    Hi, We are launching hadoop cluster on amazon ec2 and recently we are having network issues like master unable to connect to slave. We thought the reason is due to amazon throttling the network connections over a limit. So, we tried to establish a connection after a random delay from each slave node. But, that didn't help. Then it disconnects from it and it should be that much faster than the other application (?) should not feel it is disconnected. Which layer should I program at?     Hello. I am trying to get a list of local network computers. I tried to use NetServerEnum and WNetOpenEnum API, but both API return error code 6118 (ERROR_NO_BROWSER_SERVERS_FOUND). Active Directory in the local network is not used. Most odd Windows Explorer shows all local computers without any problems. Are there other ways to get a list of computers in the LAN?

    I want to build a social network, with some of the users being able to put up some stuff up for sale. So basically, a social network + multiple sellers e-commerce. What is the best technology solution for that? I was thinking of going Rails route, using CommunityEngine and ActiveMerchant. Another option is going PHP and using something like X-Cart, which already has multiple sellers interface. Any recommendations? Thanks!

  • Deploying application with ClickOnce to network share while being offsite

    I have application written in Visual Studio 2008 which I deploy with ClickOnce to network share while at work. Sometimes I work from home and I don't have VPN that allows access of shares to deploy application from outside of company. Is there a way that I could simple pack it, send thru FTP and unpack it on the server so that ClickOnce never notices it's been delivered differently and so it doesn't loose numeration and everything associated with normal network deployment? It's C#, .NET 3.5 application.

  • Network.downloadfile is very slow

    I have tried using the My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile method but unfortunately it is slow. Executing the simple command below takes ~5-10 secs, which I would say is a lot longer than expected for downloading a 9 kb file. `My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile("http://www.google.dk", "j:\temp\test.html")` I am connecting via a high-speed connection (10GB) from a Win7 machine. Do anyone know of any explanations for this behavior? Hope that you can help me out with this. Kristoffer

I can't have the driver communicate with a local usermode application which then communicates with the remote application because that wouldn't work for what I'm doing.   • any real MVC library in PHP (for GUI apps)

    I'm wondering if there are any abstraction frameworks for one of the PHP gui libraries. We have PHP-GTK, a PHP/Tk interface, and seemingly also PHP-QT. (Not tried any.) I know that writing against the raw Gtk+ interface in Python is just bearable, and it therefore seems not very enticing for PHP. I assume it's the same for Qt, and Tk is pretty low-level too. So I'm looking for something that provides a nicer object structure atop any of the three. Primarily TreeViews are always a chore and php-gtk callbacks are weird in PHP, so I'd like a simplification for that. If it eases adding the GUI/View atop my business logic without much control code, that might already help. And so since GUI apps are an area where MVC or MVP would actually make sense, I'd like to know if any library for that exists. Btw, recently rediscovered PHP interface preprocessor, but that's rather low-level and just provides a simple widget/interface abstraction for Gtk/ncurses/pdf/xhtml output.

I'm looking for a library that gives me a file format to store different types of binary data in an expanding single file. open source, non-GPL (LGPL ok) C interface the file format is a single file multiple files within using a POSIX-like file API (or multiple "blobs" within using some other API) file/structure editing is done in-place reliable first, performant second Examples include: the virtual drives of a virtual machine whefs HDF CDF NetCDF Problems with the above: whefs doesn't appear to be very mature, but best describes what I'm after HDF, CDF, NetCDF are usable (also very reliable and fast), but they're rather complicated and I'm not entirely convinced of their support for opaque binary "blobs" Edit: Forgot to mention, one other relevant question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1361560/simple-virtual-filesystem-in-c-c Another similar question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/374417/is-there-an-open-source-alternative-to-windows-compound-files Edit: Added condition of in-place editing.

  • C# Modify Connection String that exists inside a library

    I have a Class Library, which inside just has a DataSet (MySQL connector) and a Connector class. I use this class in multiple projects to connect to the database, and I always had the password embedded in the connection string but now I need to be able to modify this string(for security purposes) so I can have the user connect using their own account. How can I modify this connection string. I have tried the following Properties.Settings.Default.DataBaseConnectionString = "String"; But it seems that the connection string is readonly becase it doesn't appear to have a setter value. I also tried the following with no luck Properties.Settings.Default.DatabaseConnectionString.Insert( Properties.Settings.Default.DatabaseConnectionConnectionString.Length - 1, "Password=dbpassword;");
