• which version control system will allow only one user to work on a file at a time?

  id like it so when i check out a file no one else can edit it until i check it back in. is there a version control that allows me to do this? i currently use subversion and i know it has the 'lock' feature but i want it to do that automatically without me having to request it on each file im working on.

  I want to handle a feature which seems to me almost natural with programs, and I don't know how to handle it with Getopt perl package (no matter Std ot Long). I would like something like: ./perlscript <main option> [some options like -h or --output-file some_name] Options will be handled with - or --, but I want to be able to let the user give me the main and needed option without dashes. Is Getopt able to do that, or do I have to handle it by hand?

Once in a while, I have to share code between these codebases, or, sometimes I use an incorrect amount of indentation by mistake. That is, the root directory of the project maps to the root directory of the repository. Now I want to create a feature branch, but there's no good place to put it.   Why is that when I search a row in my database, it ended up 0 results? In fact, there are rows that meet my search criterion when I view them manually, but the search button doesnt work as it is. Heres how you can see there are rows that have '0000-00-00 00:00:00' in them, but when I used the search feature, it ended up like this: take note that Im entering it in the right field which is 'AcctStopTime'. • How does SO's form remember previous input values?

  I've noticed that the Title or Body part is remembered if I come back to the Ask Question page by pressing Back button of my browser. This feature is available in all browsers I tested, but doesn't exist for the forms in my own projects. How can I approach that effect? UPDATE I still don't have any clue yet,but guess it that some kind of client cache enabled by http headers or javascript?
