  I'm using the DBIx::Class modules for an ORM approach to an application I have. I'm having some problems with my relationships. From my reading of the MySQL documentation, this seems like a reasonable complaint, especially in regards to the third bullet point on this doc page. Here's my question. Am I missing something in the DBIx::Class module? I realize that I could explicitly create the necessary index to match up with this foreign key constraint, but that seems to be repetitive work. Is there something I should be doing to make this occur implicitly?

• How to repair Windows XP Installation HDD from another PC?

  My friend gave me his HDD that has Windows XP Pro installed on it to try and fix it. I don't have the XP CD to repair it, but I do have the ISO. I suppose I could always burn it.. but that's a lot of trouble because I don't have any blank CD's. I plugged it into my PC's hot-swap drive bay, and I have Daemon tools. Is there anyway I can try to repair the XP installation on this HDD from my PC without booting from it and burning my ISO?

  I've been a Mac user for ages and I don't have any copy of Windows (xp, vista or 7). So I need to make a clean install on my custom built pc currently running Linux. I have found some information regarding the existence of a "Windows 8 pro system builder" which will allow clean installs in blank disks without any pre-requisites for prior Windows versions, but all information is very vague and without references. Does anyone know how to do this kind of installation? Where can I buy the Windows 8 system builder?

• Fedora 14 - Error 5 - No space on Disk - After installation.

  I am new to Fedora, am still figure my way through it. I was going about tweaking it and preparing it to my needs, While installing through yum I dont have much other than the fact that I have to search for the packages. But when I open "Add/remove software" of Fedora. I am greeted with " No space left on the disk" and when I seek for more details it says " Disk Error :[errno 5] Input/output error" I did some research and I saw that it usually occurs during installation, but here I have successfully installed it. Can someone help me with it? Later on I even had notification of the same warning. And mind you I got loads of free space. Thanks for the help

• How to hide classes to external namespaces? Something like the package-protected modifier in Java

  In java is easy to "hide" classes from outside your package(namespace), as you can define them as package-protected. There seems to be no equivalent keyword modifier in C#. Is there any way I could mimic that behaviour in C#? I have a couple of classes that I really wouldn't like the rest of the assembly to know of. It is ok for classes in the same namespace to know of, but I'd like them to be hidden from the rest of the library/application. I know of the internal keyword, but that only hiddes classes if you try to access them from outside your assembly. That is not really my case, as I'd like to keep everything glued in just one .DLL/.EXE. Thanks

  I'm running a MySQL server, and want to keep it up to date with regular apt-upgrades. I don't want this to cause MySQL to upgrade unless I'm doing it during scheduled downtime! To resolve it I tried google read lots of but then find the following article MSIEXEC - The power user's install steps to solve the error: 1. Execute the following command from command prompt: msiexec /i program_name.msi /lv logfile.log where program_name.msi is the new version /lv is log Verbose output   2. open up the logfile.log in the editor 3. find the GUID in it I found it like the following Product Code from property table before transforms: '{GUID}' 4. Above mentioned article suggest  to search it in the registry but to find the uninstall command. Try if you like to see it in the registry. you need to search twice to to get there there you I tried the following command as it mentioned in the above mentioned article but it didn’t work for me. so I keep digging until I got Windows 7 and Windows Installer Error “Another installation is in progress” It mentioned the use of msizap.exe 5.   by combining the commands from both the articles I able to uninstall the service successfully execute the following command from the visual studio command prompt if you already have installed or get it from Microsoft website http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370523%28VS.85%29.aspx   msizap.exe TWP {GUID} it did the trick and removed the installed service successfully

  In one of the virtual environment while I was trying to add SQL Server Database (.mdf) file to asp.net project I encountered following error: Connections to SQL Server files (.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly. Please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL:  For a long time I am using SQL Server 2012 but this error was a bit interesting to me. I realize that there should not be any need of the SQL Server 2005 installation. • How can I "diff" two files with Nautilus?

  I have installed Meld and found out it's a great comparing tool. Unfortunately there is no integration with Nautilus 3.2. This means, I can't right click on files and select an option to open them in Meld for comparison. I have seen in the tools comment that the tool need the diff-ext package to be installed. This package has been removed from Ubuntu universe, I am guessing because gtk 3.0. Even if I manually downloaded from source forge the diff-ext package, when I try to configure it the check fails with the message: checking for DIFF_EXT... configure: error: Package requirements (libnautilus-extension >= 2.14.0 gconf-2.0 >= 2.14.0 gnome-vfs-module-2.0 >= 2.14) were not met: No package 'libnautilus-extension' found No package 'gconf-2.0' found No package 'gnome-vfs-module-2.0' found Ok, so from this output I gather that indeed gtk 2 is being required to install the diff extension to nautilus. Now, my question is: Is there a possibility to integrate Meld into Nautilus? Or, are there any other diff based tool which integrate with current Nautilus? So gtk3 based. • How does Microsoft Word And Excel Run without any installation?

