• Spring webflow 1.0 - Downloading a file

  I am using spring webflow 1.0. I am uploading a csv file, parsing it, and displying results before proceeding. The user has an option to download a csv file that contains the records that did not pass validation. When I click the link in a JSP to download this file, webflow invokes a form Action. The form action writes out a file via getting the output stream off the response: HttpServletResponse response = ((ServletExternalContext) context.getExternalContext()).getResponse(); I do not want to leave the jsp I'm currently on. I just want to download the file. In other words, I do not want to transition to another state. I just want to serve the dynamically rendered file. • Static Access To Multiple Instance Variable

  I have a singleton instance that is referenced throughout the project which works like a charm. It saves me the trouble from having to pass around an instance of the object to every little class in the project. However, now I need to manage multiple instances of the previous setup, which means that the singleton pattern breaks since each instance would need it's own singleton instance. What options are there to still maintain static access to the singleton? To be more specific, we have our game engine and several components and plugins reference the engine through a static property. Now our server needs to host multiple game instances each having their own engine, which means that on the server side the singleton pattern breaks. I'm trying to avoid all the classes having the engine in the constructor.

  I copied the packageTmp over to the inetpub/wwwroot, then added a website and included it as my path installed the crystal report runtime,CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_4 but still did not work i also have crystalreportviewers13 folder in wwwroot/aspnet _client/systemweb/4_0_30319 this is the error I encountered when I go to the page with crystal report may i know where the path is defined? • How do I design a Wizard-based system with SoC in mind?

  I'm building a Windows Forms system (in C# if it matters to anyone) that provides an application automation service. As this application is targeted at users who are not computer savvy, I've decided to break up the functions of the application into various tasks, and provide these tasks via a wizard UI. I'd like to avoid coupling the views and view engine (from which the Wizard will be built) to the automation engine. The problem I'm having is that the automation engine, which runs on a separate thread while it does its thing, needs to report status information back to the user, as well as listen for cancel or pause events from the user. Since I don't want the view engine or the automation engine to rely on each other, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to provide for this information conduit. Any insights into this issue I'm having would be greatly appreciated. I've been wracking my brain for a couple weeks now on this point, and I really don't want to give up and just couple everything together. If anyone needs additional details to help come up with some sort of idea please let me know and I'll be happy to provide them.

• Grasp Controller, Does it really need a UI to exist?

  I have a Domain model which can be in multiple states, and if these states go out of a given range it the domain should automatically react. For example I have a Car which is made of multiple things which have measurements the Engine - Rev counter and Temperature the Fuel Tank - capacity Is is plaseable to have a CarStateController, which observses the engine and the tank, and if these states go out of range IE the engine temperature goes above range, turn the engine fan on?? There is no UI, (you could argue it would show a light on the dash board, but for this case it does not) is this a valid use of a GRASP controller pattern? if not what is this CarStateController Called? Or have I completely missed the point and this should be the State Pattern?

  I am trying to run Protovis javascript from a Java program using javax.script: ScriptEngineManager factory = new ScriptEngineManager(); ScriptEngine engine = factory.getEngineByName("JavaScript"); engine.eval(new java.io.FileReader("protovis-d3.1.js")); In order to run this, the JavaScript engine needs to have all the context of a web browser. The best option for this seems to be envjs. Unfortunately it seems that the version of Rhino included in the JVM isn't up to date and doesn't include everything that's necessary for envjs. Has anyone had any success working with a browser context from javax.script, or am I missing something? • Implementing Qt File Dialog with a Different File System Library (boost)

  Hi, I am writing an application which requires me to use another file system and file engine handlers and not the qt's default ones. Basically what I want to be able to do is to use qt's file dialog but have an underlying file system handler (for example built using boost file system library) of mine handling all the operations with regards to file and directory operations within that dialog. I have already written a custom file engine which handles some of the operations but I am now stuck with Qt's file system model and the file system watcher engine, as I need to have the signals transmitted for this custom file engine. Seems like I have a daunting task ahead. Am I heading in the right direction? Is there any other simpler way that I could implement this? Can anyone give me any idea on how to proceed. I was thinking of looking into proxy models but not sure if that would work. Thanks in advance for any help.

