  • Password Protect XML-RPC

    - by Terence Eden
I have a service running on a server which I want to access via XML-RPC. I've installed all the necessary bits. Within /etc/apache2/httpd.conf I have the single line SCGIMount /RPC2 127.0.0.1:5000 I can run xmlrpc commands from my server - and any server which connects to /RPC2. What I want to do is password protect the directory to stop unauthorised usage. Within /etc/apache2/httpd.conf I've added <Location /RPC2> AuthName "Private" AuthType Basic AuthBasicProvider file AuthUserFile /home/me/myhtpasswd Require user me </Location> Trying to access /RPC2 brings up the "Authorization Required" box and it accepts my username and password. However, xmlrpc now doesn't work! If I run xmlrpc localhost some_command on my server, I get the error Failed. Call failed. HTTP response code is 401, not 200. (XML-RPC fault code -504) Is there any way I can password protect my /RPC2 directory and have xmlrpc commands work?

  • DriveImage XML fails with a Windows Volume Shadow Service Error

    - by ssvarc
I'm trying to image a SATA laptop hard drive, using DriveImageXML, that is attached to my computer via a USB adapter. I'm running Win7 Ultimate 64 bit. DriveXML is returning: Could not initialize Windows Volume Shadow Service (VSS). ERROR C:\Program Files (x86)\Runtime Software\Drivelmage XML\vss64.exe failed to start. ERROR TIMEOUT Make sure VSSVC.EXE is running in your task manager. Click Help for more information. VSSVC.EXE is running in Task Manager, as is VSS64.exe. Looking at the FAQ on the Runtime webpage this turned up: Please verify in Settings-Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Services that the following services are enabled: MS Software Shadow Copy Provider Volume Shadow Copy Also make sure you are able to stop and start these services. Possible reasons for VSS failures: For VSS to work, at least one volume in your computer must be NTFS. If you use only FAT drives, VSS will not function. The required NTFS volume does not need to be identical with the volume you want to image. You should make sure that VSSVC.EXE is running in your task manager. If the problems persist, registering "oleaut.dll" and "oleaut32.dll" using "regsvr32" might help. Both of those services are running and can be started and stopped without issue. Using "regsvr32" to register ""oleaut32.dll" returns successful, but "oleaut.dll" returns: The module "oleaut.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. The specified module could not be found. Some other information that might be relevant. Browsing to the drive is successful, but accessing certain folders returns an "access" error. Windows runs a permissions adder that adds the current user profile to the NFTS permissions. Could this be the cause of the issue? DriveImage XML is running as Administrator. Thoughts?

  • Converting Audio To Video Output and Attaching Text?

    - by ZeeMan
I am currently working on a project and before i get started i thought it'd be nice to check with stackOverflow community, and see maybe they can help me with this. The Idea: I have about a thousand MP3 files that i need to convert into Video files to be upload on Youtube for my work. Here is where it gets tricky i need to also attach the Text associated with the Audio to the Video as an Image. I was thinking .ppt. The Problem: I can do this one audio file at a time but it would take me a zillion years. lol!! The Question: Can I Create Some Kind Of Program Using Let's Say XML or JavaScript Or XHTML or some other programming language to do a MASS content creation and all i have to do is feed it the Information?? possibly a script?? or is it possible to create an example .ppt file and then hack it so that i can have it reproduce itself with different information?? The Note: Thanks U In Advance For Helping Out!!! Regards, ZeeMan!!!

  • WCF Maximum message size quota exceeded problem - Guru needed

    - by Rire1979
The maximum message size quota for incoming messages (65536) has been exceeded. To increase the quota, use the MaxReceivedMessageSize property on the appropriate binding element. Let me begin by saying that I can fix the problem by increasing the size of MaxReceivedMessageSize and the appropriate buffer. However it looks to me that this solution is not ideal because it's impossible to establish an upper bound to the size of the message as data changes daily. Setting it to the maximum size of two gigs feels like the wrong approach ... It may matter... or not: I'm using the MSN ad center API v6. Can an experienced WCF professional confirm this is indeed the approach we'll have to make do with? Is it as bad as it looks? Thank you.