  I was having a discussion on bookmarks in Word with a friend, and he suggested me to check out his implementation of a query in Word. Since I did not have Microsoft Word installed, I told him I don't have Word so I won't be able to test it. To this, he mentioned that he'll send the executables and it will work - I argued that without an installation this will fail. I was rather shocked when he sent me the standalone executables and on running them, Word actually launched and I was able to use almost every functionality o_0 How's this possible? I've never installed Microsoft Office on my system, this isn't any "portable" app or VMWare ThinStall ( thanks nhinkle, didn't know about this). There are absolutely no Microsoft Office related files - except for winword.exe and excel.exe. Curiously even Microsoft Excel works fine with just the standalone executable. winword.exe size is about 38 MB, and excel.exe size is just 35kb, which makes it even more strange. • Hard drive not correctly recognized on a new Windows 7 installation, but works correctly on Windows XP

  I'm having problems configuring a hard disk in a brand new, clean Windows 7 installation. System specs: Hard disk: WD VelociRaptor WD6000HLHX (600 GB, 10000 RPM) Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H BIOS SATA mode set to AHCI (not RAID), with disk connected to SATA0 (6 Gb/s port). Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit The disk is recognized by the BIOS and is correctly identified, with the name and size correctly reported. Windows recognizes the disk itself and reports the device is functioning correctly, but it doesn't appear in Explorer. Disk Management shows the drive, but incorrectly states that it is uninitialized and has no partitions. If I try to initialize the drive, I get an error saying that "the system cannot find the file specified" (what file?). Before connecting the drive to the new machine, I partitioned and formatted it under Windows XP SP2, creating 2 partitions (MBR, not GPT) and copying over a boatload of data. However, none of this data appears under Windows 7. If I put the disk back into the Windows XP machine, I can access the disk and all of its data. Is it possible to get Windows 7 to correctly recognize the disk without having to erase it and start over? If so, how do I do so? I checked this question, which seems to cover the same issue, but it didn't help.

  I'm trying to replace our old Windows 2000 Server by a Windows Server 2008 R2. I followed the guide at MSDN. Coming to the step "Install Active Directory Domain Services..." the option to install the DNS-Server was grayed-out. According to Microsoft Support I skipped the DNS Server Installation at this point. (Because of the single-label DNS name) I then installed the DNS-Server role and created a forward-lookup-zone for the domain. When running the Best Practices Analyzer of the DNS-Server role I get these two messages for both domain controllers (the old win2k and the new win 2008 R2): The DNS server [IP address] on [adapter name] must be able to resolve names in the primary DNS domain zone The DNS server [IP address] on [adapter name] must be able to resolve names in the forest root domain name zone The TechCenter articles suggest to use a proper DNS Server - that's pointless when I try to configure a proper DNS Server. How do I configure the DNS Server in a way that it resolves these zones? Or are these errors irrelevant? dcdiag /v /test:DNS Seems to run fine...

• What is the proper way of debugging a slow Windows installation?

  You know the drill - you've been asked to check why you cousin's computer is running slow. I was there yesterday. Being a Mac user since 2007 I haven't really dug deep in Windows internals in the past five years. Googling for answers reveals many, many different answers: broken registry, spyware, antivirus program, fragmented disk, turning of visual effects etc. In this particular case I was asked to look at a two year old HP laptop with Vista. Windows was running incredibly slow and even opening up a new explorer window took almost a minute. I ended up doing everything of the above: running cc cleaner, defragmenting the disk, turning off visual effects, turning off norton and a bunch of other things people believe have an impact on Windows performance. Now I'd like to understand this in depth. Is there a proper, "scientific" if you so will, way of debugging and understanding where the problem with a slow running Windows installation lies? (In my particular case this concerned Windows Vista but let's try to create general guide for XP and Windows 7 too). To me, it seems wrong to just run a bunch of different tools without understanding the underlying cause of the error.

• Hibernate & Sleep broken after IE 9 RTM installation in Windows 7 x64.

  I have a question about hibernation. I installed Internet Explorer 9 RTM x64 on my Windows 7 x64 SP1 desktop machine. After this, computer don't entry the hibernation or (hybrid) sleep state properly. After I hibernate the computer the monitor become blank screen and the keyboard and mouse are inactive. But the machine is still running and there isn't any possibility to switch them off as only with power button. But this is recognized on next start as ineligible because of log entry with message “The previous system shutdown at xx:xx:xx on ?xx.?xx.?x was unexpected“ and menu with safe mode option. I’m clearly not sure if it has something to do with Internet Explorer installation, but I’m definitely guaranteed that before of this I never had some problems with hibernation or (hybrid) sleep. In Windows logs isn’t something suspect. I switched the hibernation off and on, installed new drivers for mainboard, graphic and network card, checked the hard disk, nothing was helpful. This is really sad, beacuse I don't like to switch the computer completely off because it takes longer to boot. Any suggestions?