  I am currently working on a game "engine" that needs to move values between a 3D engine, a physics engine and a scripting language. Since I need to apply vectors from the physics engine to 3D objects very often and want to be able to control both the 3D, as well as the physics objects through the scripting system, I need a mechanism to convert a vector of one type (e.g. vector3d<float>) to a vector of the other type (e.g. btVector3). Unfortunately I can make no assumptions on how the classes/structs are laid out, so a simple reinterpret_cast probably won't do. So the question is: Is there some sort of 'static'/non-member casting method to achieve basically this: vector3d<float> operator vector3d<float>(btVector3 vector) { // convert and return } btVector3 operator btVector3(vector3d<float> vector) { // convert and return } Right now this won't compile since casting operators need to be member methods. (error C2801: 'operator foo' must be a non-static member)

For the aim of building of black box testing, both client and exchange engine will be given some predefined testcases to send and receive to the server. I design the client engine with multithread processing to manipulate many testcases. Actually it is able to run succesfully. For exchange engine, I wonder that multi thread is applicable in the context that the exchange engine just need to publish a message when it received msg from subscribed topic on server. • Why does SQLAlchemy with psycopg2 use_native_unicode have poor performance?

  I'm having a difficult time figuring out why a simple SELECT query is taking such a long time with sqlalchemy using raw SQL (I'm getting 14600 rows/sec, but when running the same query through psycopg2 without sqlalchemy, I'm getting 38421 rows/sec). After some poking around, I realized that toggling sqlalchemy's use_native_unicode parameter in the create_engine call actually makes a huge difference. This query takes 0.5secs to retrieve 7300 rows: from sqlalchemy import create_engine engine = create_engine("postgresql+psycopg2://localhost...", use_native_unicode=True) r = engine.execute("SELECT * FROM logtable") fetched_results = r.fetchall() This query takes 0.19secs to retrieve the same 7300 rows: engine = create_engine("postgresql+psycopg2://localhost...", use_native_unicode=False) r = engine.execute("SELECT * FROM logtable") fetched_results = r.fetchall() The only difference between the 2 queries is use_native_unicode. But sqlalchemy's own docs state that it is better to keep use_native_unicode=True (http://docs.sqlalchemy.org/en/latest/dialects/postgresql.html). Does anyone know why use_native_unicode is making such a big performance difference? And what are the ramifications of turning off use_native_unicode?

• How do I effectively store a connection string in machine.config only?

  We are moving to an environment with multiple engines of MS SQL running on the same server (a test engine and a production engine). We also have separate test and production web servers, and would like for our asp.net applications to "magically" use the test database engine on the test web server and the production database engine on the production web servers. We would like to store the connection strings in machine.config rather than in web.config, but when we put it in machine.config, visual studio's IDE (particularly with datasets) does not recognize that the machine.config contains the connection. Does anyone know of a solution for displaying these machine.config connection strings in visual studio, or of a different solution that would accommodate for this? Thanks.

  Hey, I am hitting trouble constructing an XmlSerializer where the extra types contains types with the same Name (but unique Fullname). Below is an example that illustrated my scenario. Use XML attributes to specify a unique XML name and/or namespace for the type." Given that I am unable to alter the enum types, how can I construct an XmlSerializer that will serialize Car successfully?

  I have two classes, both of which need to be able to call the same instance of entitymanager class Engine { EntityManager::Entitymanager EManager; } And I need to add an object to a vector contained by this particular instance of Engine. • Is it acceptable to design my GLSurfaceView as a main control class?

  I'm trying to structure a game I'm making in Android so that I have a sound, flexible design. Right now I'm looking at where I can tie my games rules engine and graphics engine together and what should be in between them. At a glance, I've been eying my implementation of GLSurfaceView, where various screen events are captured. My rationale would be to create an instance of my game engine and graphics engine here and receive events and state changes to trigger updates of either where applicable. Further to this, in the future, the GLSurfaceView implementation could also store stubs for players during a network game and implementations of computer opponents and dispatch them appropriately. Does this seem like a sensible design? Are there any kinds of improvements I can make? Thanks for any input!
