• Installing CXF with Eclipse 3.5

  As per http://help.eclipse.org/helios/topic/org.eclipse.jst.ws.cxf.doc.user/reference/preferences.html The CXF 2.x preferences can be accessed via Window > Preferences... > Web Services > CXF 2.x Preferences from the top level menu. but I dont see the option CXF 2.x Preferences under Web Services, though I have chosen JavaEE perspective. any ideas how to enable this? Sorry for such a simple question. I also cannot do not see CXF as a Project Facet as per http://help.eclipse.org/helios/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse.jst.ws.jaxws.doc.user/gettingstarted/requirements.html I know this is something to do with getting Eclipse aware of CXF libraries, but cant find the tutorial for this.

• log4j: Change format of loggers configured in another library.

  Using clojure, I've been able to successfully setup log4j very simply by using this log4j.properties file, and including log4j in my classpath. # BEGIN log4j.properties log4j.appender.STDOUT=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender log4j.appender.STDOUT.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.STDOUT.layout.ConversionPattern=%d{MMdd HHmmss SSS} %5p %c [%t] %m\n log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, STDOUT Then after :use'ing clojure.contrib.logging, I'm able to print a statement with the desired formatting as expected like so: (info "About to print this") (debug "This is debug-level") My question is how to achieve a consistent formatting for logging statements made from loggers configured in other libraries. I thought I could find existing loggers using org.apache.log4j.LogManager.getCurrentLoggers() and change the PatternLayouts there, but I'm not able to iterate over that enumeration in clojure, as I get the following error: Dont know how to create ISeq from: java.util.Vector$1 I assume this is possible somehow, and probably very simply.   I am sure this question has been asked hundreds of time and been responded equally. I am trying to get a clear picture of my effort before I embark on this. I want to know if SVNImporter or any other tool out there helps me migrate my UCM VOBs to Subversion repos. I dont mind losing some history. Also please share your strategies if there are no tools out there. I was told by someone that I would have to rebase my view with each baseline from oldest to the newest and incrementally commit that code into Subversion. While this seems to be plain and simple but considering the number of VOBs we have here, this would be a gigantic task for us to do manually. Is there any script out there that I can use to automate this process. Comments please!!! Thanks Gnan

  How do i render a web cam filter instead of video file? I am looking at the vmr9compositor example included in the directshow sdk. It renders a video file. I would like to stream in the feed from the webcam. It SEEMS like this should be possible, but I dont have much of a grasp on directshow. It uses this method call currently: hr = g_graph->RenderFile( pFileName, NULL ); Looking at the playcap example in the sdk which can display the web cam feed in a window, I see that it uses hr = g_pCapture->RenderStream (&PIN_CATEGORY_PREVIEW, &MEDIATYPE_Video, pSrcFilter, NULL, NULL)); to display the web cam stream. pSrcFilter is an IBaseFilter. How can I can swap the video file in the vmr app with the web cam feed? Windows XP, Visual Studio 2008 C++

• Using Excel To Read Access Without MS Access On Computer

  I have written code that joins two table in access, using criteria supplied from drop down lists in excel and then returns the data to a specific location on the spreadsheet (titles already on the sheet). This works fine on my box and others with MS Access on the machine, but the purpose of writing this was to give people (associates) that dont have the MS Access on their machines (which is most of them) to be able to do simple queries to the database. When we try to run this on a machine without MS Access, we are getting the error message "Compile Error: Cant find project or library." Since this works fine on any machine so far that has Access, but not the others I am wondering if this is not possible without the actual Access software. Any help or insight would be appreciated.   Hello, I'm developing a MVC .Net site and would like to implement a CMS system. So far I have looked at Umbraco, which looks good but the help is poor and the getting started video section is empty, and dotnetnuke, which again looks good but I get the impression its aimed at non developers, plus to has much more than I need and want. In my last job I created a basic custom CMS system that worked by simply adding values into the database, the application called the text from there. it worked fine but I don’t have the source code. what I'm after is a simple CMS system that really just controls text and images, I dont need all the fancy stuff thats in umbraco and dotnetnuke, all the design and CSS i can do myself. also as im working with MVC (which is awesome, and such a breath of fresh air compared to the web forms/telerik crap I have to put up with at work) it needs to be compatible. A simple CMS, can anyone provide any suggestion ? Truegilly

• A "smart" (forgiving) date parser?