  • Combined SOAP/JSON/XML in WCF, using UriTemplate

    - by gregmac
I'm trying to build a generic web service interface using WCF, to allow 3rd party developers to hook into our software. After much struggling and reading (this question helped a lot), I finally got SOAP, JSON and XML (POX) working together. To simplify, here's my code (to make this example simple, I'm not using interfaces -- I did try this both ways): <ServiceContract()> _ Public Class TestService Public Sub New() End Sub <OperationContract()> _ <WebGet()> _ Public Function GetDate() As DateTime Return Now End Function '<WebGet(UriTemplate:="getdateoffset/{numDays}")> _ <OperationContract()> _ Public Function GetDateOffset(ByVal numDays As Integer) As DateTime Return Now.AddDays(numDays) End Function End Class and the web.config code: <services> <service name="TestService" behaviorConfiguration="TestServiceBehavior"> <endpoint address="soap" binding="basicHttpBinding" contract="TestService"/> <endpoint address="json" binding="webHttpBinding" behaviorConfiguration="jsonBehavior" contract="TestService"/> <endpoint address="xml" binding="webHttpBinding" behaviorConfiguration="poxBehavior" contract="TestService"/> <endpoint address="mex" contract="IMetadataExchange" binding="mexHttpBinding" /> </service> </services> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="jsonBehavior"> <enableWebScript/> </behavior> <behavior name="poxBehavior"> <webHttp /> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="TestServiceBehavior"> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true"/> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="false"/> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> This actually works -- I'm able to go to TestService.svc/xml/GetDate for xml, TestService.svc/json/GetDate for json, and point a SOAP client at TestService.svc?wsdl and have the SOAP queries work. The part I'd like to fix is the queries. I have to use TestService.svc/xml/GetDateOffset?numDays=4 instead of TestService.svc/xml/GetDateOffset/4. If I specify the UriTemplate, I get the error: Endpoints using 'UriTemplate' cannot be used with 'System.ServiceModel.Description.WebScriptEnablingBehavior'. But of course without using <enableWebScript/>, JSON doesn't work. The only other thing I've seen that I think will work is making 3 different services (.svc files), that all implement an interface that specifies the contract, but in the classes specify different WebGet/WebInvoke attributes on each class. This seems like a lot of extra work, that frankly, I don't see why the framework doesn't handle for me. The implementation of the classes would all be the same, except for the attributes, which means over time it would be easy for bugs/changes to get fixed/done in one implementation but not the others, leading to inconsistent behaviour when using the JSON vs SOAP implementation for example. Am I doing something wrong here? Am I taking a totally wrong approach and misusing WCF? Is there a better way to do this? With my experience doing web stuff, I think it should be possible for some kind of framework to handle this ... I even have an idea in my head of how to build it. It just seems like WCF is supposed to be doing this, and I don't really want to reinvent the wheel.

  • ModelBinding to and EntitySet (MVC2 & LinqToSQL)

    - by Myster
Hi all There seems to be an issue with the default model binder when binding to an EntitySet causes the EntitySet to be empty. The problem is described here and here: Microsoft's response is: ... We have now fixed this and the fix will be included in .NET Framework 4.0. With the new behavior, if the EntitySet passed into Assign is the same object as the one its being assigned to, no action will occur. With a work around being to edit the code generated like so: public override EntitySet<Thing> Things { get { return this._Things; } set { //CORRECTION: _Things= new EntitySet<Thing>(); _Things.Assign(value); //WAS: this._Things.Assign(value); } } As you can imagine this is not ideal as you have to re-add the code every time, does anyone have a better solution?

  • How to aggregate bindings in Silverlight UserControl

    - by Peter Wone
Imagine a UserControl containing some sort of ItemsControl. The UserControl as a whole has a DataContext, but you also need to expose the ItemsSource of the ItemsControl. I have tried all manner of arrangements, and eventually passed a DomainDataSource as a UserControl dependency property named DDS, and bound the ItemsControl like this: ItemsSource="{Binding DDS.Data, ElementName=userControl}" It works, but this is mucky, and with Silverlight mucky is nearly always a sign of incorrect approach. Your advice is sought. It looks like multi-bindings might be the answer to this.

