• Resulting .exe from PyInstaller with wxPython crashing

  I'm trying to compile a very simple wxPython script into an executable by using PyInstaller on Windows Vista. The Python script is nothing but a Hello World in wxPython. I'm trying to get that up and running as a Windows executable before I add any of the features that the program needs to have. But I'm already stuck. I've jumped through some loops in regards to MSVCR90.DLL, MSVCP90.DLL and MSVCPM90.DLL, which I ended up copying from my Visual Studio installation (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\redist\x86\Microsoft.VC90.CRT). As according to the instructions for PyInstaller, I run: Command: Configure.py Output: I: computing EXE_dependencies I: Finding TCL/TK... I: could not find TCL/TK I: testing for Zlib... I: ... Zlib available I: Testing for ability to set icons, version resources... I: ... resource update available I: Testing for Unicode support... I: ... Unicode available I: testing for UPX... I: ...UPX available I: computing PYZ dependencies... So far, so good. I continue. Command: Makespec.py -F guitest.py Output: wrote C:\Code\PromoUSB\guitest.spec now run Build.py to build the executable Then there's the final command. It's just one of those standard Windows Vista crashes. The script itself, guitest.py runs just fine by itself. It only crashes as an executable, and I'm completely lost. I don't even know what to look for, since nothing I've tried has returned any relevant results. Another file is generated as a result of the compilation process, called 'warnguitest.txt'. • Test (with RSpec) a controller outside of a Rails environment

  I'm creating a gem that will generate a controller for the Rails app that will use it. It's been a trial and error process for me when trying to test a controller. When testing models, it's been pretty easy, but when testing controllers, ActionController::TestUnit is not included (as described here). I've tried requiring it, and all similar sounding stuff in Rails but it hasn't worked. What would I need to require in the spec_helper to get the test to work? Thanks!

• Eclipse RCP application launcher not working properly in Arabic

  I have an RCP application which I build using the .product file and PDE. In my product file I create a binary launcher for different applications to provide convenience to the user. It all works fine except when testing in Arabic languages. In Arabic the application starts and it actually shows the Arabic characters that I mocked for testing but, it does not mirror. That said, if I invoke the launcher and pass the -nl switch launcher.exe -nl AR Then it mirrors. Also if I launch from the IDE with the target platform environment set to AR it mirrors too. I am shipping the bidi plugins for jface and swt (along with the NL plugins) and for the platform delta packs... Does anynone know what could be wrong with the laucher?

• Why isn't pyinstaller making me an .exe file?

  I am attempting to follow this guide to make a simple Hello World script into an .exe file. I have Windows Vista with an AMD 64-bit processor I have installed Python 2.6.5 (Windows AMD64 version) I have set the PATH (if that's the right word) so that the command line recognizes Python I have installed UPX (there only seems to be a 32-bit version for Windows) and pasted a copy of upx.exe into the Python26 folder as instructed. I have installed Pywin (Windows AMD 64 Python 2.6 version) I have run Pyinstaller's Configure.py. It gives some error messages but seems to complete. After reading gettype, and try to find some reference here, i can not get any. So, the question is what kind of type can be categorized as "unknown type" ? is it possible ? or am i just missing reading something ?

• Test assembly code on a mac

  Hello, A while back I was following some tutorials an assembly. I was running it all on a windows machine, compiling with NASM and then writing the compiled code to a floppy disk, then reboot and try the code. This process was long and time consuming and sadly was not on a mac. When I found out that Xcode for mac installed NASM I immediately tried to compile some code. The code compiled fine. The issue is testing it. On a mac I have no floppy (not like I want to use one) so Im not sure how to test this. I looked in to Q (kju) and found it would only emulate things on an ISO file. So I guess what Im asking is is it possible to install the compiled code on an ISO file for testing? (Note: the code when compiled forms a .bin file) Thanks for any help

