• Upgrade Nokia Maps from v2 to v3 fails

  I'm trying to install Nokia Maps 3.0 on my Nokia N82, without much success. I believe other similar Nokia phones have the same problem. My phone is connected through USB in "PC Suite" mode, and the latest firmware available for N82 is installed. I currently have Maps 2.0 installed. I'm installing from a Windows XP PC, and tried the update first from within Ovi Suite (latest version) and from Nokia Maps Updater (latest version). In both cases it detects that there is an update available (Maps 3.0), downlowds it and starts the install. On my phone, I then get the following error message: Unable to install. Component is built in. And on the PC I get the error Error Cannot update maps application. The installation failed or was cancelled on the phone (18). I found an entry for Maps in the App. manager and deleted it (and turned phone off and on again afterwards), but this didn't make any difference (and I don't think it changed the version of Maps installed either). This is the release version of Maps 3.0, not the beta. I found the problem mentioned many times on various web sites, but couldn't find a solution anywhere. Has anybody any ideas how to get the upgrade from Maps 2.0 to Maps 3.0 to work?

• Outlook 2010 OSC with SharePoint 2010 documentation or help

  I'm looking for documentation or help to set up Outlook 2010's social connector to work with SharePoint 2010. I can't find much info other than some MS videos and blogs saying that it's possible. They say "we are already connected to SharePoint, so let's add in the XYZ connector..." but don't tell how they connected to SharePoint. Server A: Win2K8 x64, Exchange 2010 x64, domain controller Server B: Win2K8 x64, domain member, SQL Server 2008 R2, SharePoint 2010 Client: Win 7, domain member, with Office 2010 RTM (most every component installed, including the OSC) I've added my domain users to a group. In SharePoint, I granted that domain group permissions to access the site. As any of the domain users, I can use IE to log on the My Sites pages. From there, I can add lists, blog posts, status updates etc. In Outlook, I can add a SharePoint contact to my Contacts list. But, all I see in the People Pane is emails my users have exchanged. I don't see any of the other SharePoint status updates. When I try to use the "Add this person to a social network" link to connect them with my My Sites, the process fails. It doesn't give any sort of error message that helps me figure out why. Just a "Try Again" button that likewise fails. Any guides, links, suggestions? I'm pretty novice-level with SharePoint but mildly adept with the other technologies.

• Remote Desktop Network Level Authentication Not Supported

  I'm running Windows XP Professional SP3 x86, trying to connect to a system with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64. Recently, I updated the Remote Desktop Connection software on the XP system in hopes of using Network Level Authentication (NLA) for my connections to the Windows 7 box. After the update, I connected to the Windows 7 box over RDP and enabled NLA believing that the updated client should support it. After disconnecting and attempting to reconnect, I'm presented with the following error: The remote computer requires Network Level Authentication, which your computer does not support. For assistance, contact your system administrator or technical support. So, I checked the About page in Remote Desktop Connection to make sure the update had applied. This is what I see. Remote Desktop Connection Shell Version 6.1.7600 Control Version 6.1.7600 © 2007 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Network Level Authentication not supported. Remote Desktop Protocol 7.0 supported. I thought NLA was supposed to be a part of RDP 7.0 clients. Is there a component I'm missing somewhere?

  I recently replaced my motherboard after the last one failed (was shorting and causing random reboots). I'm sure this was not healthy for the machine, and that a clean install would do wonders, but I'd like to fix the current install. That aside, I've been tracking down a pair of errors in the application log. • Unable to logon using terminal server connection

  I have several W2K3 SP2 servers, admin TS enabled. I discovered this morning, I was unable to logon into some of them. I've a couple of Citrix servers in different farms, a SAP (IA64) app server and a cvs server. All of them show same sympthoms; remote connections are refused. I've been able to logon locally, and terminal server service is up, there are no users (so connections are not depleted). There are no errors in log in most servers. One of the Citrix ones, reported following errors: Event ID 50 Source TermDD Type Error Description The RDP protocol component X.224 detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client. and Event ID 1006 Source TermService Type Error Description The terminal server received large number of incomplete connections. The system may be under attack. Anyway, I suppose these errors appear because server isn't working, and Citrix users try to logon massively. (I nmap'ed server and port seems up). I've solved this problem rebooting before, but with so many servers affected it seems like a crappy workaround. Any idea about troubleshooting it properly? Thanks in advance

• PC won't boot after hanging during Windows 8 automatic repair [closed]