  • WCF Service Error

    - by Sanjeev K B
Hi, I have a WCF service deployed on a windows 2003 server. We are using a WPF application to consume this service. The trouble is if we deploy a new version of WCF service or leave the IIS and WPF application idle for sometime and then try to execute a functionality, we are get the following exception: The content type text/html of the response message does not match the content type of the binding (text/xml; charset=utf-8). If using a custom encoder, be sure that the IsContentTypeSupported method is implemented properly. The first 119 bytes of the response were:'<HEAD><TITLE>500: Server Error [20-0004]</TITLE></HEAD> <BODY> <H1>500: Server Error [20-0004]<H1> </BODY> </HTML> Thanks and Regards,

  • Android Service onBind -> onStart

    - by Gernot
Hello, I have a comprehension question about Android Services. I have a Service that performs background http operations and a Activity that should display the current state of these http operations. So I implementet the Binder interface and so on. I can call the bindService method and onServiceConnected of my ServiceConnnection is getting called. But as far as I know, onBind doesn't calls onStartCommand() and so onStart() of the Service is never called. So how can I call the onStart() method of the service class and start my operations. Or how is the best way to start my operations in the service, when I also want a binding between the Activity and the Service.

  • WCF SSL secure transfer or large payloads without changing firewall.

    - by Sir Mix
I need to transfer small amounts of data intermittently from clients to our server in a secure fashion and pull down large binary files from the server ocassionally. It's important for all this to be reliable. I'm anticipating 100,000 clients. I control both ends, but I want to deliver a solution that doesn't require changing the firewall for the majority of customers. A lag of one or two minutes before the information migrates to the server or comes down seems to be acceptable at this time. We need to make the connection secure, so was thinking about SSL, but open to suggestions. Basically, what is the best binding to use in this situation so that we have a secure transmission and the system handles the stress and load in a way that works for 95% of clients out of the box (firewalls will not block in majority of firewall configurations).

  • WCF - calling back to client (duplex ?)

    - by MüllerDK
Hi, I have a problem with what solution to choose.. I have a server running having a Service running that can receive orders from a website. To this server several client (remote computers) are connected somehow. I would really like to use WCF for all comunication, but not sure it's possible. I dont wanna configure all client firewall settings in their routers, so the clients would have to connect to the server. But when an order is recieved on the server, it should be transferred to a specific client. One solution could be to have the Client connect using a duplex binding, but it will have to somehow keep the connection alive in order to be able to received data from server... Is this a good way to do this ?? Normally the connection times out and probably for a good reason... Anyone have insight to this problem. Thx alot for any advise :-) Best Regards Søren Müller

  • Can you update/add records in SQL using a datagridview and LINQ to SQL

    - by Jordan S
    Is it possible to bind a DataGridView to a LINQ to SQL class so that when I make changes to the records in the datagridview it automatically updates the SQL database? I have tried binding the data like this but if I make changes to the data in the datagrid view they do not actually affect the data in the database... BOMClassesDataContext DB = new BOMClassesDataContext(); var mfrs = from m in DB.Manufacturers select m; BindingSource bs = new BindingSource(); bs.DataSource = mfrs; dataGridView1.DataSource = bs;

  • WPF: "Items collection must be empty before using ItemsSource."

    - by Zack Peterson
I'm trying to get images to display in a WPF ListView styled like a WrapPanel as described in this old ATC Avalon Team article: How to Create a Custom View. When I try to populate the ListView with a LINQ-to-Entities queried collection of ADO.NET Entity Framework objects I get the following exception: Exception Items collection must be empty before using ItemsSource. My code… Visual Basic Private Sub Window1_Loaded(...) Handles MyBase.Loaded ListViewImages.ItemsSource = From g In db.Graphic _ Order By g.DateAdded Ascending _ Select g End Sub XAML <ListView Name="ListViewImages" SelectionMode="Single" ItemsSource="{Binding}"> <local:ImageView /> </ListView> I put a breakpoint on that line. ListViewImages.ItemsSource is Nothing just before the LINQ assignment.

  • WPF: Bind/Apply Filter on Boolean Property

    - by Julian Lettner
I want to apply a filter to a ListBox accordingly to the IsSelected property of a CheckBox. At the moment I have something like this. XAML <CheckBox Name="_filterCheckBox" Content="Filter list" Checked="ApplyFilterHandler"/> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding SomeItems}" /> CodeBehind public ObservableCollection<string> SomeItems { get; private set; } private void ApplyFilterHandler(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (_filterCheckBox.IsChecked.Value) CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(SomeItems).Filter += MyFilter; else CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(SomeItems).Filter -= MyFilter; } private bool MyFilter(object obj) { return ... } It works but this solution feels like the old-fashioned way (Windows Forms). Question: Is it possible to achieve this with Bindings / in XAML? Thanks for your time.

