  • Apache/2.2.20 (Ubuntu 11.10) gzip compression won't work on php pages, content is chunked

    I'm running into a problem with a new production server whereto I'm transferring projects. The HTML output of the PHP applications isn't compressed by the Apache mod_deflate module. Other resources, as stylesheet and javascript files, even html pages, which are served with the same Content-type (text/html) as the PHP output, are compressed! On that machine the compression works just fine on the PHP output. I've checked and compared Apache and PHP config files, all the same as far as I can tell. I've tried several manners of outputting the content of the PHP, using output buffering or just plain echoing the content. Same thing, no compression.   • Large quotation marks in Word?

    Is there a simple way in MS Word to get large quotation marks tightly round a paragraph of text, like you might see in print media to mark a quote? If you simply increase the font size of the quote character, it moves too far away from the text it's accompanying. Worse, the first and last lines start to detach from the rest of the paragraph.   • Ubuntu 10.04 boot splash screen and themes broken

    I recently upgraded to the release candidate of Ubuntu 10.04. Since then, two problems have occurred and persisted: the boot splash screen has reduced down to a black screen with random color blocks/text/gibberish at the top; and the themes are broken, as in the light themes have checkboxes in menus the same color as the background, and the dark themes don't correctly change the font colors in the top menu. Help? On a side note, is there a need to upgrade from 10.04 RC to LTS?

  • Printing barcode labels

    I am trying to print barcodes for a library. I have generated a list of sequential numbers and copied them into Word 2003. I want Library name, barcode font, barcode number printed in an Avery 5160 label sheet. I can get it to work by going to tools, letters and mailing, Envelopes and Labels, labels tab and type in what data I want. I don't see how I can pull this data from the list in the word document rather than just what I type.

  • Is it possible to change the look and feel of remote X applications running under Xming?

    I am running Eclipse remotely right now, in Xming on my Windows pc, through an ssh tunnel from my laptop running Ubuntu 11.10. As seen below, it doesn't look that bad, but it seems that my applications defaults to the standard theme when it cannot find any others for GTK+ applications. Is there anything I can do about this? Also it would be nice if I could do something about the font settings to make it more easily readable.

If MediaElement does not provide such functionality, how could it be implemented or what other control could I use? So far I have tried using a web browser and rendering the page, then going to the document property and grabbing the text. This works, but only where the browser is supported (IE com object). The problem is I want this to be able to run under wine also, so I need a solution that doesn't use IE COM. There must be a programatic way to do this that is reasonable.

  • ASP Classic Session Variable Not Always Getting Set

    I have a classic ASP site I'm maintaining and recently we wanted to do special rendering actions if the visitor was coming from one specific set of websites. So in the page where those visitors have to come through to get to our site, I put a simple line setting a session variable: <!-- #include virtual="/clsdbAccess.cs"--> <% set db = new dbAccess %> <html> <head> ... <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> ... </script> </head> <body> <% Session("CAME_FROM_NEWSPAPER") = "your local newspaper" ... %> ... html stuff ... </body> </html> Then, in all the following pages, whenever I need to put up nav links, menus, etc., that we don't want to show to those visitors, I test for if that session variable is "" or not, then render accordingly. My problem is that it seems to work great for me in development, then I get it out into Production and it works great sometimes, and other times it doesn't work at all. Sometimes the session variable gets set, sometimes it doesn't. Everything else works great. But our client is seeing inconsistent results on pages rendered to their visitors and this is a problem. I've tried logging on from different PC's and I confirm that I get different, and unpredictable, results. The problem is I can't reproduce it at will, and I can't troubleshoot/trace Production. For now I've solved this by just creating duplicate pages with the special rendering, and making sure those visitors go there. But this is a hack and will eventually be difficult to maintain. Is there something special or inconsistent about session variables in Classic ASP? Is there a better way to approach the problem? TIA.

    Hello. I'm new in jqgrid, I'm just trying thes example to work. I have a html file only, nothing more. When I ran this file, array data is not showing. What am I missing here?
