• Hibernate bug using Oracle?

  Hello, I've got the problem, that I use a property in the persistence.xml which forces Hibernate to look only for tables in the given schema. <property name="hibernate.default_schema" value="FOO"/> Because we are using now 4 different schemas the actual solution is to generate 4 war files with a modified persistence.xml. That not very elegant. Does anybody know, how I can configure the schema with a property or by manipulation the JDBC connection string? I'm using Oracle 10g, 10_2_3 Patch. Thanks a lot.

• Smarty iteration: is there a similar function when not in a foreach loop?

  Hi, I'm trying to add a JS fly to basket plugin to the site I'm working on, but the plugin needs unique productID numbers, is there a way to iterate this in Smarty when not in a foreach loop? Something like: {$smarty.foreach.foo.iteration} Here's the code I need to itrate: <span id="slidingProd57404045"> <a href="{link controller=order action=addToCart id=$product.ID returnPath=true}" rel="nofollow" class="addToCart" title="Bestill" onclick="addToBasket(57404045); return false;" id="fly_to_basket">&nbsp;</a> </span> The 57404045 needs to be iterated.   Getting into Play 2.0, overall, blown away, great stuff. Anyway, wondering how one can achieve DRY forms in Play? If you look at the create & edit examples in the Computer Database Sample, you'll see that the form elements are repeated. With just 4 fields (in the sample form), no big deal, but when you're dealing with large, complex forms and/or handling many CRUD models, the duplication becomes a bigger maintenance issue. On the binding end ( form.bindFromRequest and form.fill(Foo) ), the implementation is so elegant for create/edit operations; is there a corresponding solution in the template layer?

  I'm a VB.Net guy. (because I have to be, because the person who signs my check says so. :P) I grew up in Java and I don't generally struggle to read or write in C# when I get the chance. I came across some syntax today that I have never seen, and that I can't seem to figure out. In the following method declaration, what does < T represent? static void Foo < T (params T[] x) I have seen used in conjunction with declaring generic collections and things, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it does for this method. • jQuery event fires on doc ready

  I am trying to set the click event of a button on my form and for some reason I am getting weird behavior. When I bind the click event to a function that takes no arguments, things seem to work fine. But when I bind the event with a function that takes an argument, the event fires on document ready and on click. Any ideas? Example 1: This causes an alert box to fire on ready and when the button is clicked. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ $('myButton').click(alert('foo')); }); Example 2: This causes an alert box to fire ONLY when the button is clicked. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ $('myButton').click(wrapper); }); // External js file function wrapper(){ alert('bar'); }

• Is there a Java equivalent for Ruby on Rails "url_for"?

  I have written something like this pretty easily in C# (string GetUrl(new { controller = "foo", action = "bar", baz = "fnord" }), based on the existing capabilities of the XmlRouteCollection class provided by the ASP.NET MVC framework (why it isn't there out of the box is beyond me; the additional required code was trivial). I am now faced with a JSP project, and I need the same ability: centralize the logic for generating all URLs in one place, based on a list of routing rules. Is there some code somewhere I could reuse/adapt to do this in Java? It seems like a common enough requirement, but google proved surprisingly unhelpful in finding something like this.

  I'm trying to make a one to one relationship in a MySQL DB. I'm using the InnoDB engine and the basic table looks like this: CREATE TABLE `foo` ( `fooID` INT(11) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY AUTO_INCREMENT, `name` TEXT NOT NULL ) CREATE TABLE `bar` ( `barName` VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL, `fooID` INT(11) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, CONSTRAINT `contact` FOREIGN KEY (`fooID`) REFERENCES `foo`(`fooID`) ) Now once I have set up these I alter the foo table so that the fooID also becomes a foreign key to the fooID in bar. The only issue I am facing with this is that there will be a integrity issue when I try to insert into either. I would like some help, thanks.

