    Here are things installed: $ sudo apt-get install postgresql-server-dev-8.4 libpq5 libpq-dev Here is a past to my config.out: http://pastebin.com/8Nk6pr96 And, here are some hints I got from IRC (names concealed) < foo> it's NOT failing to find libpq. < foo> libpq is present, but not compilable without adding a boatload of other -l flags < foo> and postgis' configure doesn't let you specify that via LIBS < foo> his paste contains the config.out, which shows this The configure dies with this, configure: error: could not find libpq I intend to install postgis for mapfish :)

  • Cannot ping ubuntu server by hostname - can only ping by IP

    I have an unbuntu 9.10 server and have set the hostname to "fileserver" When I try to ping fileserver from a client machine it doesn't find it, however I can ping by the IP my router assigns it. I have tried changing the ip in /etc/hosts from this: 127.0.0.1 fileserver to this: 192.168.1.109 fileserver which is the ip being assigned. I had a previous install of this server and i had no issues with this - only difference in this install is i did not select any of the options such as LAMP, OpenSSH, etc during the install process. I can access the machine fine by ip using PuTTY. Any ideas?

My python script http://buffis.com/2007/07/25/getting-info_hash-for-xbt-tracker/comment-page-1/ I am using this command /var/www/hash_info.py /var/www/Muha_Album.7912.torrent I have copied dependency file bencode.py mentioned in article link above. When I execute the above command I get error No such file or directory but when i chmod the file to 644 it says Permission denied the file is present at the location. I have installed pythong using this command apt-get install python-gtk2 python-glade2 Thank You.

  • Amarok on Ubuntu 9.10 rapidly skipping tracks

    Hello all. Subject really says it all. When I try to click on any track, Amarok rapidly moves through the playlist, pulling external information (wikipedia etc) for each song, but not playing it. I feel like it might be a problem with my sound card or driver or something, but all other media players work fine. I can play sounds from within Amarok when I test different sound devices (they all play). I removed the program and re-installed it and still no luck. Any ideas?

    Problem Am looking to automatically move the mouse cursor and simulate mouse button clicks from the command-line using an external script. Am not looking to: Record mouse movement and playback (e.g., xnee, xmacro) Instantly move the mouse from one location to another (e.g., xdotool, Python's warp_pointer) Ideal Solution What I'd like to do is the following: Edit a simple script file (e.g., mouse-script.txt). Add a list of coordinates, movement speeds, delays, and button clicks. For example: (x, y, rate) = (500, 500, 50) sleep = 5 click = left Run the script: xsim < mouse-script.txt. Question How do you automate mouse movement so that it transitions from its current location to another spot on the screen, at a specific velocity? For example: xdotool mousemove 500 500 --rate 50 The --rate 50 doesn't exist with xdotool. I could write a script that uses xdotool to get the current mouse coordinates then move it a pixel at a time to the destination with a suitable sleep interval; what automated testing tool already does this? Is this a longstanding and known inconsistency or bug or is it that hardly anybody ever looks inside a lengthy tar log long enough to notice? Edit (additional information): tar from within "mydir" with a wildcard will not "see" nor archive hidden files and hidden subdirectories in the immediate directory, with emphasis on "immediate". However, in subdirectories of "mydir" (obviously non-hidden) hidden files and hidden subdirectories will be archived.

    Hi, I have done something quite silly and not sure how to fix it. I modified some of the gnome keyboard short cuts and was trying to disable the "Run Application" command. In the process I assigned it to the delete key and every time I hit delete the "Run Application" window comes up. It would not normally be a problem but the "Keyboard Shortcuts" no long has the short cut in the window so I can't disable it. Any help advice would be appreciated. Cheers Ben

  • Need help getting Suspend to work in Ubuntu on laptop

    I've been doing a lot of research, but I've got to admit right out front that I'm not even sure exactly what is the right question. I've installed Kubuntu 10.4 on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-29. When I try to uses "suspend", the screen flickers, and then the hard drive light goes off but the power light stays on. I looked at the /var/log/pm-suspend.log, but I don't seen any errors... though I'm not sure what success should look like either. So I guess my real question is a bit more accurately stated as "How do I troubleshoot suspend not working in Kubuntu on a laptop?" Thanks, Aerik

    Hi, I know theres hundred of questions and answers out there, but cant find one to specifically answer this. I need a web editor that will let me choose a dark themed editor. I understand gvim is one, but im not totally ready to let go of my mouse. I would like something like sublime text editor for windows, but open to other suggestions. The less bloat the best. I dont need a full IDE like eclipse, but willing to compromise, as long as the themes can easily be added. I've tried bluefish, kompozer and not happy with them. Just need a basic text editor that will highlight php syntax on a dark background.

    I've been (unsuccessfully) trying to install the "pg" gem on my ruby 1.9.3-p286 but nothing seems to work. I've already installed postgresql (9.1), libpq-dev and a few others like postgresql-server-dev-9.1. I've tried to pass the "with-pg-config" flag to the gem install but simply nothing seems to work.   • installing glassfish on ubuntu karmic using synaptics package manager

    I'm trying to learn to use glassfish for the first time. My IDE is netbeans and I've installed the glassfish plugin for netbeans. I opened up synaptics package manager and typed in glassfish. My choices were imqv2 glassfish-activaton glassfish-mail glassfish-appserv glassfish-toplink-essentials glassfish-jmac-api glassfish-javaee I'm not sure what is in each package, or which package are needed. I can't seem to find anything that tells me anything descriptive about these packages. I've seen a lot of tutorials on how to install glassfish, but I'd prefer to use apt-get / synaptics to install glassfish so that syntactics can take care of updating.