• Ray-Box Intersection during Scene traversal with matrix transforms

  Hello: There are a few ways that I'm testing my ray-box intersections: Using the ComputeIntersectionBox(...) method, that takes a ray and a box as arguments and computes the closest intersection of the ray and the box. This method works by forming a plane with each of the faces of the box and finding an intersection with each of the planes. Once an intersection is found, a check is made whether or not the point is on the surface of the box by checking that the intersection point is between the corner points. When I look at rays after running this algorithm on two different boxes, I obtain the correct intersections. Using ComputeIntersectionScene(...) method without using the matrix transformations on a scene that has two spheres, a dodecahedron (a triangular mesh), and two boxes. ComputeIntersectionScene(...) recursively traverses all of the nodes of the scene graph and computes the closest intersection with the given ray. This test in particular does not apply any transformations that parent nodes may have that also need to be applied to their children. With this test, I also obtain the correct intersections. Using ComputeIntersectionScene(...) method WITH the matrix transformations. This test works like the one above except that before finding an intersection between the ray and a node in the scene, the ray is transformed into the node's coordinate frame using the inverse of the node's transformation matrix and after the intersection has been computed, this intersection is transformed back into the world coordinates by applying the transformation matrix to the intersection point. When testing with the third method on the same scene file as described in 2, testing with 4 rays (thus one ray intersects the one sphere, one ray the the other sphere, one ray one box, and one ray the other box), only the two spheres get intersected and the two boxes do not get intersections. When I debug looking into my ComputeIntersectionBox(...) method, it actually tells me that the ray intersects every plane on the box but each intersection point does not lie on the box. This seems to be strange behavior, since when using test 2 without transformations, I obtain the correct box intersections (thus, I believe my ray-box intersection to be correct) and when using test 3 WITH transformations, I obtain the correct sphere intersections (thus, I believe my transformed ray should be OK). Any suggestions where I could be going wrong? Thank you in advance.

  Since one of my scripts got incredibly complex, i was benchmarking the performance of moving some javascript processing logic to the server side in my ASP.NET MVC 4 application. According to taskmgr.exe, IIS Express only utilizes 13% of my i7. I decided to throw in 3 parallel tasks calculating the fibonacci sequence up to 50 and the IIS express still wouldn't utilize more than 13% of my cpu. Is there anything i can do, so that the application utilizes the full cpu, as it would in a real server ?

  I've messed with Access a little bit in the past, had one class on OO theory, and one class on console c++ apps. Now, as a hobby project, I'm undertaking to write an actual app, which will be a database app using System.Data.SQLite and C#. I have the db's table structure planned. I have System.Data.SQLite installed and connected to VS Pro. I entered my tables and columns in VS, but that's where I'm stuck. I really don't know how to finish the db set up so I can start creating queries and testing the db structure. Can someone give me guidance to online resources that will help me learn how to get the db properly set up so I can proceed with testing it? I'm hoping for online resources specific to beginners using C# and System.Data.SQLite, but I'll use the closest I can get. Thanks.

• How to casue a CppUnit test to fail - from C?

  I'd like to have an equivalent to CPPUNIT_ASSERT, CPPUNIT_ASSERT_MESSAGE or `CPPUNIT_FAIL' which I can call from some common C code. Our code is a mix of C and C++. Some older apps and those with specific requirements are coded in C and most, especially newer, are coded in C++. However, a lot of project-agnostic, common code, such as memory buffer pools, debug tracing, etc are coded in C. When testing a C++ app in CppUnit, I'd to be able to sprinkle some ASSSERT()s which would cause any running CppUnit test to fail. Maye something like: if testing if running in debugger (Eclipse) then asm("int3"); // stop the debugger, even if no breakpoint at this line else if running CppUnit test - fail the test and move on to next else trace to log file Most of that can be run by wrapping a macro around a few #ifdefs, but I am not sure how I would cause a CppUni test to fail from C code. Can it be done?

