• Fade out/in sperate divs with button click

  I saw a flash website and was curious to now if this is something possible to build using Jquery, obviously not the entire thing. I was more looking to fade out div1 and div2 with a button click. This is the example site: www.justinfarrellyconstruction.com Example: If i come to the homepage and click the portfolio button the Gallery Div will fade out then fade in another image. At the same time the Text div will fade out its content and load the portfolio text. My apologies if this does not make sense, this is all quite new to me and im trying got learn.

• Android use of an string array on another method

  Hi all. Im trying to make an activity that has a multiple choice dialog after you push a button. In there you select from a list of things. But these things are received from a web method before the dialog appears. So I create a string array after I receive them inside the onCreate to initialise it there with the correct size. But my dialog method then cant get the array because propably its out of its scope. My code looks like this @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) //Here is where the array is loaded to the multiple select dialog etc @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) //Here is where i initialise the array and get its contents etc I cant initialise my array when the class starts because I dont know its size yet. This has to do something with the scopes of my variables and I am pretty confused

• sharpziplib - can you add a file without it copying the entire zip first?

  Im trying to add an existing file to a .zip file using sharpziplib - problem is, the zip file is 1GB in size. When i try to add 1 small file (400k) sharpziplib creates a copy/temp of the orig zip file before adding the new file - this poses a problem when the amount of free disk space is less than 2x the zip file you are trying to update. for example: 1GB zip myfile.zip 1GB zip myfile.zip.tmp.293 ZipFile zf = new ZipFile(path); zf.BeginUpdate(); zf.Add(file); // Adding a 400k file here causes a 1GB temp file to be created zf.EndUpdate(); zf.Close(); Is there a more efficient way to do this?   This an extract from an c program that should demonstrate a bufferoverflow. void foo() { char arr[8]; printf(" enter bla bla bla"); gets(arr); printf(" you entered %s\n", arr); } The question was "How many input chars can a user maximal enter without a creating a buffer overflow" My initial answer was 8, because the char-array is 8 bytes long. Although I was pretty certain my answer was correct, I tried a higher amount of chars, and found that the limit of chars that I can enter, before I get a segmentation fault is 11. (Im running this on A VirtualBox Ubuntu) So my question is: Why is it possible to enter 11 chars into that 8 byte array?

  hey guys, what's the best way to do that: i have a list <ul> <li>hello</li> <li>good bye</li> <li>arrivederci</li> <li class="selected">dude</li> <li>whatever</li> </ul> Initially one item already has a class of .selected applied. When i hover over one of the list-items i want this one to have the .selected class. So every item should only have the class applied when im over, as soon as i leave the item the class get's removed and the next one has the class.

  I'm new to python but I caught on to the basics pretty quick and decided to start trying to make a program while I'm still learning, since I learn best by actually doing things. So I'm making a program in python that will add polynomials and I need to see if a character from the parser is numeric im using the isdigit() command. Instead of having to type isdigit() all the time in my code such as n.isdigit(), I want to assign it to a variable t = 'isdigit()' and then type n.t. This doesn't work, so is there an alternative to not typing the whole command?

  Hi, Is there a way to rollback to a specific starting point. Im looking for something like this. Start specific_point; Now after this, an other application connected with the SAME login will insert & delete datas (webservices with crud operations) for about 2 minutes doing tests. Each webservice call is declared as a transaction with Spring Ws. After that i want to rollback to the specific_point to have a clean database to a known previous state. I was thinking that ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT foo; was the solution but not unfortunately? Any idea ? Configuration: PostgreSQL 8.4 / windows XP Regards

  Hi, Im loading an entity 'Member' from its id in route data. [ListItemsForMembershipType(true)] public ActionResult Edit(Member someMember) {...} The attribute on the action loads the membership type list items for a dropdown box and sticks it in viewdata. This is fine for add forms, and search forms (it gets all active items) but I need the attribute to execute BASED ON THE VALUE someMember.MembershipTypeId, because its current value must always be present when loading the item (i.e. all active items, plus the one from the loaded record). So the question is, what is the standard pattern for this? How can my attribute accept the value or should I be loading the viewdata for the drop down in a controller supertype or during model binding or something else? It is in an attribute now because the code to set the viewdata would otherwise be duplicated in each usage in each action.

  hey guys i have a tag table in my php/mysql project that looks like this Table name : bt_tags Table fileds : tid,tag and for every story rows there is a filed named : tags Table name: stories table filed : tags that saved in this field as ids 1 5 6 space between them now problem : when using while loop to fetch all fields in story table , the page uses 1 query to show every stories' detail but for showing tag's names , i should query another table to find names , we have ids stored in story table now i used for loop between while loop to show tag names but im sure there is a better way to decrease page queries how can i improve this script and show tag's names without using *for loop ?* $result = $db->sql_query("SELECT * FROM ".STORY_TABLE." • Image Preloading in Canvas

  I'm drawing an Image on the canvas using the drawImage function. This is how Im setting the src property of the image: var img = new Image(); // Create new Image object img.src = 'test.php?filename=myfile.jpg' and then oCanvas.width = 600; oCanvas.height = 400; oContext.drawImage(img, 0, 0, 600, 400); The problem is that if the src isn't set then I get the foll error:"uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIDOMCanvasRenderingContext2D.drawImage]" . I know I get this error coz the image hasnt finished loading. I added an alert just before the call to drawImage function to let the image finish loading and it seems to work. But it's a pain in the neck. How do I check if the image has finished loading? BTW I have to set the src property by calling a php file.

