  • Does it make sense to have a model with only static methods?

    Hey everyone, I have an ASP.NET MVC 2 project that I'm working on and I'm wondering where I should place some of my code. I currently have a UsersModel which consists of a bunch of static methods that operate against my data context. These methods include such things as: UserExistsInDatabase, UserIsRegisteredForActivity, GetUserIdFromFacebookId etc etc. Should these methods be inside a UsersModel class or would they be more suited to a user helper class outside of the models context? Cheers for any pointers.

  • Remove buttons from a custom menu in Visual Studio 2008

    I recently installed Platform builder 7 by Microsoft. It is a plugin for VS2008. The plugin adds the following menu: I want to remove several items from this menu and I would also like to add some button from it to a toolbar. The problem is that when I do customize I only get "advanced command placeholder" shortcut for the whole bunch. Like this: How do I access the internals of these commands menu?

  • Oracle forms API - c-based compile error

    i am trying to compile a c-based forms api program on Linux x86_64 using command gcc -m32 -I"$ORACLE_HOME/forms/api" -L"$ORACLE_HOME/forms/lib" -L"$ORACLE_HOME/lib" -ld2f fapi.c it fails with a bunch of undefined references. $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libd2f.so: undefined reference to `sifom' $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libd2f.so: undefined reference to `idfrsti' $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libd2f.so: undefined reference to `simmal' etc... does anyone know the list of all the library files i need to add?

  • Move your Working Copy

    I tried to find out how to move my working copy. I know SVN move can be used to move files and folders inside your working copy but what about the working copy itself? I want to move it because I created a branch in a folder location that's different from my branch and had updated therefore all my .NET project references. So when I go to merge back to the mainline trunk I get a bunch of tree conflicts.

    Hi Al, I have a simple navigation based app which has a bunch fo forms in it, I have a method connected to a button that saves data when the button is tapped but I was wondering if I could call the same method when the back button is tapped in the navigation? I know a database is faster than loading everything into memory when the app starts, but how do I make the database either the first time the app runs or "before" the apps ever runs?

    I am running some sample tests against mysql, and finding that there are a bunch of queries which are stuck in "copying to tmp tables". They remain stuck in the same state. They are usually aggregate queries and I can kill those queries. But how can I find out what is causing them to be stuck? I am using mysql 5.1.42 with the innodb plugin.

  • How do I find out what android system icons mean?

    At one point while traveling the web, I came across a great page which contrasted the clarity and terseness of different methods of doing a sequence of operations without having to make a bunch of throwaway variables, e.g., Var1, Var2, Var3. Right now I'm implementing XML serialization so that the file can be saved. The issue is now, how do I get this data to the server?     Let's say I run an ActiveRecord query and it returns 3 results, with a bunch of attributes. I want to add 3 attributes to each record in the Array so I can do sorting at a code-level. These 3 include: num_comments, num_views, last_view. How do I add these attributes? How do I then sort the records, in order of precendence, by num_comments AND by num_views AND by last_view?

    I have a bunch of monochrome (1bpp) PNG images I want to load, and pass to pdfSharp. Using Image.FromFile loads images fine, but it alawys uses 32BPP, regardless of the pixel depth of the file. That results in very large PDF files generated. Is there a way to load images in their native pixel depth?

    I'm looking for a "SINGLE INSTALLER" solution for PHP Development. Is there anything out there which will give me a nice IDE, Web Server, Debugger, Database, etc, on a single install image (*.msi or *.exe)? This of course would be completely opposite of Eclipse PDT, which requires you to search and locate a bunch of additional components which never quite work together.
