processing?

    I have a Class A that when it is instantiated and saved for the first time or modified it will create an instance of Class B and save it also I want them to be in the same transaction and I want it to be handled in the Model not a controller. Why is this occurring?

  • Preprocessor not skipping asm directives

    I'm programming to a microprocessor (Coldfire) and I don't have access every day to the microprocessor trainer so I want to be able to execute some of my code on the computer. So I'm trying to skip a part of my code when executing on the computer by defining _TEST_. It doesn't work. It tries to compile the asm code and dies whining about not knowing the registers names (they're defined alright compiling against the Coldfire, not my Intel Core Duo). Any ideas why it's not working? or maybe an alternative way to run the code on the pc without commenting it out?. This example also shows why vertical-align: middle does not work. I want the img to be centered against the text of the div. That is, even if the text wrapped to multiple lines, the image would be centered against a single line. Ideally, the solution would not involve setting margings/paddings on the image and would work even if I didn't know the line-height.     Can I write a module/filter that gets put into the processing pipleline in Tomcat BEFORE the web application even gets run? Something that I could turn on/off for each web application that tomcat is handling. is this possible? So basically it would be a re-usable filter that hooks into the web pipeline that could alter the requests behavior or perform/modify the requests. One example would be to log all ip's, or redirect based on the url, block the request, etc.

  • jquery .attr('alt','logo').css('display','none') not working !!!

    I have the three following lines and the first two line gets all the images on the document and hides all, but then when I add the third line shows all the images. What I need its to hide only the images with the attribute alt=minimize and alt=maximize but for some reason hides all the images. $('img').attr('alt', 'minimize').css("display","none"); $('img').attr('alt', 'maximize').css("display","none"); $('img').attr('alt', 'logo').css("display","inline"); I am using IE7, but it should be compatible with IE6 and IE8.   • why is link generated in YUI javascript failing to render in rails?

    Using YAHOO.widget.treeview to generate a table with three levels of data: module, submodule, and detail. If there is an image associated with a detail row the javascript generates a link: "<td><a href=\"/screenshot/show/" + rowData.id + "\">Screenshot</a></td>" that is appended to the html for the row. The url is generated correctly and the link appears. When clicked nothing happens except the word 'Done' appears in the browser status bar. Am calling the very same url from another page that does not use javascript and the screenshot page appears as expected.     Hi, If you have a ListView with its view set as a GridView, which itself contains columns for each month say.....how do I set a template up for the ItemTemplate of the ListView so that each Item will be three rows high, and be inline with the ListView.View's columns? I have base address 0xDEADBEEF and want to write something like this: Assembler a((void*)0xDEADBEEF); a.Emit() << Push(Reg::Eax) << Push(Reg::Ebx) << Jmp(0xFEFEFEFE); Inline assembler isn't my choice because generated machine code is dependent of the program state. Does anybody know any existing library for doing this? If no, would it be a good idea to develop one from scratch and make it open source? (I mean, will anybody ever use this library if it existed?)

I don't want to use unsafe code (e.g. pointers) Any of my tries resulted in unreadable strings.
