  • To HTML 5 or not to HTML 5 ?

    I am a designer whose main marketing strategy is multi browser compatibility. I assure my clients that the site will work even in IE6 (!). Of late i have been pondering over the question of moving to HTML 5. The reason behind my apprehension is that IE6 is still a major player in terms of market share and i don't want to lose it. Is there any way of moving to HTML 5 and still promise multi browser compatibility? Thank you.

The queries are always in the form of range queries on the key space (keys are numbers) hence any persistent B-Tree like structure will handle the situation. I would like to use BDB-Java Edition but the product is closed source and my company doesn't want to buy BDB-JE License.   • Sharing assemblies between .Net 4 and Silverlight 4

    At the last PDC (can't remember which talk it was) they gave us the information that it will be possible to share assemblies between regular .Net 4 and Silverlight 4. Unfortunately I can't find anything on this. Was this feature dropped? What options/limitations are there? (There are similar questions on SO but they don't say if they apply to SL3 or 4.)

  • .NET Impersonate and file upload issues

    I have a webpage that allows a user to upload a file to a network share. When I run the webpage locally (within VS 2008) and try to upload the file, it works! However, when I deploy the website to the webserver and try to upload the file through the webpage, it doesn't work! The error being returned to me on the webserver says "Access to the path '\05prd1\emp\test.txt' is denied. So, obviously, this is a permissions issue. The network share is configured to allow full access both to me (NT authentication) and to the NETWORK SERVICE (which is .NET's default account and what we have set in our IIS application pool as the default user for this website). I have tried this with and without impersonation upon the webserver and neither way works, yet both ways work on my local machine (in other words, with and without impersonation works on my local machine). The code that does the file upload is below.   • Apache tiles and body onload event. Known issue?

Often the document onload event (actually prototype's dom:loaded event) is getting fired before all DOM objects are actually loaded Is it possible that the tiles templates are loading in an asynchronous fashion and therefore doing an end run around the event handler? Has anyone else had this experience? Can anyone share a robust workaround? thanks in advance

  • HMVC/PAC - how to handle shared abstractions/models?

    In HMVC/PAC, what's the recommended way to code if two or more triads/agents share a common model/abstraction? Do you instantiate a new instance of that model wherever needed, and propogate a change in one to all the other instances via the controllers? Or do instantiate one model at some common upper level, and inject that instance wherever needed? (Or neither if I'm missing something fundamental about these patterns?)

    Hi Guys, How do you generally proceed for your package installations on Linux, for packages that are not part of your distrib's repos? On my side I am used to install in /opt. But since, I saw this doc on the Internet: http://www.pathname.com/fhs/. Now I am confused: apparently /usr/local would be also a possibility. What is the difference between both?   • how to add a sharethis button to my flash file?