They definitely compile to different assembly code, but I'm trying to understand how the code might act differently. • Downloading HTTP URLs asynchronously in C++

  What's a good way to download HTTP URLs (e.g. such as http://0.0.0.0/foo.htm ) in C++ on Linux ? I strongly prefer something asynchronous. My program will have an event loop that repeatedly initiates multiple (very small) downloads and acts on them when they finish (either by polling or being notified somehow). I would rather not have to spawn multiple threads/processes to accomplish this. That shouldn't be necessary. Should I look into libraries like libcurl? I suppose I could implement it manually with non-blocking TCP sockets and select() calls, but that would likely be less convenient.

• BASH SHELL IF ELSE run command in background

  I have used the & command before to make a script run another script in the background like so: #!/bin/bash echo "Hello World" script1.sh & script2.sh & echo "Please wait..." But lets say I have another script with an IF ELSE statment and I would like to set an ELIF statement mid flow as a background task witht the & and then carry on with processing the rest of my script knowing that while rest of the ELIF will carry running in the back ground: #!/bin/bash if cond1; then stuff sleep 10 & stuff stuff elif cond2; then something else else echo "foo" fi stuff echo "Hello World" I really hope this makes sense any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Can any function be a deleted-function?

However, I don't see any such restriction on deleted-functions. Is that right?   In Hibernate HQL, how would you query through a many-to-many association. If I have a Company with multiple ProductLines and other companies can offer these same product lines, I have a Company entity, a ProductLine entity and an association table CompanyProductLine.   I have some legacy python scripts that manage my shell environment for all the programs and plugins I am running on Linux (bash) and windows (cmd.exe). I want to port this to powershell. How do I set environment variables in powershell by calling python script that prints $env:myVar=myvalue and causes my environment variable to persist in the powershell. In Bash I can use a bash function to call my python script which prints export var=value to stdout and the function will set the environment variables in my shell. This will also work in windows cmd shell by calling a .bat file. I cannot figure out how to do this in powershell. I think it should be something like this: setvar.ps1: function SETVAR {c:\python26\python.exe varconfig.py } varconfig.py: import sys print >> sys.stdout, '$env:myVar=foo'

• How to extract terms of specific data constructor from a list in Haskell

  A common problem I got in Haskell is to extract all terms in a list belonging to a specific data constructor and I'm wondering if there are any better ways than the way I'm doing it at the moment. Let's say you got data Foo = Bar | Goo , the list foos = [Bar, Goo, Bar, Bar, Goo] and wish to extract all Goos from foos. At the moment I usually do something like goos = [Goo | Goo <- foos] and all is well. The problem is when Goo got a bunch of fields and I'm forced to write something like goos = [Goo a b c d e f | Goo a b c d e f <- foos] which is far from ideal. How you do usually handle this problem?

  I feel bad asking this question but I am currently not able to program and test this as I'm writing this on my cell-phone and not on my dev machine :P (Easy rep points if someone answers! XD ) Anyway, I've had experience with using hashvalues from String objects. E.g., if I have StringA and StringB both equal to "foo", they'll both compute out the same hashvalue, because they're set to equal values. Now what if I have a List, with T being a native data type. If I tried to compute the hashvalue of ListA and ListB, assuming that they'd both be the same size and contain the same information, wouldn't they have equal hashvalues as well? Assuming as sample dataset of 'byte' with a length of 5 {5,2,0,1,3}

• Building a code search engine for java code in git repositories

  I'm trying to build a Java code search engine. Apart from just searching for keywords, I would also like cross-referencing between classes to work. It should work the way eclipse's referencing works - click on anything to open the definition. Bonus would be if something like search-all-usages-of-foo works. I'm thinking of using Apache Solr to index the files and build the basic search. But I'm not sure how I'd do the crossreferencing part since Solr doesn't understand Java code. Any suggestions on what I could use here? EDIT: I mainly want to index a lot of java git repositories.

• does a ruby on rails rack class get access to the entire rails environment?

  that is when the def call(env) method is invoked by hitting any url, can I inside that method make some ActiveRecord queries, use classes defined in lib, etc. etc. Or is it more like an irb console without the rails env loaded? Another way to put it with a rake task example: task :foo => :environment do # with env end task :foo2 do # without env end I would think rack classes would NOT get the environment so they are super fast and don't take all the overhead of a normal rails request. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I CAN make ActiveRecord queries inside my rack class. So what is the advantage of rack then?
