  Hi everybody, i have a doub... Is posible implement the business logic in an App Server remote using pojos instead of either EJB or Servlets???. The main idea is apply a model of 3 layers where the clients may be both web browsers and desktop applications, and they share the business logic in an App Server. • T-SQL: How to make a positive value turn into the equivalent negative value (e.g "10.00" to "-10.00"

  Ok so i have a DECIMAL field called "Score". (e.g 10.00) Now, in my SP, i want to increment/decrement the value of this field in update transactions. So i might want to do this: SET @NewScore = @CurrentScore + @Points Where @Points is the value im going to increment/decrement. Now lets say @Points = 10.00. In a certain scenario, i want 10.00 to become -10.00 So the statement would be translated to: SET @NewScore = @CurrentScore + -10.00 How can i do that? I know its a strange question, but basically i want that statement to be dynamic, in that i dont want to have a different statement for incrementing/decrementing the value. I just want something like this: SET @Points = 10.00 IF @ActivityBeingPerformedIsFoo BEGIN -- SET @Points to be equivalent negative value, (e.g -10.00) END SET @NewScore = @CurrentScore + @Points

• Using windows CopyFile function to copy all files with certain name format

  Hello! I am updating some C code that copys files with a certain name. basically, I have a directory with a bunch of files named like so: AAAAA.1.XYZ AAAAA.2.ZYX AAAAA.3.YZX BBBBB.1.XYZ BBBBB.2.ZYX Now, In the old code, they just used a call to ShellExecute and used xcopy.exe. to get all the files starting with AAAAA, they just gave xcopy the name of the file as AAAAA.* and it knew to copy all of the files starting with AAAAA. now, im trying to get it to copy with out having to use the command line, and I am running into trouble. I was hoping CopyFile would be smart enough to handle AAAAA.* as the file to be copied, but it doesnt at all do what xcopy did. So, any Ideas on how to do this without the external call to xcopy.exe?

  Im trying to make a gradient that emits from the middle of the screen in white, and turns to black as it moves toward the edges of the screen. As I make a "normal" gradient like this, I have been experimenting with different shapes: <shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:shape="rectangle"> <gradient android:startColor="#E9E9E9" android:endColor="#D4D4D4" android:angle="270"/> </shape> When using the "oval"-shape I at least got a round shape, but there were no gradient effect. • TeamCity Mercurial, How to handle tags and releases

  Hi First off, i'm new to Teamcity comming from CC. I have a server up and running and building my projects, so far so good :). My problem is this: Whenever I make a Mercurial Tag, I would like TeamCity to react in a special way, so that the resulting binaries/artifacts from the Tag build, are made avaliable for download (automatic release when tagging). In short can I do automated release so that when I create a Tag AND it builds successfully then the result is copied to some location X, but ONLY when I Tag. Im pretty sure that this can be done, but when I read the posts around the net and read the documentation, I tend to get a little confused about artifacts/build scripts/publishing and how to do it. Can anyone give me some hints about where/how to start or guide me to a location with a tutorial/example of how to do this? I want it soooooo bad :-D. Kind regards

  Hi Im trying to position an element so its slightly positioned outside its parent item. In IE8 it works but in IE7 the positioned element gets clipped. Here's my code HTML: <div id="parent"> <div id="child">text</div> </div> The CSS #parent { height: 40px; width: 400px; position: relative; } #child { position: absolute; width: 100px; height: 60px; top: 0px; left: 0px; } In IE7 you will see that the last 20px of the child element gets clipped. • Storing users in a database