  I have to migrate a very large dataset from one system to another. One of the "source" column contains a date but is really a string with no constraint, while the destination system mandates a date in the format yyyy-mm-dd. Many, but not all, of the source dates are formatted as yyyymmdd. So to coerce them to the expected format, I do (in Perl): return "$1-$2-$3" if ($val =~ /(\d{4})[-\/]*(\d{2})[-\/]*(\d{2})/); The problem arises when the source dates moves away from the "generic" yyyymmdd. The goal is to salvage as many dates as possible, before giving up. Example source strings include: 21/3/1998, March 2004, 2001, 3/4/97 I can try to match as many of the examples I can find with a succession of regular expressions such as the one above. But is there something smarter to do? Am I not reinventing the wheel? Is there a library somewhere doing something similar? I couldn't find anything relevant googling "forgiving date parser". (any language is OK).

  I am going to be working on a project, a web application. I was reading 37signals getting real pamphlet online (http://gettingreal.37signals.com/), and I understand the recommended process to build the entire website. Brainstorm, sketch, HTML, code. They touch on each process lightly, but they never really talk much about the coding process (all they say is to keep code lean). I've been reading about different ways to go about it (top to bottom, bottom to top) but I dont know much about each way. I even read somewhere that one should write tests for the code before they actually write the code??? WHAT? What coding process should one follow when building an application. if its necessary, I'm using PHP and a framework.

• MSBuild / PowerShell: Copy SQL Server 2012 database to SQL Azure via BACPAC (for Continuous Integration)

  I'm creating a continuous integration MSBuild script which copies a database in on-premise SQL Server 2012 to SQL Azure. Easy right? Methods After a fair bit of research I've come across the following methods: Use PowerShell to access the DAC library directly, then use the MSBuild PowerShell extension to wrap the script. This would require installing PowerShell 3 and working out how to make the MSBuild PowerShell extension work with it, as apparently MS moved the DAC API to a different namespace in the latest version of the library. PowerShell would give direct access to the API, but may require quite a bit of boilerplate. Use the sample DAC Framework Client Side Tools, which requires compiling them myself, as the downloads available from Codeplex only include the Hosted version. It would also require fixing them to use DAC 3.0 classes as they appear to currently use an earlier version of DAC. I could then call these tools from an <Exec Command="" /> in the MSBuild script. Less boilerplate and if I hit any bumps in the road I can just make changes to the source. Processes Using whichever method, the process could be either: Export from on-premise SQL Server 2012 to local BACPAC Upload BACPAC to blog storage Import BACPAC to SQL Azure via Hosted DAC Or: Export from on-premise SQL Server 2012 to local BACPAC Import BACPAC to SQL Azure via Client DAC Question All of the above seems to be quite a lot of effort for something that seems to be a standard feature... so before I start reinventing the wheel and documenting the results for all to see, is there something really obvious that I've missed here? Is there pre-written script that MS has released that I have not yet uncovered? There's an command in the GUI of SQL Server Management Studio 2012 that does EXACTLY what I'm trying to do (right click on local database, click "Tasks", click "Deploy Database to SQL Azure"). Surely if it's a few clicks in the GUI it must be a single command on the command line somewhere??

  In my application, there is one button in the navigation bar. I want it to work only for the 1t click of the user. If he continousally presses on it 2 or 3 times just after the 1st click the button shouldnt recieve the following ones. How can I do this? My app always crashes if the user presses it for more than once. I dont want to make it multithread and use lock. Thats why i want to know whether there is anyother alternative.

Error Provider should associate with control passed dynamically and can be set or cleared at run time. • How many instructions to access pointer in C?