• how to handle exceptions/errors in php?

  when using 3rd part libraries they tend to throw exceptions to the browser and hence kill the script. eg. if im using doctrine and insert a duplicate record to the database it will throw an exception. i wonder, what is best practice for handling these exceptions. should i always do a try...catch? but doesn't that mean that i will have try...catch all over the script and for every single function/class i use? Or is it just for debugging? i don't quite get the picture. Cause if a record already exists in a database, i want to tell the user "Record already exists". And if i code a library or a function, should i always use "throw new Expcetion($message, $code)" when i want to create an error? Please shed a light on how one should create/handle exceptions/errors. Thanks

  Hello all! I am new to web services and i have a question: Should a web service be able to access the client database? Sorry if i am not using the proper terms. Lets say i have a web service method called : GetCarDetails(string name) which will actually return details from car table. in this method i have an sql statement like SELECT * FROM car WHERE name = ?. In the client application, i have a textbox where i can input a name and a button on which when i click, fill a gridview. So im kinda confused, should the web service normally know that the client has a table called car?Please correct me if ive used the wrong terms. Thanks

And it works, BUT for another reason wich I do not understand it enters another jquery file called jsloader.js of a plugin I use for picture gallery display. I suppose all the module jquery files get preloaded before the one im calling inside the template. it enters the function() in the jsloader.js instead of the one in my jquery file.   Hello everyone, This is what im working on: i have two lists, first one: collumn user and collumn project that the user is assigend to. second one (library): a list of all the projects I was wondering, how, by every row that is created in the first list (so adding a user and a project) it is possible to grant the user permissions on this project's reference in the second library (the projects library). • Rewriting .each() loop as for loop to optimize, how to replicate $(this).attr()

  I running into some performance issues with a jquery script i wrote when running in ie so I'm going through it trying to optimize any way possible. Apparently using for loops is way faster than using the jQuery .each method. This has led me to a question regarding the equivalent of $(this) inside a for loop. I'm simplifying what I'm doing in my loop down to just using an attr() function as it gets across my main underlying question. Im doing this with each(simplified) var existing = $('#existing'); existing.each(function(){ console.log($(this).attr('id')); }); And I've tried rewriting it as a for loop as such: var existing = $('#existing'); for(var i = 0;i < existing.length;i++) { console.log(existing[i].attr('id')); } Its throwing an error saying: Uncaught TypeError: Object #<HTMLDivElement> has no method 'attr' Thanks.

• GET command is giving two kinds of ouput,why???

  iam using GET command to get the content of a page.When i write the same command on shell prompt it gives correct result but when i use that in PHP file then sometimes its giving correct result but sometimes it gives only half of the content i.e. end-half portion only. Iam using following command in shell script :- GET http://www.abc.com/ -H "Referer:http://www.abcd.com/" and following in PHP file :- $data=exec('GET http://www.abc.com/ -H "Referer:http://www.abcd.com/"'); echo $data; Now please tell why this command is not giving full content of the page when im using it in php file.

  Hello - I am currently starting to create an app for a small charity company. But Im not entirely sure how to properly learn how to code for the Android OS. I have searched online for tutorials but most stop at the same stage and only show you how to launch the "helloWorld" app. My question is this: 1) Will using solely XML be sufficient to code an app? Does it require working in partnership with java? 2) Does anyone know of any books, recommended books of course, that break everything down for you step-by-step? Cheers

• variable being weirdly deleted

  im having a weird problem with one variable: its not being recognized but its still printing. i would post my code, but it is massive. the basic idea is: # pseudocode def function(stuff): <do stuff> # These are the only 2 conditions if tag == 3: pka = <a string> if tag == 4: pka = <a string> print pka # (1) print pka # (2) <do stuff not modifying pka> print pka # (3) if pka == 'RSA': <do stuff> elif pka == 'DSA': <do stuff> my code will error at (2). however, it will print out (1), (2), and (3), all of which are the same. is there any general explanation of why this is happening? if my code is really needed, i will post it, but otherwise, i would rather not due to its size update: now the code will error at the if statement after (3), saying UnboundLocalError: local variable 'pka' referenced before assignment even though (1),(2),(3) just printed
