  • Menu MouseOver Image & Image Description Dsiplay from SQL Database

    Hello, I don't know if this is the right place to post this but here I go. I'm working on a project as a student for my internship and I need help. I have a masterPage with horizontal menu items as shown in the attached screen-captured. What I want to achieved is: Have a default image and description from SQL server database When a user mouse-over the menu item, display an image from a SQL server database and it description based on the mouse-over menu item. When user mouse-out, display default image and description from sql database. I have a also created user interface for inserting images to the database.   • Windows MAchine Debugging

    I've been learning how to program for Windows for some time now and am getting pretty comfy with COM. I had thought to go over to Linux and do some C++ programming there and I wished to run Rosetta Commons so I installed Fedora. I had tried installing Ubuntu a few months ago and things got messy. I had a glitch, maybe caused by one of the live cd creators, my video card or something I don't know. Who Crashed suggested it was my video card and I had regular messages about ntfs.sys and page file issues. At any rate I just installed Fedora and the same thing is happening again. I would like to think with the twenty five years of doing this that I might finally make some headway into debugging my system. I think I may have overlooked a lot of what could be done in favor of simply uninstalling, reinstalling and formatting and starting from scratch. I have opened up the folder windows debugging tools, quite accidentally and just before I was going to clean sweep again, and I found KD and WinDbg. I had never seen these before and I felt that maybe I should look into this. I am quite familiar with the modern machine that is known as the computer, I know what a Kernel is and am now pretty familiar with at the very least Windows Operating System Services. I wish to begin tracking my own machines errors. I understand that most kernel debugging is done on a second machine but I don't have one. And also I understand the goal of the debugger seems to be less about run of the mill errors and more about development time strategies but I'm sure there is more to this. This is my first go at this and I thought maybe I could get some suggestions on where to go from here. I would really like to learn ways to fix my machine and also maybe pick up some tricks on the dev side as well. I hope this isn't too broad a question or too generalized. I'm really just looking for the keywords and an overview of the more routine strategies used. thx

  • Twitter oauth php problems

    I'm writing some backend script for a twitter app and heres how it's going On the app you click a button that sends you to login.php on my server which logs into my database connects to twitter with my consumer key and secret: $to = new TwitterOAuth($consumer_key, $consumer_secret); $tok = $to->getRequestToken(); $request_link = $to->getAuthorizeURL($tok); and then writes the token and secret to the database, sets a session equal to the id in the database of the token and secret and then redirects to the "$request_link" You then go through the process of logging in and such on twitter and it redirects you to callback.php on my server Callback.php consists of logging into the database again, getting the new token and secret, and then writing the new token and secret to the database and then prompts you to go back to the app Then on the app, all I'm trying to do is access the basic credentials$to->get('account/verify_credentials') and it keeps coming back "could not authenticate you" What am I doing wrong?? If I go to http://www.site.com/about I get a 404 error.   • SVN correct directory structure

    I followed this tutorial to setup SVN on my Fedora box http://www.ashishkulkarni.com/installing-subversion-on-fedora-linux/ It worked. However, there is no trunk, tags or branches when I set this up. In the tutorial he creates a sandbox project /svn/repos/sandbox Now I am assuming that all projects will go under repos /svn/repos/project1 /svn/repos/project2 When I view the project there are no trunk, tags or branches, I have not yet checked in any project, will these appear when I do that? As I understand all my files should go below the trunk. What are the tags and branches for? Just some clarification about the structure would be nice. Thanks.

  • Javascript working in Firefox but not in IE -

    I have this authnav='<li class="last"><a href="auth/login">login</a></li>'+ '<li><a href="auth/create_account">create account</a></li>'; It works fine in Firefox, but Internet Explorer gives me an "Error: Object doesn't support this property or method" I'm mystified - what could be going on here? There's a comment line above the offending line, could that possibly be making a difference? //authnav='<li class="last"><a href="auth/login">login</a></li>'; Check out the page yourself at http://www.imagineelection.com.   • How can I get all the .pdb files in the same folder?

    I have a solution in Visual Studio 2008, it has dozens of projects. I would like to have all the pdb in the same folder. From the property page of a project I see that the pdb will go to the "Intermediate Directory"; also .obj files go to the "Intermediate Directory". Each of our projects has its own folder because we want to keep the .obj separated, at the same time I would like to have all the pdb in the same folder. Looking at the buildlog.htm I see the option /PDB which controls the pdb path, this option doesn't seem to me available in the property page. Maybe I will have to use a post buil script?

  • C++ inheritance question

    Hi guys, I have a C++ inheritance related question. I have a set of classes like this (I have not given the complete class structure coz I am lazy :) ). I want to access chiComponent class public methods using com pointer. How should I go about it? Note that I am having to change the object which "com" is pointing to in a lot of places.   • Crystal Reports Formula Workshop boolean condition to string

    I'm currently trying to create a report using Crystal Reports that comes with Visual Studio 2008. I would like to include a field of type boolean on my report that shows a string rather than true or false. The string should contain either contain a € or a % sign. How would I go about doing this in the Formula Workshop? I've tried things like e.g. if {tblAankoopDetails.SoortKorting} = true then "€" else "%" However this never seems to work and results in warnings such as "The formula result must be a number". This should be fairly simple but this is my first go at using Crystal Reports. Help would be much appreciated. Jay

  • Inheriting from List<T> in .NET (vb or C#)

    I have been delved in C++ world for a while, but now I'm in .NET world again, VB and C# and I wondered if you have a class that represents a collection of something, and you want the ability to use this in a foreach loop, etc... is it better to implement IEnumerable and IEnumerator yourself or should you inherit from the List<T> where T is the object type in it's singular form? I know in C++ for example, inheriting from a container is considered a bad idea. But what about .NET.