  • jQuery event handler queue

    - by resopollution
Overview of the problem In jQuery, the order in which you bind a handler is the order in which they will be executed if you are binding to the same element. For example: $('#div1').bind('click',function(){ // code runs first }); $('#div1').bind('click',function(){ // code runs second }); But what if I want the 2nd bound code to run first? . My current solution Currently, my solution is to modify the event queue: $.data(domElement, 'events')['click'].unshift({ type : 'click', guid : null, namespace : "", data : undefined, handler: function() { // code } }); . Question Is there anything potentially wrong with my solution? Can I safely use null as a value for the guid? Thanks in advance. .

  • Could not find default endpoint element

    - by edosoft
I've added a proxy to a webservice to a VS2008/.NET 3.5 solution. When constructing the client .NET throws this error: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'IMySOAPWebService' in the service model client configuaration section. This might be because no configuaration file was found for your application or because no end point element matching this contract could be found in the client element Searching for this error tells me to use the full namespace in the contract. Here's my app.config with full namespace: <client> <endpoint address="http://192.168.100.87:7001/soap/IMySOAPWebService" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="IMySOAPWebServicebinding" contract="Fusion.DataExchange.Workflows.IMySOAPWebService" name="IMySOAPWebServicePort" /> </client> I'm running XP local (I mention this because a number of Google hits mention win2k3) The app.config is copied to app.exe.config, so that is also not the problem. Any clues?

  • Bind any version of MySql.Data using the app.config

    - by Martin Kirsche
How do I bind any version or a range of versions of an assembly by using the app.config? I'm currently binding the MySql.Data assembly like this: <runtime> <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" applies-to="v2.0.50727"> <qualifyAssembly partialName="MySql.Data" fullName="MySql.Data, Version=6.2.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d, processorArchitecture=MSIL"/> </assemblyBinding> </runtime> Any version of MySql.Data other than 6.2.2.0 is not working this way. The versions of this assembly are changing fast so I either want to bind any or all versions beginning with 6.2 to my application without changing the app.config each time.

  • How do I customise date/time bindings using JAXWS and APT?

    - by Jordan Digby
Im using JAXWS 2.1.7, using some classes to run through JAXWS's 'apt' to generate the WSDL. For dates, I use @XmlSchemaType(name="time") private Date wakeupTime; and this generates a schema with xs:time, but when this all comes out in XML, the value is something like <wakeupTime>1901-01-01T01:00:00 +10</wakeupTime> I want JUST the time portion to come! I think I want to use a custom converter to say that xs:time + java.util.Date should be printed and parsed in such-and-sucha manner, but I cant see that I can pass a bindings file to the apt routine. I can't (for historical & other reasons) use XMLGregorianCalendar - it has to be a java.util.Date. How do I specify a custom binding for the apt tool in jaxb

  • MVC2 IModelBinder and parsing a string to an object - How do I do it?

    - by burnt_hand
I have an object called Time public class Time{ public int Hour {get;set;} public int Minute {get;set;} public static Time Parse(string timeString){ //reads the ToString()'s previous output and returns a Time object } override protected string ToString(){ //puts out something like 14:50 (as in 2:50PM) } } So what I want is for the automatic model binding on the Edit or Create action to set this Time instance up from a string (i.e. feed the Parse method with the string and return the result). The reason I am doing this is that I will have a DropDownList with selectable times. The value of each option will be the parser readable string. Can anyone provide an example BindModel method from the IModelBinder interface?

  • Using asp.net mvc model binders generically

    - by Sean Chambers
I have a hierarchy of classes that all derive from a base type and the base type also implements an interface. What I'm wanting to do is have one controller to handle the management of the entire hierarchy (as the actions exposed via the controller is identical). That being said, I want to have the views have the type specific fields on it and the model binder to bind against a hidden field value. something like: <input type="text" name="model.DerivedTypeSpecificField" /> <input type="hidden" name="modelType" value="MyDerivedType" /> That being said, the asp.net mvc model binders seem to require the concrete type that they will be creating, because of that reason I would need to create a different controller for every derived type. Has anyone does this before or know how to manipulate the model binder to behave in this way? I could write my own model binder, but I'm not wanting anything past the basic model binding behavior of assign properties and building arrays on the target type. Thanks!