  I've got a custom built PC using an ASUS P5E motherboard and Intel Q6600 CPU. I plugged in my mp3 player to the USB port yesteday, and when I came back to the machine after about an hour or so, the Windows 8 automatic repair message was on the screen. It seemed to stick there for an hour, after which I decided to just hit reset and try and figure out what was going on. However, the machine rebooted to a black screen before even getting to the BIOS, with the monitor lights just blinking indicating there was no signal. Tried powering down completely, waiting a few minutes and then powering back up again with no difference; black screen with monitor lights blinking. Tried leaving it on for a while and then pinging from another machine or accessing it via something like LogMeIn, but everything showed the machine as being offline. There were also no error beeps or anything like that. Also tried unplugging all of the memory and rebooting and that also caused no error beeps. Removed one of the display cards and left the other one in there, and still only a black screen. I'm inclined to think that the motherboard or CPU is fried, but there is no indication of damage on any components and the CPU fan seems to be working fine as it always has, so overheating seems unlikely. It's also plugged into a surge protector. The motherboard also has a green light which still lights up. As everything was still working fine before hitting the reset button during Windows 8 automatic repair screen, at which point everything stopped working, it seems unlikely that this problem is down to component failure. Has anyone else experienced anything like this or have any ideas on what could be causing this behavior?

• How can I connect integrated webcam with virtualbox

  I am trying to use a Windows XP VM for VirtualBox on my Windows 8.1 laptop. I have tried the usual attaching USB device but I get an error saying "USB device is busy with previous request". My webcam is not active in any applications and this happens after a clean reboot of the host, the guest, and VirtualBox. Here are the details: Host -HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC (stock) -Windows 8.1 -AMD A10-5750M APU -HP Truevision HD (integrated webcam) VM I got the VM here: http://www.modern.ie/en-us/virtualization-tools VirtualBox -VirtualBox 4.3.12 installed -VirtualBox Extension pack installed -Guest additions are installed for 4.3.12 -Enable USB Controller is checked -It does not matter if enable 2.0 controller is checked or not -It does not matter if a USB device filter is set up for the webcam or not -Here is the error message: Failed to attach the USB device DDFEQ01G45BFBV HP Truevision HD [0004] to the virtual machine IE8 - WinXP. • Windows errors, how do I find root cause and fix it? Getting several errors

  My server is having issues and not responding to customer's https requests. I checked the event viewer and found several errors. These two are listed a couple of times: WINS encountered a database error. This may or may not be a serious error. WINS will try to recover from it. You can check the database error events under 'Application Log' category of the Event Viewer for the Exchange Component, ESENT, source to find out more details about database errors. If you continue to see a large number of these errors consistently over time (a span of few hours), you may want to restore the WINS database from a backup. The error number is in the second DWORD of the data section. And this one: An error occured while using SSL configuration for socket address 0.0.0.0:444. The error status code is contained within the returned data. SQL Server is not ready to accept new client connections. Wait a few minutes before trying again. If you have access to the error log, look for the informational message that indicates that SQL Server is ready before trying to connect again. [CLIENT: xxx.xxx.xxxx.xxx] I also found this in the event viewer but the computer has been restarted since this message and I have not seen it again. Configuring the Page file for crash dump failed. Make sure there is a page file on the boot partition and that is large enough to contain all physical memory. This is my virtual memory settings: I'm not familiar with WINS so I wasn't sure if that is where I start or how to resolve it. Is the WINS error causing the other problems or should I be looking somewhere else?

• Does the Lenovo t60p vga port support an s-video signal?

  I just bought a new television. The problem is it turns out it doesn't have a VGA port. It does have: s-video, component, hdmi and scart. My Lenovo t60p only has vga. If have search frantically for a solution and even though it seems I have sooo many options they are all dead ends. Or I keep ending up having to buy a 100 euro box to convert the signal. However, I found that some video cards support s-video through the vga port. It says look it up in your video cards documentation. I have a Lenovo t60p laptop with a ATI MOBILITY FireGl v5250. But I can't seem to get my hands on any documentation where this is supposed to be documented. I found this website: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=179529&highlight=s-video There this guy says he thinks it's in the t60 but dropped in the t61, but suggests to the guy with the t60 that it won't work. I can't really conclude anything from that. Furthermore, I am not looking for the best of the best quality. Except that I don't think I can order it because I don't live in the US. Can anybody give me a definite answer, to whether the vga port of my lenovo t60p ati firegl v5250 supports s-video? So that I can just by a vga to s-video cable to achieve my goal.

• Install IIS on Server 2003 unattended via PowerShell as a service user (no terminal session)

  I've been racking my brain with this for a bit and figured I would ask here to see if anyone could enlighten me. As the title says, I'm trying to install the IIS role on Server 2003 using an unattended install method launched via a service. We're using RightScale and most of what we want to accomplish is pretty straightforward. I created an unattend file for use with sysocmgr.exe: [Components] iis_common = ON iis_www = ON iis_www_vdir_scripts = ON iis_inetmgr = ON fp_extensions = ON iis_ftp = ON And I invoke it like so: sysocmgr.exe /i:%windir%\inf\sysoc.inf /u:C:\path\to\iis-unattend.txt /r /x /q If I run that from a command prompt while logged in as Administrator it works just fine, but if it runs via RightScript (the RightScale user on the server, which is a local admin) it fails somewhere in the middle and the logs I get are rather unhelpful. The thing is I can do this same thing with the SNMP Client (which is a Windows component, not a server role) and it works with no problems while run via the script service user. My best guess is that sysocmgr.exe is expecting a GUI element to be there during the role installation and since the service user has no terminal session it coughs and dies. That's just a wild stab in the dark.

