  • Rails Authlogic Prevent User from Changing their Login/Username

    Hello, I have implemented Authlogic. I believe that this isn't an authlogic specific quesetion. Assume that I have a User model and each User has a column in the database called "login". Upon creating a user, the login column is populated. However, I don't want the user to be able to change their login once they set it. Currently, I have removed the text field in the _form.html.erb file in my views for users. However, it can probably still be accessed through the url right? How can I make it so that once a login is set, it can not be changed at all?

    Hi, If you have created a branch and are working with the files in that branch, when you 'update' it, is it updating/merging the code in the branch with the code in the trunk? Also, when you have commited your changes to the branch, how do you update the trunk with your changes? (since you commit the changes and have to switch to the trunk again?)     Imagine the following situation: A virus infected file was commited into a Subversion repository. A Anti Virus scanner runs on the server and also scans the Subversion repository. The Anti Virus scanner will delete the affected revision or move it to quarantine. The consequence is a broken repository. If the revision file is recoverable (from quarantine), how to solve this problem? I have some goals to achieve: The AV is not allowed to be disabled or excluded from the directories. The virus infected file must not be stored in the repository The repository must be consistens and usable. What is the nicest solution for this little problem?

  • Recognizing the source of Facebook application user

    Hello, When serving an iframe application in Facebook, is there anyway I can know when a user visits my site through Facebook as an application or if he reached the site directly (typed my domain URL in the browser)? I know I can check if the user has a cookie (named "u") which tells me that the user used facebook to get an access_token. However, if the user visited the application one minute ago and got the access_token cookie, but then typed the URL in the browser, checking for the existence of the cookie will return TRUE, although the visitor arrived to the site directly.   • How do I fix JavaHL (JNI) Not available after I have changed the logon password on my Mac?

    I have installed Eclipse 3.5.2 and the plugin Subversion JavaHL Native Library Adapter 1.6.9.2 and this worked without any problems. However, this morning I was forced to change the password to logon to my Mac and since then I get the message that "Subversion native library not available" when I try to save any changes. Can anyone help? I have tried to add this line (-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni) to the eclipse.ini file but this didn´t seem to make any difference. Can anyone help?

  • Has subversion lost some of my revisions in a branch?

    I've been working on my project using a subversion branch. I've used the branching feature few times before without issue, until today. I've come to merge back into the trunk, and noticed that not everything from my branch was there. I go back to my project folder which I've been committing to the branch and look at the log messages using TortoiseSVN (the command line basic log command shows the same). See the attached image. The revision numbers go up incrementally, until revision 303 (the last trunk revision was 299). Then there are numbers missing. The latest commit, about half an hour ago was 316, but it doesn't show up in the log for the branch. Trying to commit the files again doesn't do anything. I am the only person committing to this repository at present. The missing revisions do not show up in the log for the trunk project. What's going on here. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Update - the revisions do show in the repo browser (Thanks Antonio Perez), but I don't understand why they are not being included with the merge?

    http://maven.apache.org/settings.html As per documentation the user specific settings can be either copied to the .m2 folder or under the maven installation. If a developer changes a machine or gets a new user id, such properties have to be copied manually to these newer machines. Would it be possible to store user specific setting information in the repository itself (say SVN) and somehow have the mvn scripts load it on startup.

  • Sanitizing User Input with Ruby on Rails

    I'm writing a very simple CRUD app that takes user stories and stores them into a database so another fellow coder can organize them for a project we're both working on. However, I have come across a problem with sanitizing user input before it is saved into the database. I cannot call the sanitize() function from within the Story model to strip out all of the html/scripting. It requires me to do the following: def sanitize_inputs self.name = ActionController::Base.helpers.sanitize(self.name) unless self.name.nil? self.story = ActionController::Base.helpers.sanitize(self.story) unless self.story.nil? end I want to validate that the user input has been sanitized and I am unsure of two things: 1) When should the user input validation take place? Before the data is saved is pretty obvious, I think, however, should I be processing this stuff in the Controller, before validation, or some other non-obvious area before I validate that the user input has no scripting/html tags? 2) Writing a unit test for this model, how would I verify that the scripting/html is removed besides comparing "This is a malicious code example" to the sanitize(example) output?     I need a way to tell if the app being used by a user is a fresh new install (new user), or was a pre-existing user who updated. The previous app version did not track UDID's, and didn't save anything (it just ran as a simple app). Is there a way for an update to tell if the user previously installed the app? Even if that app didn't save anything into the documents folder, and the app didnt communicate with a server (UDID post)? (id like to be able to offer bonus features to my existing loyal users who had already installed the original app and updated) thanks!!

  • Ruby on Rails login using legacy user database

    Hello, I have a Rails application that connects to a legacy database (Oracle) and displays some information from a particular user. Right now the user is passed as a URL parameter, but this has obvious security issues because users should only be able to see their own data. To solve that, I want to implement a user login, and I did some research and came across 2 components for that, restful_authentication and authlogic. The problem is that I need to use an existing user/password database instead of creating a new one, which is the common way to use those components. The password is encrypted by a custom Oracle package, but let's assume it is stored as plain text to make things simpler. I only need very basic functionality, which is login a user and keep them logged in forever until logout. No changes to the database will be made by this application, so there's no need for sign up, e-mail activation, reset password, etc. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to do that? Is any of those 2 components a good solution? If not, what would be recommended? Thanks!

    After installing and using Visual Studio 2010, I'm seeing some newer file types (at least with C++ projects ... don't know about the other types) as compared to 2008. e.g. .sdf, .opensdf, which I guess are the replacement for ncb files with Intellisense info stored in SQL Server Compact files? I also notice .log files are generated, which appear to be build logs. Given this, what's safe to add to my global ignore pattern? Off the bat, I'd assume .sdf, .opensdf, but what else?

    Is there a way to do the following. We need to have a few basic cck types that will allow users to track their chosen parameters over a length of time. For example, one cck type may be called "numeric tracker" It would have a field for labeling the type and a field for entering a number. User A might label one numeric tracker "miles driven". Then each day user A would use this type to enter a number. User B might label a numeric tracker "hours slept". Each day user B would enter a number. Is there a way to use cck in this way?

  • TeamCity build triggers don't automatically run

    I've been playing around with and learning a bit about TeamCity and have the server correctly set up with my .Net MVC project committed in Subversion successfully and build configurations and triggers sorted to kick off when any changes are committed to the repository. TeamCity polls on its default time period and is picking up that changes have been committed, but it is adding these to the queue without actually ever running them. I have to manually click the "Run" button to kick them off. What setting do I need to change in order to ensure that any new changes are automatically run?

  • Android: Prompt user to save changes when Back button is pressed

    I have an activity that contains several user editable items (an EditText field, RatingBar, etc). I'd like to prompt the user if the back/home button is pressed and changes have been made that have not yet been saved. After reading through the android documentation, it seems like this piece of code should go in the onPause method. I've tried putting an AlertDialog in the onPause however the dialog gets shown and then immediately tears down because nothing is there to block the pause from completing.