  Hi All, I am trying to figure out how many clock cycles or total instructions it takes to access a pointer in C. I dont think I know how to figure out for example, p-x = d-a + f-b i would assume two loads per pointer, just guessing that there would be a load for the pointer, and a load for the value. So in this operations, the pointer resolution would be a much larger factor than the actual addition, as far as trying to speed this code up, right? This may depend on the compiler and architecture implemented, but am I on the right track? I have seen some code where each value used in say, 3 additions, came from a f2->sum = p1->p2->p3->x + p1->p2->p3->a + p1->p2->p3->m type of structure, and I am trying to define how bad this is

• Wanting to edit a google maps info bubble

  I have to edit an info bubble on a website to help someone out. The site is already online and i dont have the ftp login details so i cant download the files and use them locally to test it. So im having some issues with inserting a logo on the top of the bubble, like a header. Im also having problems with the code needed to add 'to here' and 'from here' directions at the bottom of the bubble. Everything else is plain text in the middle of these 2 objects, so thats easy. Can anyone help me with the header pic and directions code?

• PHP Installer Script

  I'm looking to create a fully functional installer for a slightly complicated web application using PHP. Basically, you go to URL/setup.php and you are asked a series of questions, and during the process a database is set up and a config file is populated according to the answers given. A good example of this is how Wordpress handles its install procedure, as well as any number of PHP applications. My question to you, oh great internet, is this: This technique is so prevalent that surely not everyone is re-inventing the wheel, is there a place I can go to find a basic walkthrough (not code, just a description) of the technique. Either that or a good book which outlines if not this specific technique, then the fundamentals relevant to this? I can bang out something ugly and probably make it work myself, but if there's a best known method I'd like to find it. Far more important than having a working function is to have a description of what's going on from step to step. I'd like to have the installer, but I really want to learn how it's done.   How can I use StructureMap to resolve to an appropriate implementation of an interface based on a name stored in an attribute? In my project, I have many different kinds of widgets, each descending from IWidget, and each decorated with an attribute specifying the kind of associated element. To illustrate: [Configuration("header")] public class HeaderWidget : IWidget { } [Configuration("linegraph")] public class LineGraphWidget : IWidget { } When processing my (XML) configuration file, I want to obtain an instance of the appropriate concrete class based on the name of the element I'm processing. public IWidget CreateWidget(XElement definition) { var kind = definition.Name.LocalName; var widget = // What goes here? widget.Configure(definition); return widget; } Each definition should result in a different widget being created - I don't need or want the instances to be shared. In the past I've written plenty of code to do this kind of thing manually, including writing a custom "roll-your-own" IoC container for one project. However, one of my goals with this project is to become proficient with StructureMap instead of reinventing the wheel. I think I've already managed to set up automatic scanning of assemblies so that StructureMap knows about all my IWidget implementations: public class WidgetRegistration : Registry { public WidgetRegistration() { Scan( scanner => { scanner.AssembliesFromApplicationBaseDirectory(); scanner.AddAllTypesOf<IWidget>(); }); } } However, this isn't registering the names of my widgets with StructureMap. What do I need to add to make my scenario work? (While I am trying to use StructureMap in this project, an answer showing me how to solve this problem with a different DI/IoC tool would still be valuable.)

If I use JSP Documents (or JSP 2.0) and If I put a TAG without a BODY it is automaticly closed I dont want that. so If I have <div id=....> </div> it is automaticly converted to <div id=.../> How I can stop this ? I am using tomcat is there any configuration about that ? P.S. the reason to want to stop it is because it simple "fuckes" the JQuery stuffs that the designer company are using.

But i would like to use Windows vista SetFileBandwidthReservation api to have the best throughput possible. For example // reserve bandwidth of 200 bytes/sec result = SetFileBandwidthReservation( hFile, 1000, 200, FALSE, &transferSize, &outstandingRequests ); What i dont understand is the lpTransferSize and lpNumOutstandingRequests return parameters. How should i next read the file for this to be the most worth it. Should i do exactly lpNumOutstandingRequests number of request of size lpTransferSize. Or can i do one synchronous request bigger than lpTransferSize.

• PHP fastest method of reading server response

  Hi there, im having some real problems with the lag produced by using fgets to grab the server's response to some batch database calls im making. Im sending through a batch of say, 10,000 calls and ive tracked the lag down to fgets causing the hold up in the speed of my application as the response for each call needs to be grabbed. I have found this thread http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=32806 which explains the problem quite well, but hes reading a file, not a server response so fread could be a bit tricky as i could get part of the next line, and extra stuff which i dont want. Any help much appreciated!