• SCCM 2012 Clients no longer detecting

  Here is the scenario I had a fully functioning SCCM 2012 site server with the DP, MP, SUP, Application catalog, etc. roles configured and working. There is only one server on this site. Everything was great but i was not happy with SUP, so i decided to create a separate WSUS server and configure Windows Updates through GPOs. That setup worked great as well so i went ahead and removed the SUP role from SCCM and removed the WSUS feature from my SCCM server (they were configured on the same SCCM Server). I did not notice any problems right away. A couple days later i noticed that the OSD deployments were giving errors, and after a couple hours of trying suggestions from Google, i was able to uninstall PXE and make a few changes and reinstall with WDS to get it working again. Again, thought everything was fine and continued on. The last couple days i have noticed that any new machine deployed or installing the Client will show in the SCCM console as "No" Client. The client machines will show connected to a site but the software center shows "IT Organization" instead of our site like the previous clients. The existing clients all seem to be functioning normally. they still receive application distributions and configuration baselines, etc. Reinstalling, uninstalling and reinstalling, repairing does not fix the problems and this happens on all new clients. ClientLocation.log shows it connecting to the correct MP. • how to authenticate once for multiple servers, using only apache configs?

  My problem is, I have a number of prepackaged web apps (a print system, a wiki, a bug tracker, an email archive, etc.) running on different Mac OS X Leopard (soon to be SL) servers that each need to authenticate users from the internet at large. Right now every server presents an Apache basic authentication prompt, which takes a shared login, but it's apparently enough of an inconvenience to log in repeatedly that people are sending email without checking the wiki or bug tracker or archive. In the case of the bug tracker, a user [might need to log in twice---once for apache if he hasn't used any other protected service on that server, once for the bug tracker itself so it can distinguish different people. Since the only common component to all these apps is Apache 2 itself, does it have any way of authenticating a user once, in some way that will be respected by other servers and various web apps? Looked at http://serverfault.com/questions/32421/how-is-session-stickiness-achieved-across-multiple-web-servers but it sounds like the answer is assuming that I get to write my own web app. Looked at Ian Bicking's blog but it's four years old and recommends something available only for apache 1.3, not apache 2. Sorry not to hyperlink the second site---apparently I need 10 reputation points. Edit: Shibboleth does what I need, but I should have specified that I'm looking for a really dumb, really simple solution for in-house services that need to handle all of a dozen users, probably not more than three at a time.

There are no formula involved. I already checked for extra spaces. Immediately reapplying the Remove Duplicates command does not remove the remaining duplicate values. Reapplying the Remove Duplicates command after a reverse-sort seems to remove the remaining duplicates. Reverse-sorting before using the first Remove Duplicates changes the result (213 duplicate values removed and 387 unique values remained), only in the non-suffixed non-prefixed group. Can you reproduce this bug in Excel 2007 like I do? What triggers it? Could it the composite (numbers and text) data set? I'm not looking for alternatives. I want to know when not to use the feature and revert to already known (Excel 2003 era) alternatives.

  According to the wikipedia page, Microsoft Live Sync will shortly stop offering the PC-to-PC sync service. There are lots of apps to sync two PCs on the same LAN, but I want to sync two PCs that are in different cities, across the internet, traversing two different NATs, and that requires some kind of service running in the internet that both connect into. There is already a few questions about syncing folders and files, but this is not a duplicate because none of them answer this basic question: Microsoft Live Sync works better than RSYNC, or any of the linked SYNC solutions in any of the "not really duplicates" because it works even when the two PCs have NAT and firewalls between them that forbid direct connectivity, because Windows Live Sync has a free always-on internet server that all the client PCs connect into. I'm looking for a FREE (no-fees) Microsoft Live Sync work-alike PC-to-PC sync solution that works between PCs and Macs, at least, as well as between PCs, and works behind NAT and firewalls at least as well as Microsoft's solution. • A-2-Z web hosting on Amazon AWS

