• iPad: CoreData FetchedRequest Ignores Changes in Predicate

  Hi there, While programming an iPad-app, I'm just running into trouble using a fetchedResultsController with a "dynamic" predicate. it seems the changes to the predicate get ignored. • Convert Date to Datetime field.

  The argument my C# function is getting is a string which is merely a Date or a DateTime. I am suppose to convert this String to DateTime, to carry on furthure calculation. Now I need to test whether the incoming data is a Date, if it is date(examle:"12/31/2009"), then I need to add "00:00:00" (24 hours format) to it, so that it will become "12/31/2009 00:00:00". If string manipulation is one possible way, I want to confirm whether there is some other way where we can automate the testing and conversion within DateTime.TryParseExact() method. When i update/modify the record, dateModified and dateCreated remains as is? What should i do? Obviously, i need to dateCreated value to remain as was inserted the first time and dateModified keeps changing when a change/modification occurs in the record fields. In other words, can you please write a sample quick trigger? I don't know much yet... Any help will be appreciated.

  I thought that the query below would naturally do what I explain, but apparently not... My table looks like this: id | name | g | partner | g2 1 | John | M | Sam | M 2 | Devon | M | Mike | M 3 | Kurt | M | Susan | F 4 | Stacy | F | Bob | M 5 | Rosa | F | Rita | F I'm trying to get the id where either the g or g2 value equals 'M'... But, a record where both the g and g2 values are 'M' should return two lines, not 1. I would like to remove all the prices namely: SGD$45.32 Price: SGD$45.32 SGD$45 I have this expression thats supposed to match the 3 groups: $pattern = '/(Price.+\sSGD\$\d+\.\d{2})(SGD\$\d+\.\d{2})(SGD\$\d+)/'; $new_snippet = preg_replace($pattern, '', $snippet);` But apparently its not working. It works if I replace a single group at a time. But, I'd like to know if it possible to replace all possible matching groups with a single statement. Tried preg_match_all($pattern, $snippet, $matches); to show matches based on the above pattern, but no matches are found if I put all 3 groups together.

  How do I handle big integers in C#? I have a function that will give me the product of divisors: private static int GetDivisorProduct(int N, int product) { for (int i = 1; i < N; i++) { if (N % i == 0) { Console.WriteLine(i.ToString()); product *= i; } } return product; } The calling function is GetDivisorProduct(N, 1) If the result is bigger than 4 digits , I should obtain only the last 4 digits. ( E.g. If I give an input of 957, the output is 7493 after trimming out only the last four values. The actual result is 876467493.). Other sample inputs: If I give 10000, the output is 0. The BigInteger class has been removed from the C# library! How can I get the last four digits?

It should report the number of rows with the same values for (green.h.0, green.v.0, and offset.0) by only looking at the previous rows. The example above uses the expected values, but assume they are incorrect. How can I add a new column (say "count") which will count all previous rows which have the same values of the specified variables? I have gotten help on a similar problem of just selecting all rows with the same values for specified columns, so I supposed I could just write a loop around that, but it seems inefficient to me.

The final step is actually installing Wordpress, which usually involves pointing your browser to install.php and filling out a form in the GUI.   I have two tables that I need to join... I want to join table1 and table2 on 'id' - however in table two id is not unique. I only want one value returned for table two, and this value represents the sum of a column called 'total_sold' - within a specified date range (say one month).. SELECT ta.id, tb.total_sold as total_sold_this_week FROM table_a as ta LEFT JOIN table_b as tb ON ta.id=tb.id AND tb.date_sold BETWEEN ADDDATE(NOW(),INTERVAL -3 WEEK) AND NOW() this works but does not SUM the rows - only returning one row for each id... how do I get the sum from table b instead of only one row??? Please criticise if format of question could use more work - I can rewrite and provide sample data if required - this is a trivialised version of a much larger problem. -Thanks

• addEventListener gone after appending innerHTML

  Okay, so i have the following html added to a site using javascript/greasemonkey. (just sample) *a id='abc'*HEllo*/a* *a id='xyz'*Hello*/a* (excuse me, i've had to replace the '<' '' with * since hyperlinks for new users aren't allowed!) and i've also added a click event listener for the elements. All works fine up to this point, the click event gets fired when i click the element. But... i have another function in the script, which upon a certain condition, modifies that html, ie it appends it, so it looks like: *a id='abc'*HEllo*/a* *a id='xyz'*Hello*/a* *a id='123'*Hello*/a* but when this is done, it breaks the listeners i added for the first two elements... nothing happens when i click them. if i comment out the call to the function which does the appending, it all starts working again! help please...

• Ramifications of CheckForIllegalCrossThreadCalls=false

  I recently updated an application from VS2003 to VS2008 and I knew I would be dealing with a host of "Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'myControl' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on" I am handling this in what I beleive is the correct way (see code sample below). I am running into numerous controls that are going to need a similar fix. Not wanting to have similar code for every label, textbox etc.. that are being accessed by a non UI thread. What are the ramifications of just setting the CheckForIllegalCrossThreadCalls = false for the entire app? I found a CodeProject article with various workarounds and a warning at the bottom to NOT set the property. • free public databases with non-trivial table structures?

  I'm looking for some sample database data that I can use for testing and demonstrating a DB tool I am working on. I need a DB that has (preferably) many tables, and many foreign key relationships between the tables. Ideally the data would be in SQL dump format, or at least in something that maintains the foreign key references, and could be easily import into an RDBMS (MySQL or H2). The dataset itself doesn't have to be huge (in fact, best if it's not). I thought about using the Stackoverflow Data Dump, but it's only about 5 tables.

• Local variable assign versus direct assign; properties and memory.

  In objective-c I see a lot of sample code where the author assigns a local variable, assigns it to a property, then releases the local variable. Is there a practical reason for doing this? I've been just assigning directly to the property for the most part. Would that cause a memory leak in any way? I guess I'd like to know if there's any difference between this: HomeScreenBtns *localHomeScreenBtns = [[HomeScreenBtns alloc] init]; self.homeScreenBtns = localHomeScreenBtns; [localHomeScreenBtns release]; and this: self.homeScreenBtns = [[HomeScreenBtns alloc] init]; Assuming that homeScreenBtns is a property like so: @property (nonatomic, retain) HomeScreenBtns *homeScreenBtns; I'm getting ready to submit my application to the app store so I'm in full optimize/QA mode.

• Emailing HTML from within an iPhone app is stopping at special characters

  Hi, I have an iPhone app that will let users email some pre-determined text as HTML. I'm having a problem in that if the text contains special characters within the text (e.g., ampersand &, , <), the NSString variable that I use for sending the body of the email gets truncated at the special character. I'm not sure how to fix this (I tried using the method stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding…but this hasn't fixed the problems). Thoughts on what I'm doing wrong / how to fix it? • WiX: Extracting Binary-string in Custom Action yields string like "???good data"

  I just found a weird behaviour when attempting to extract a string from the Binary-table in the MSI. I have a file containing "Hello world", the data I get is "???Hello world". (Literary question mark.) Is this as intended? Will it always be exactly 3 characters in the beginning?