  Im wondering whats the best way of storing different types of users in my database. I am writing an application that has 4 main user types (admin, school, teacher, student). At the moment I have a table for each of these but i'm not sure thats the best way of storing user information. For instance... Allowing students to PM other student is simple (store sender and receiver student_id) but enabling teachers to PM students requires another table (sender teacher_id, sender student_id). Should all users be stored in one users table with a user_type field? If so, the teacher / student specific information will still have to be stored in another table. users user_id, password_hash, user_type students user_id, student_specific_stuff... teachers user_id, teacher_specific_stuff... How do I stop a user who has a user_type = student from being accidentally being entered into the teachers table (as both have a user_id) Just want to make sure I get the database correct before i go any further. • C# property in a form class only accessable after formload event

  using vs2008, c# Howdy, Im instantiating and calling Form B from Form A. FormB has some custom properties, to allow me to pass it things like sqlAdaptors and dataset instances. When i instantiate and show Form B from Form A as a dialog form with a Using statement, it all works fine, but i find the properties i pass are not available in Form B until after the form_load event has fired. I was under the impression the properties when passed to a instantiated class should be available from a constructor, but this is not the case. If it try to access the properties before the form load event i get a null reference exception. Is this correct behavior ? It is very annoying. thanks for any help

  Please see screenshot Goal: id like to have comments nested 1 level deep The comments would be arranged so that rating of the parent is in descending order the rating of the children comments is irrelevant The left hand side of the screenshot shows the output that Id like. The RHS shows the table data. All of the comments are held in 1 table. Im a beginner with SQL queries, the best I can do is: SELECT * FROM [Comments] WHERE ([ArticleId] = @ArticleId) ORDER BY [ThreadId] DESC, [DateMade] This somewhat does the job, but it obviously neglects the rating. So the above statement would show output where Bobs Comment and all of the children comments are before Amy's and her childrens comments. How can I run this query correctly?

  I'm sorry if im not presenting this right, but i trully cannot understand what the problem is. i have a project to hand in, a code of 600 lines defined within a main, .cpp, and header file. if i compile the project with just a debugger and no release, it's fine. when i create it with the release, the following error occurs, for every function!!! 1st error: |36|multiple definition of `countLines(int&, std::vector const&)'| 2nd error: |36|first defined here| if someone will allow me and i can send them the entire code, that would be awesome - i have to have this done within 3 hours.

  I have a ServiceInstall component in a WiX installer where I have a requirement to either start auto or demand depending on parameters passed into the MSI. So the Xml element in question is <ServiceInstall Vital="yes" Name="My Windows Service" Type="ownProcess" Account="[SERVICEUSERDOMAIN]\[SERVICEUSERNAME]" DisplayName="My Service" Password="[SERVICEUSERPASSWORD]" Start="demand" Interactive="no" Description="Something interesting here" Id="Service" ErrorControl="ignore"></ServiceInstall> WiX will not allow using a PArameter for the Start attribute, so Im stuck with completely suplicating the component with a condition, eg/ <Component Id="ServiceDemand" Guid="{E204A71D-B0EB-4af0-96DB-9823605050C7}" > <Condition>SERVICESTART="demand"</Condition> ... and completely duplicating the whole component, with a different setting for Start and a different Condition. Anyone know of a more elegant solution? One where I don;t have to maintain 2 COmponents whjich do exactly the same thing except the Attribute for Start?

• Deploying a Web Application from the command line

  Hi. Im looking to deploy a web application on a build server. It is a very small web app and so far i have written a nice little console app that checks out from SVN and then calls msbuild on the .sln file. This of course is not the same as publishing a web app and so far have not found a programatic way of publishing. So my question is this.. After msbuild has run can i simply delete all .cs and .vb files and then deploy? or Should i really try and find a way to publish programatically?

  Im currently using a UITableView like any other, and I am researching into the ability to perform a swipe gesture on the screen, which will then shift the contents of the visible table over to display new content for example: swiping right-to-left on the screen would change (via animation) the contents within each of the cells on screen to show new data. What I can do is detect a swipe on the cells, or perhaps on the UITableViewController, but what I dont know how to do two fold: 1) Change data in all cells (could you have a set of hidden views within a custom table cell that animate in and out of each cell per swipe?) 2) How can you do this to all cells? But when i use this and lets say i go to another page in my site and then go back to the homepage its sets a new cookie with the exact same name and with the ref of the previous page. Is there away to avoid this?