  All, I am studying web dvp, and one of my classes is project-based. We have to build a functional site that demonstrate our understanding of: HTML, CSS, Javascript, php, MySQL, And potentially Ajax or some other web component. For the project, we can use a local server using WampServer and basically build the site entirely on our laptop. If I have time, I would like to create a real site, and I thought it would be a good way to familiarize myself with Amazon's AWS services. So if I purchase a domain name, can I rely on AWS to host the site from A-to-Z? I understand I can use AWS to host content, the database, and do the background computations, if needed. What else do I need and what are the parts that AWS cannot help me with? Second, is there good documentation for a beginner to navigate AWS and learn how to use it (either on Amazon, or some 3rd party sites, or even a good book, as long as is up to date). The ideal documentation would be a tutorial on creating a web site from a-to-z on AWS, as detailed as possible. As you can guess, I have limited understanding of the IT issues. • SkyDrive broken after upgrade to Windows 8.1: "This location can't be found, please try later"

  Upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 via the Store upgrade path has screwed my SkyDrive. The C:\Users\<user name>\SkyDrive folder is empty (it only has single file desktop.ini). When I open the native (Store) SkyDrive app, I see "This location can't be found, please try later". I'm glad to still have my files alive online in my SkyDrive account. I tried disconneting from / reconnecting to my Microsoft Account with no luck. Anyone has an idea on how to fix this without reinstalling/refreshing Windows 8.1? • Is the exhaust fan necessary?

  On my new PC, the component making the most noise is the rear exhaust fan on my case (it is the only exhaust fan in my PC). I tried to disconnect it and watched temperatures in SpeedFan and CPU was usually at about 35C, peaking to about 50C when the system was under load - this doesn't look too bad. So I'm considering that I'll leave the exhaust fan disconnected permanently after which the computer is very quiet - the only noise-making components are Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 (CPU fan) and PSU fan (Enermax Pro 82+), both being quiet enough as far as I can tell. (My GPU has a passive cooler.) Also, those 2 components are moving parts so will provide some air flow in the case and, even better, PSU fan sucks the air out of the case so it kind of is an exhaust fan in itself. Does anyone run with the exhaust fan disconnected? You don't have to tell me that it's always better to have more air flow than less, I know that, but the noise is also a consideration for me and temperatures around 40C should be fine shouldn't they? (I might also consider getting a quieter case fan but I'm specifically interested in your opinion on the no exhaust fan scenario.)

• Domain workstation acting up and I can't track it down.

• Registry remotley hacked win 7 need help tracking the perp

  I was writing some .VBS code at thhe office that would allow certain file extensions to be downloaded without a warning dialog on a w7x32 system. The system I was writing this on is in a lab on a segmented subnet. All web access is via a proxy server. The only means of accessing my machine is via the internet or from within the labs MSFT AD domain. While writing and testing my code I found a message of sorts. Upon refresing the registry to verify my code changed a dword, instead the message HELLO was written and visible in regedit where the dword value wass called for. I took a screen shot and proceeded to edit my code. This same weird behavior occurred last time I was writing registry code except on another internal server. I understand that remote registry access exists for windows systems. I will block this immediately once I return to the office. What I want to know is, can I trace who made this connection? How would I do this? I suspect the cause of this is the cause of other "odd" behaviors I'm experiencing at work such as losing control of my input director master control for over an hour and unchanged code that all of a sudden fails for no logical region. These failures occur at funny times, whenver I'm about to give a demonstration of my test code. I know this sounds crazy however knowledge of the registry component makes this believable. Once the registry can be accessed, the entire system is compromised. Any help or sanity checking is appreciated.

• Directory tree in a Resource without extraction...

  Hi all, i am looking for a way to store a complete directory including sub directories in an application's resource and not have to extract it to use it. Details: We would like to use GeckoFx (Gecko as C# Component) in one of our applications. GeckoFX needs the XUL-Runner and needs to find it's folder structure We have some other data which I would not prefer to extracted to the customer's pc; At least not onto something persistent like a hdd... Getting the complete directory into the resources is not that kind of a big deal. Compress to one file and done. But not writing it to the disk to use it is something else. I have a strong dislike against temp folders and such things. Would anything like a RAM drive be possible? Some part of the RAM beeing mounted? Does something like this even exist as a lib, or would this only be possible by a device driver? Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance! Corelgott

• CSS and JS files not being updated, supposedly because of Nginx Caching

  I have my web app working with AppCache and I would like that when I modify my html/css/js files, and then update my Cache Manifest, that when the user accesses my web app, they will have an updated version of those files. If I change an HTML file, it works perfectly, but when I change CSS and JS files, the old version is still being used. I've been checking everything out and I think it's related to my nginx configuration.   I have dual booted Ubuntu Linux 12.04.1 LTS on my Samsung Series 5 ChromeBook, and am trying to run/install Oracle VirtualBox (from the generic .run file downloaded from their website). However, every time I try to run it (as root from the command line), it gives me the following error occurs: Please install the build and header files for your current Linux kernel. The current kernel version is 3.4.0 Problems were found which would prevent VirtualBox from installing. I have tried the version from the Software Center, as well as the command line installation, both of which gave me errors based on my linux-headers/linux-kernel/linux-[kernel]-image.