• Safari Back button not honouring PHP logout session

  I've got a logout.php page which ends a user's session and works well and does the following: session_start(); session_unset(); session_destroy(); I've just noticed when testing with Safari that when you logout you can click the back button to return to the previous page which requires authentication but are not prompted. You cannot navigate away from this page without entering the navigation but it should not be displaying the previous page in the first place. So far in my testing this is only an issue with Safari on Mac OS X and there are a number of other reports about this but with no resolution that I could find: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web_Development/Web_Languages-Standards/PHP/Q_23702691.html I would love to be able to disable this behaviour with Safari's back button - surprised that this is happening in the first place. Every executable I pass to popen fails with a msg: sh: sort: not found // happens to any command This happens regardless whether I point to the full path returned by "type" or keep it short . As mentioned earlier, this happens at only one testing environment, to add confusion, am running the same OS and had no problem whatsoever. Popen is apparently using sh to execute commands, but if I run the same command thru the prompt (bash or sh), everything's fine Thanks in advance (PS: even tried Python os.popen just to nail this head scratcher, and it works!)   I am using CM Synergy 6.4.3410 version And each time i do a code change ,if some one else does check in on same file its nightmare We need to reconcile it and take latest version from server then manually do the merging and check in . There is an option for merge in reconcile window,but it actually creates a parallel version. I have found out that Synergy does not do a smart merge.Even though the changes done are in different lines of the file

  I'm trying to write a Perl script that will work better with KDE's kwrited, which, as far as I can tell, is connected to a pts and puts every line it receives through the KDE system tray notifications, with the title "KDE write daemon". Unfortunately, it makes a separate notification for each and every line, so it spams up the system tray with multiline messages on regular old write, and for some reason it cuts off the entire last line of the message when using wall (One-line messages are also goners.). I was also hoping to make it so that it could broadcast across a LAN with thick clients. Before starting on that (which would require ssh, of course), I tried to make an ssh-less version to make sure it works. • Changing Render Kits in Browser

  I'm working on a project to develop a cross-browser testing web app. Simply put, I'm tired of having to maintain multiple browsers on the same system and IE in VMware solely for the purpose of testing. Does anyone know if there is any way to change the render kit programmatically? For example, if I insert a URL, I would be able to load the URL and switch the browser render within a frame of some assortment. I am experienced with PHP, JS, and RoR if there is a solution using any of those. Thank you! John

  We are developing a rather large WPF based application and would like to include some automated UI testing in our test suite (which already contains a number of unit tests). The UI Automation Framework from Microsoft partly sounds like a perfect fit for programatically launching and interacting with the application in a test setup. However, I've struggled to find solid references for samples and experiences with the technology, the articles and small samples available on MSDN is not enough to convince me that it is a solid choice. So, does anybody have real world experiences using the UI Automation Framework in their test suite? What are the caveats and the gotchas? Any best practices when written tests scripts, can you "record and replay" to a scriptable format, how much should you facilitate the testing from the application, how did you incorporate it in the automatic build? Should we be looking in another direction than the UI Automation Framework? Feel free to post you experiences here or link to some good references I might have missed

• CDOSYS and Unicode in the from field - vbScript.

  I've got the code below, and I'm trying to set the from field to allow unicode. Currently in my email client I get "??". The subject line and any content shows the unicode correctly. And looking at the MSDN the property should be "urn:schemas:httpmail:from". Anyone solved this issue?   Hi All, I have question on the Android API. Android API provides a class called "Instrumentation" class. What is the use of this class? Is the Instrumentation class be used only together with Junit for unit testing. Can Junit framework can be used to test the methods of the Android API without using the Instrumentation class. Since Junit package has been included in the Android package, I hope we dont need to use install separately for unit testing. I would appreciate if you could provide me the information as i can't find these clear information anywhere on the Web. • Ruby Error: "No such file or directory -- script/generate (LoadError)"

  Hey all, I know that this error has been discussed elsewhere on the web, and this may seem like a stupid question, but I've got a very strange situation on my hands here. I'm running on Snow Leopard, with fully updated ruby and rails gems. I created a new rails project (ruby new testing), then navigated into that folder (cd ~/testing), and tried to create a basic scaffolding (ruby script/generate scaffold newtest name:string), and I got this error back: "ruby: No such file or directory -- script/generate (LoadError)" I have searched google thoroughly and tried to implement every solution that I could, but nothing has been working. I don't understand why I have this error or how to fix it. Can anyone help me, please?
