• Html POST and return the same form with the values

  Hi, I'm learning web development, and I don't know how do this simple thing. I've a html form with "text", "radio" and "checkbox" controls, that POST the values to the server and it saves them, for example in a file. I save the POST in raw format: key=value&key=value&key=value&key=value and I'd like that when the user open the form back, return the form with the saved values already in the controls. Is there any neat way to do this? Or should I parse the POST string and set the values one by one in the controls at the server level? I think, I could return the saved data in a hidden input control, and after with a javascript I could do a getElementById(key) and set the value to each input control... but do I need to put the post string in a special format? How would you do it? Thank you in advance.

• POST serialized JSON object to a Coldfusion remote method instead of using FORM

  I have javascript object which consists of complex array of structures with nested structures of other javascript objects created dynamicaly on page etc. long story. I can't use form since my vars would be like 2_34_x_y_foo_bar_235423 due to the nature of UI. When I send that stringified object using GET .ajax request to a remote cfc method everything runs ok until JSON becomes 4000+ chars long, and usually it will be longer then that. When I use POST .ajax, I get 302 status and redirection to cfcexplorer. Is there some way I could "attach" object to a form and send my data as form submit, or some way to send JSON object as it is now using ajax call?

  I am working on python and biopython right now. I have a file upload form and whatever file is uploaded suppose(abc.fasta) then i want to pass same name in execute (abc.fasta) function parameter and display function parameter (abc.aln). Workflow goes like this. ----If submit is not true then display only header and form part --- if submit is true then call execute() and get file name from form input --- Then display the save file result in the same page. '\s*=\s*(.*?)}% -->#', ...) What I would like it to do is search across multiple lines for the string. • Codeigniter Form Validation - how to unset form values after success?

  I realise this request goes against the example provided in the CI documentation (which advises a separate 'success' page view), but I would like to reutilise a given form view after a form has been successfully submitted - displaying a success message then displaying a blank form. I've tried a few ways unsuccessfully to clear the validation set values (unsetting $_POST, setting rules / fields to an empty array and rerunning validatio). I could redirect to the same page, but then I'd have to set a session variable to display a success message - which is a messy approach. Any ideas how to achieve the above?

  I have to read the content from HTML file and then the parameters for different heading should be entered into the form in php and then i need to save the page and submit it so that it will be saved in the databse. I need to automate this whole process since i have approx 2000 HTML files which should be read and should be entered in a form in PHP. Do you have any idea about any tool which can help in this process. small idea will be also helpful. Note : i can not enter the contents from HTML directly into the databse from back end since there are many fields which are getting auto generated when i am saving and submitting the form. thanks in advance.

• Drupal form being rendered before submit action

  I have a Drupal module page where I am populating a form with a drop-down that contains a list of available parts of a set of files that the user can upload. Once the user uploads a file of a certain type, it removes that option from the list, and when all the available files are uploaded the form will not be rendered. The problem is that Drupal is drawing the form before it carries out the submit action, so it appears to the user that the operation didn't work until they reload the page. What is the common way to deal with this? Setting form_state['redirect'] to go to the page doesn't seem to work.

  Hi all, Someone came to me and asked me if I could add a form to their Joomla page. I figured this should be easy since Joomla is widely used and such thing should be supported. I'm googling arround for 1,5h now, and I have given 4 formcreators a try but this is driving me crazy. The editors are all very complex for the simplest task I want. A simple form with: 5 text input; 1 radio selection criteria; the message a visitor sends. So I've given pretty much up upon formbuilders.   Hi, I am having a bit of an issue with the way CI is dealing with /. In a regular form i notice that the following form action didn't work action="mydomain.com/ci-controller/login/" but this one does work action="mydomain.com/ci-controller/login" Strange but he it worked. But now i need this from a iframe, i the iframe i have a login form which sets the parents url to mydomain.com/ci-controller/login, but i get the same error as it was calling mydomain.com/ci-controller/login/ Could my problem be that the call from the iframe adds a trailing / which is not visible?? Any thoughts