  • How Do Sockets Work in C?

    I am a bit confused about socket programming in C. You create a socket, bind it to an interface and an IP address and get it to listen. I found a couple of web resources on that, and understood it fine. In particular, I found an article Network programming under Unix systems to be very informative. What confuses me is the timing of data arriving on the socket. How can you tell when packets arrive, and how big the packet is, do you have to do all the heavy lifting yourself? My basic assumption here is that packets can be of variable length, so once binary data starts appearing down the socket, how do you begin to construct packets from that?

    Recently, I was going around looking for ideas on what I can build using C this summer and I came across this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1257376/interesting-project-to-learn-c Implement a programming language. This doesn't have to be terribly hard - I did the language that must not be named - but it will force you to learn a lot of the important parts of C. If you don't want to write a lexer and/or parser yourself, you can use lex/flex and yacc/bison, but if you plan on that you might want to start with a somewhat smaller project. I was kinda intrigued about the implementing a programming language answer and I'm wondering how do I go about starting this? I've gone through the whole K&R book and I've done some of the exercises as well. I also have a bit of experience in C++ and Java if that matters. Any tips? Thanks!

  • Java Null Pointer Exception :-(

    I've got a Null Pointer Exception in my main that just won't go away and I'm totally out of ideas. The error is on the line "Board[x][y].color = 2;" in which Board is a public, static array of piece objects that contain instance variables like the one "color" that is being set to 2 in the above statement. Pieces is not static - that is there are many different copies of pieces, each with its own data, but only one board. The array has been initialized and defined as both public Piece[][] Board = new Piece[8][8] and public static Piece[][] Board = new Piece[8][8], but no matter how I mess around with it (getting rid of static, putting the variable in another object, etc.), I can't seem to get the error to go away. Help?

    Hi folks, I struggled asking that question but here it is. I am using source control since several years for multiple projects using different systems (svn, hg, git) and I learned how to improve my messages by following guidelines etc. But as far as I can remember I never ever had a look at them afterwards. So ... how do you profit from your own commit messages? When I need to go back because I smashed something and need a fresh start, I usually just go back to the latest "node" (where I started or merged a branch). Do I write those messages just for people monitoring the project who are curious what is going on? Regards

  • OpenGL game written in C with a Cocoa front-end I want to port to Windows

    Hello, I'm wondering if someone could offer me some tips on how to go about this. I have a MacOS X OpenGL game that is written in very portable C with the exception of the non-game-play GUI. So in Cocoa I set up the window and OpenGL context, manage preferences, registration, listen for keystrokes etc. But all of the drawing and processing of input is handled in nice portable C. So I want to port to Windows. I figured the obvious way to go about was to use the Win32 api. Then I started to read a primer on Win32 and began to wonder if maybe life isn't too short. Can I do this in C# (without converting the backend to C#)? I'd rather devote the time to learning C# than Win32. Any suggestions would be most welcome. I really don't know a lick about Windows. The last version I regularly used was 3.1...

    Within an Access 2007 application, I'm creating a static report in .pdf format. I want to create it, then export the static report (not the data itself) to a Sharepoint Document Library. The intent is for it to be a public repository, no versioning. Each report will carry a unique name. I'm a seasoned vba programmer, but using Sharepoint services is new to me. How do I go about doing this? Assume I can identify the file name and location after I've generated it, and I know the Sharepoint library URL, and have permissions. Where do I go from there?

  • How to declare a pointer to a variable as a parameter of a function in C++?

    I have a function that takes a pointer to a D3DXVECTOR3, but I have no reason to declare this beforehand. The most logical solution to me was using new: Function( //other parameters, new D3DXVECTOR3(x, y, 0)); but I don't know how I would go about deleting it, beign intitialized in a function. My next thought was to use the & operator, like so: Function( //other parameters, &D3DVECTOR3(x, y, 0)); but I don't know if this is a valid way to go about doing this. (It doesn't get an error, but neither does int *x; x = 50;). So should I use new, &, or some other technique I'm overlooking?

  • How to add a dynamically resolved activity name to the back stack (without using PARENT_ACTIVITY)?

    The goal is 1) Start activity A from AppWidgetProvider or any other background task (it is simple). 2) From activity A go to activity B after clicking Back button. The problem is that I can't set PARENT_ACTIVITY in AndroidManifest.xml, because the activity B class name gets determined at run time. So in one case I need to go to activity B, in other case it is another activity. Seems like I can't use TaskStackBuilder without PARENT_ACTIVITY. I could handle this in the finish() method of activity A, but it should be a simpler way to add activity B to the "back stack" when I run startActivity(intent). Any ideas?

  • How to redirect on apache after running a script through cgi

    I have an ubuntu machine which I have installed apache on. I want to use a web page to run some simple shell script through cgi and then go back to my home screen. I also want to the go-back step to be automatic. I have set a redirect in my apache.conf which works fine but the script doesn't run at all. Is there a way to run the script and only then apply the redirect? Comment: I think this may be the answer but I'm not sure.
