    Hi there! When Flex application make an asynchronus HTTP request, does it add a special header to the request, like some JavaScript framework does? Something that indicates whether this request is an AJAX call/not. I just want my server side code to return different response format, depending on whether the request is made from browser/flex.   • 2 roles, admin and user. Is using anything other than basic http auth overkill?

    I'm building my first website with rails,it consists of a blog, a few static pages and a photo gallery. The admin section has namespaced controllers. I also want to create a mailing list, collecting contact info, (maybe a spree store in the future too.) Should I just use basic http authentication and check if the user is admin? Or is a plugin like authlogic better, then define user roles even though there would only be two; admin and user?

    I have a Reports controller and various reports: http://localhost/reports/main/this_month http://localhost/reports/main/last_month http://localhost/reports/main/this_year I wanted http://localhost to default to http://localhost/reports/main/this_month. That is easy enough using map.root in my routes.rb. However when I do this any links to http://localhost/reports/main/this_month are now shortened to just http://localhost. I want the links to stay full

However, of course I don't get a constructor, so can't inject it into that. What's the best way to go about this? EDIT To avoid common answers that show how to load images from a URL: i already know how to do that, i have also posted the code above, so why do you keep referencing tutorials on that? I explicitly was very clear about the problem: Why is HttpClient.execute(...)already fetching the whole content and storing it in memory instead of providing a proper ÌnputStreamto me? Please don't post any beginner tutorials on how to load aBitmap`from a URL...

    An XML file is being posted to a url that my spring mvc is responding to. In .NET, I could do this: request.Form[0] request.Form["abc"] or request.QueryString[0] request.QueryString["some_key"] Now with spring/servlets it seems I can only do this: request.getParameter("some_key") or get all the names or values. When someone is posting a file to a url, using http post, won't this be just a single request parameter then? Can I get the parameter using index with servlets?

  • Opening a streaming connection to an HTTP server on iPhone/Cocoa environment?

    I've been using NSURLConnection to do a HTTP post to establish the connection. I've also implemented the didReceiveData delegagate to process incoming bytes as they become available. As incoming data comes in via didReceiveData, I add the NSData to a data buffer and try parsing the bytesteam if enough data has come in to complete a message segment. I'm having a hard time managing the data buffer (NSMutableData object) to remove bytes that have been parsed to structs. Was curious if there's an easier way. Thanks

  • if curl getinfo for HTTP CODE is not returning a code!?

    Hi, I am doing a normal curl call to a webservice and I grab the return HTTP code through $code = curl_getinfo ($ch, CURLINFO_HTTP_CODE); It does return me $code as 200 - which is good. But logging the curl calls now from a week, there where few calls to the same webservice which didn't return anything! so basically I am getting $code as blank. Can someone tell me what should be going wrong under those scenarios, and if can debug it more!? Thanks, Tanmay
