• How do I get NHibernate to work with .NET Framework 2.0?

  I can not make NHibernate 2.1 work in machines without framework 3.X (basically, windows 2000 SP4, although it happens with XP too). NHibernate doc do not mention this. Maybe you can help? I NEED to make NHibernate 2.1 work in Windows 2000 PCs, do you think this can be done? PD: DataBase is SQL 2000/2005. I've written a custom membership provider but I still don't really see what's "membership" about it if I'm using a custom user table and custom roles table. So what is forms? And what is membership?

• Sqlite issues with HTC Desire HD

  Recently I have been getting a lot of complaints about the HTC Desire series and it failing while invoking sql statements. I have received reports from users with log snapshots that contain the following. I/Database( 2348): sqlite returned: error code = 8, msg = statement aborts at 1: [pragma journal_mode = WAL;] E/Database( 2348): sqlite3_exec to set journal_mode of /data/data/my.app.package/files/localized_db_en_uk-1.sqlite to WAL failed followed by my app basically burning in flames because the call to open the database results in a serious runtime error that manifests itself as the cursor being left open. There shouldn't be a cursor at this point as we are trying to open it. This only occurs with the HTC Desire HD and Z. My code basically does the following (changed a little to isolate the problem area). • Looking for an algorithm in vb.net or c# but I don't know it's name!

  I'll do my best to explain what the algorithm is supposed to do: There's a class 'Recipe'. Each Recipe can include other Recipes but cannot include itself or any other Recipe that includes it. So, a simple example is we have just two Recipes A & B. If A adds B first, then later on B cannot add A because it will cause a loop. A more complicated example is: A,B,C (1) Recipe C Adds B (2) Recipe B Adds A (3) Recipe A attempts to add C, but can't because of the relationship. C - B - A. I can do this myself, I just wondered if this was a standard named algorithm and I could grab the optimal solution. Thanks

  With a customer web site we currently experiences performance problems. While analyzing the problem we found an unexpected amount of of 112 "Memory Hard Faults" per minute. Does anybody can interpret the meaning of this value? Does this happen, when memory swapping is necessary - so the root cause is not sufficient memory? Even if the CPU value seems high, it is not the main problem for the slow web site. Do you agree?

• How to add a service to the type descriptor context of a property grid in .Net?

  I have an app that allows the user to choose an image, at design time, either as a straight image, or from an image list. All cool so far, except that this is not happening from the visual studio property browser, its happening from a property grid that is a part of a type editor. My problem is, both the image picker (actually resource picker), and the imagelist type converter rely on some design-time services to get the job done. In the case of imagelist, its the IReferenceService and in the case of the resource picker its a service called _DTE. In the first instance of an edit from the visual studio property browser, I could get a reference to these services but (1) how can I add them to the type descriptor context of my property grid? It would be better, for future proofing, if I could just copy a reference to all of the services in the type descriptor context. (2) Where does the property browser get these services from in the first place? ETA: I still don't know how to do it, but I now know it is possible. (1) Sub-class control and add a property whose type is an array of buttons. (2) Add it to a form. (3) Select the new control on the design service and edit the new property in the property browser. (4) The collection editor dialog pops-up (5) Add a button (6) Edit image and image list - the type editor and type converter, respectively, behave as they should.

• How can I provide links to intranet files through ASP.net?

  Conditions: The files must be opened outside of the window that the link to them is in. I have tried href, but when I give it an intranet link it only opens correctly if I leave out target="_blank"; if I put that in, the new window that opens doesn't receive the full link if there is a pound sign in the filepath... a direct link to the intranet address \a\b\c#c.txt would be fine with me; there is no concern about security, but I can't seem to get that to happen in a new window. It seems like this is happening when I don't create a new window, but I can't utilize the same window to open the links. Any ideas?

  Here are the problems I am having with the control from the factory: no easy way to get the first visible date (yeah I could use day render, but at that point in the page cycle, I can't do what I need to, which is manipulate a collection in viewstate) changing the visibledate property in my code does not raise the visiblemonthchanged event.   Hi All, I have a datagrid where each row has information on Employees in a company. I would like to allow each row the ability to show/hide extra information. The extra information panel has a lot of textboxes/labels, all of which gets its values from the database. Everytime the page loads all the data is got from the database at the start, some of it is hidden. Is there a better way to achieve my goal? Or is there a way to only load an employees extra details when the Show/Hide button is click? Thanks in advance!

  I've created a custom clipboard because it's not possible to make my whole class map serializable - which is a requirement for the windows clipboard. However, I need to distinguish between users who are using my clipboard through a unique id. Basically, I want to be able identify a person who is sat at one PC with one or more copies of visual studio (or similar) open. How do I do that? ps: This is at design-time. pps: It's not critical that it should work between copies of visual studio. One copy would be fine, or even one design surface.
