• MySQL Join Question

  Hi i'm struggling to write a particular MySQL Join Query. I have a table containing product data, each product can belong to multiple categories. This m:m relationship is satisfied using a link table. For this particular query I wish to retrieve all products belonging to a given category, but with each product record, I also want to return the other categories that product belongs to. Ideally I would like to achieve this using an Inner Join on the categories table, rather than performing an additional query for each product record, which would be quite inefficient. My simplifed schema is designed roughly as follows: products table: product_id, name, title, description, is_active, date_added, publish_date, etc.... categories table: category_id, name, title, description, etc... product_category table: product_id, category_id I have written the following query, which allows me to retrieve all the products belonging to the specified category_id. However, i'm really struggling to work out how to retrieve the other categories a product belongs to. SELECT p.product_id, p.name, p.title, p.description FROM prod_products AS p LEFT JOIN prod_product_category AS pc ON pc.product_id = p.product_id WHERE pc.category_id = $category_id AND UNIX_TIMESTAMP(p.publish_date) < UNIX_TIMESTAMP() AND p.is_active = 1 ORDER BY p.name ASC I'd be happy just retrieving the category id's releated to each returned product row, as I will have all category data stored in an object, and my application code can take care of the rest. • Icons in menu are smaller than they should be

  Hello I have a little problem. All the icons in my apk are smaller than the same icons in other apps (Gmail etc.) This is how it looks like in my apk and this is the same icon in Gmail.apk. I have copied these icons directly from SDK to the specific folders for hdpi, mdpi and ldpi. Here is an example of a hdpi icon I use and my menu.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <menu xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:id="@+id/refresh" android:title="@string/refresh" android:icon="@drawable/ic_menu_refresh" /> <item android:id="@+id/add" android:title="@string/add" android:icon="@drawable/ic_menu_add" /> <item android:id="@+id/login" android:title="@string/account" android:icon="@drawable/ic_menu_login" /> </menu> Does anybody know how to make these icon have the same size as in other apk's? I have tried the asset studio with no effect. UPDATE: If I reference an icon directly from android (android:drawable) then it has normal size. However not all icons can be referenced.

  Playing with Ruby and Ruby-Pandoc. Seems like a nice tool, if I can get it to work. I'd like to convert some Markdown text (with embedded lists and other fanciness) to Rich Text.   We have a series of internal reports that we update regularly from our internal databases. We built an application in C# that uploads these reports to a Google Site. Everything works fine, except that the name of the file shown to the final user in the File Cabinet does not include the original spaces nor the extension separator (.) • jquery XML, i need .html() not .text() but not working?

  I need var long to be exported as html and not text. I know I have .text() but when I use .html() it will not work. Also if I take the .text() out when declaring the variable and it will not work in IE? The reason for this is, in the XML certain words will have html tags like or and I need those to be recognized. • click event working in Chrome but error in Firefox and IE

  I am writing a messaging system with jquery. When you click on a thread title with the class '.open_message', It opens a thread with all the messages for that thread via Ajax. My issue is that when the thread title is clicked it is not recognizing the id attribute for that specific thread title in firefox and IE. It works fine in chrome, though.   I want to put a space after all the headers using CSS. Like this: if h1 = add a space after else if h1 + h2 = add a space after also but no space in between This is my HTML code <article> <h1>Title 1</h1> ... </article> <article> <h1>Title 1</h1> <h2>Title 2</h2> ... </article> For the CSS h1, h2 { padding-bottom: 20px; } The problem is, there is a space also between h1 and h2. I tried this code below but only those articles with h1 and h2 have a space after. h1 + h2 { padding-bottom: 20px;} Is there a way to do this? Or I should just use the h1 + h2 in CSS and add < br for h1 only?

• spaces or %20 in links turn into + signs when page is sent as an email

  I am creating a web app that accepts input of news items (title, article, url). It has a page news.php which creates a summary of all news items inputted for specified dates, like so: News 4/25/2010 Title 1 [URL 1] Article 1 Title 2 [URL 2] Article 2 and so on... I have two other pages, namely preview.php and send.php , both of which call news.php through a file_get_contents() call. Everything works fine except when the URL contains spaces. During Preview, the urls get opened (FF: spaces are spaces, Chrome: spaces are %20). However, during Send, when received as emails, the urls don't get opened, because the spaces are converted into + signs. For example: 1. Preview in FF: http://www.example.com/this is the link.html 2. Preview in Chrome: http://www.example.com/this%20is%20the%20link.html 3. Viewed as email in both browsers: http://www.example.com/this+is+the+link.html Only #3 doesn't work (link doesn't get opened). Why are the spaces in the urls correct (spaces or %20) when previewed, but incorrect (+) when received in the emails, when in fact, the same page is generated by the same news.php? Any help appreciated :)

Thank you for the help. EDIT: I found that the source of the error is the xml element's ID attribute, where seems to be what is causing the error. How can I correctly insert xml with an attribute ? Do I need to somehow escape one of the characters?

• XmlSerializer - There was an error reflecting type

  Using C# .NET 2.0, I have a composite data class that does have the [Serializable] attribute on it. I am creating an XMLSerializer class and passing that into the constructor: XmlSerializer serializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(DataClass)); I am getting an exception saying: There was an error reflecting type. Inside the data class there is another composite object. Does this also need to have the [Serializable] attribute or by having it on the top object does it recursively apply it to all objects inside? Any thoughts?