  I'm using Spring's form tag library in a Spring MVC application that I am developing. The company I am working for has implemented some company-wide policies based on the definition of custom attributes for certain tags. For instance, by default (though the inclusion of a standard javascript file) all tags have their values automatically converted to upper case. In order to disable this one would define their tag with a custom attribute in the following way: <input type="text" uppercase="false" /> The problem is that the addition of these custom attributes to a spring:form tag causes an error at runtime. I've pasted the error below. org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /WEB-INF/jsp/reportCriteria.jsp(45,5) Attribute uppercase invalid for tag input according to TLD My question is: is there any way to extend the TLD to allow for these attributes, or is there any other way add these custom attributes to these spring:form tags?

  What's the best way to automate this function? I want to be able to do this in Outlook 2010, (1)select a specific mail account (2)Key in a folder that I am looking for (3)Then have the macro/program fire off an "*" asterisk (4)Then insert the text that I keyed in step one. I am trying to automate the search for a folder hot-keys that already exist. My problem is that I can't type the folder that I am looking for fast enough and all the search programs that I have used are far too slow. The hot-key search is awesome and super fast, I just can't type the folder that I am looking for fast enough. Can this process be automated? However, I have no idea on calculating the search's accuracy and efficiency. For example: 1 . Probe identification system for a measurement instrument 2 . Pulse-based impedance measurement instrument 3 . Millimeter with filtered measurement mode when the user key in will return the result as below input :measurement instrument Result: 1,2 input : measurement OR instrument NOT milimeter Result: 1,2,3 so, i have no idea on what issue and what algorithm to calculate on the accuracy and efficiency of the text search.. anyone have any idea on that?

• Rails 3 remote resubmit form with dynamic fields

  I have a form which has remote => true. When i submit it the first time everything works well. If there are any errors i want to add new fields to this form. I did this with update.js.erb. The problem is that when i resubmit this form, the result js file is rendered as html (ie i see the js file text on the screen). This is the same update.js.erb file that was rendered as js the first time... Any idea what i'm missing?

My problem is that it will ONLY draw the string in the upper-left portion of the form, roughly 260x260 starting at 0,0. It literally cuts off the text if it goes beyond. Why is this? Shouldn't it work for the entire form?

• Front-end phtml template form doesn't connect to controller.php file

  The web system which I'm working on right now, has a add.phtml (in views folder) form, which contain normal form elements and pageController.php (in Controller folder) file which has function to be connected when user hit "add page" button on the form. The codes goes like this. on add.phtml file, input type = "submit" value ="Add Page" on pageController.php file, function insertAction(){ } For some reason these two doesn't connect now.   Hi, let's say I have a blog with a module "post". now I display a post like this: post/index?id=1 in the index-action i generate a new CommentForm and pass it as $this-form to the template and it is being displayed at the bottom of a post (it's just a textfield, nothing special). form action is set to "post/addcomment". How can I display the validation errors in this form? using setTemplate('index') doesn't work because I would have to pass the id=1 to it... thanks

• jQuery .animate reveal contact form hidden in div with negative margin above header

  Hi everyone, I've got my contact form hidden with a negative margin-top, so that when the visitor clicks "Contact" it reveals the div. <script type="text/javascript">$("#revealContact").click(function(){ $("#contact").animate({ marginTop: "+=620px" }, 1000); });</script> You can view it live here: http://www.brianrhea.com/index_contact.php -- click Contact link in top right My problem is that as soon as the form is submitted, it inherits the -620 margin and the success (or error) prompt is invisible. I'm running in to some other cross-compatibility issues as well with the margin spacing so I'm not even sure this is the best way to go about this. Obviously it'd be great if I could just begin with the div as display:hidden and then animate it to visible, but I haven't been able to do that. Any input is appreciated, either with advice on how to save the margin after form submission, or suggestion on better method to achieve this hide/reveal. Thanks, Brian
