My Question is, how to design the log function to get the expected result? Thanks!

I am not quite sure how to answer the second question as I don't understand the requirement of this question. So, would anyone give some hints to let me finish this question?     I'm seeing strange results when doing a string.Format( "C" ); E.g. double val = 123456.78; Console.WriteLine( val.ToString( "C" ) ); This prints the thousand separator as 0xa0 rather than a comma (0x2c). I get the same result if I use string.Format( "{0:0,0.00}", 1234567.12D ); Here is the full output R 123ÿ456,78 52333A333233 201230456C78 My regional settings are English (South African) and I'm getting the same result on multiple machines.   • MySql php: check if Row exists

    This is probably an easy thing to do but I'm an amateur and things just aren't working for me. I just want to check and see if a row exists where the $lectureName shows. If a row does exist with the $lectureName somewhere in it, I want the function to return "assigned" if not then it should return "available". Here's what I have. I'm fairly sure its a mess.   • Android: Stopping method to be called twice if already running.

    I'm trying to prevent my application to call the same method twice in the event of a double-click, or if the user presses different buttons quickly, almost at the same time. I have clickable Views, acting as buttons, that call the same method but passing different parameters. This is the call: startTheSearch(context, getState(), what, where); Inside this method I'm creating a new Thread, because it queries a web server for the result: new Thread(new Runnable() { public void run() { progDiag = ProgressDialog.show(ctx, null, "Searching", true); getServerXML(context, what, where, searchIsCustom, mOffset); handler.sendEmptyMessage(0); } }).start(); The problem is that upon two quick clicks, the method is fired twice, two threads are created, and consequently two new activities are created. That makes my app crash.     I need to extract the SAME type of information (e.g. First name, Last Name, Telephone, ...), from numerous different text sources (each with a different format & different order of the variables of interest). I want a function that does the extraction based on a regular expression and returns the result as DESCRIPTIVE variables. In other words, instead of returning each match result as submatch[0], submatch[1], submatch[2], ..., have it do EITHER of the following: 1.) return std::map so that the submatches can be accessed via: submatch["first_name"], submatch["last_name"], submatch["telephone"] 2.) return a variables with the submatches so that the submatches can be accessed via: submatch_first_name, submatch_last_name, submatch_telephone I can write a wrapper class around boost::regex to do #1, but I was hoping there would be a built-in or a more elegant way to do this in C++/Boost/STL/C.

    I'm wondering about what the C++ standard says about code like this: int* ptr = NULL; int& ref = *ptr; int* ptr2 = &ref; In practice the result is that ptr2 is NULL but I'm wondering, is this just an implementation detail or is this well defined in the standard? Under different circumstances a dereferencing of a NULL pointer should result in a crash but here I'm dereferencing it to get a reference which is implemented by the compiler as a pointer so there's really no actual dereferencing of NULL.

    Being unable to reproduce a given result. (either because it's wrong or because I was doing something wrong) I was asking myself if it would be easy to just write a small program which takes all the constants and given number and permutes it with a possible operators (* / - + exp(..)) etc) until the result is found. Permutations of n distinct objects with repetition allowed is n^r. At least as long as r is small I think you should be able to do this. I wonder if anybody did something similar here..

    Ok I'm trying to make search terms bold in this search script I'm making, except I can't get it to work case insensitive. function highlight($term,$target){ $terms = explode(" ", $term); foreach($terms as $term){ $result = (eregi_replace($term, "<strong>$term</strong>", $target)); } return $result; } That is the function I have so far.. It says on PHP.net that eregi_replace is case insensitive matching but it's obviously not working for some reason. (I'm a noob). Any ideas? :D

It should be fairly strait forward but I'm new to SQL and I can't work this one out :S Solution needs to be mysql and or php. I guess there needs to be some sort of temporary tally variable for each item ID, but that seems like it could get messy with too many items.

  • Command prompt in debug mode for Eclipse? (OpenCV + Eclipse + Win7)

    I am a beginner for Eclipse. I now have Eclipse C/C++ IDE with OpenCV library running on Windows 7. So far it works after spending hours trying to get it running. But then I realize that Eclipse does not pop up a command prompt as VS2010 does while debugging. And moreover Eclipse's debug mode is just stuck in there and refuse to output anything. But if the code doesn't involve the OpenCV things it works again. Below is the code I use for testing. It captures images from webcam and output it to the screen. The infinite loop (until you press 'q') makes sure it constantly grabs new inputs from the camera. I browsed through the workspace and run the exe just compiled and it worked flawlessly. So I don't think there's anything wrong in the code (it's an example code anyway In brief, can I just pop up a command prompt window in debug mode?     Been searching for an answer to this for the better part of an hour without much luck. I have two regional tables laid out with the same column names and I can put out a result list for either table based on the following query (swap Table2 for Table1): SELECT Table1.YEAR, FORMAT(COUNT(Table1.id),0) AS Total FROM Table1 WHERE Table1.variable='Y' GROUP BY Table1.YEAR Ideally I'd like to get a result that gives me a total sum of the counts by year, so instead of: | REGION 1 | | REGION 2 | | YEAR | Total | | YEAR | Total | | 2010 | 5 | | 2010 | 1 | | 2009 | 2 | | 2009 | 3 | | | | | 2008 | 4 | I'd have: | MERGED | | YEAR | Total | | 2010 | 6 | | 2009 | 5 | | 2008 | 4 | I've tried a variety of JOINs and other ideas but I think I'm caught up on the SUM and COUNT issue.   • setfsuid() and python 2.5.4

    Hi, I'm trying to use setfsuid() with python 2.5.4 and RHEL 5.4. Since it's not included in the os module, I wrapped it in a C module of my own and installed it as a python extension module using distutils. However when I try to use it I don't get the expected result. setfsuid() returns value indicating success (changing from a superuser), but I can't access files to which only the newly set user should have user access (using open()), indicating that fsuid was not truely changed. I tried to verify setfsuid() worked, by running it consecutively twice with the same user input The result was as if nothing had changed, and on every call the returned value was of old user id different from the new one. I also called getpid() from the module, and from the python script, both returned the same id. so this is not the problem. Just in case it's significant, I should note that I'm doing all of this from within an Apache daemon process (WSGI). Anyone can provide an explanation to that? Thank you

Is there a way to only get the page name or some how strip the page name? Currently I am using the following instruction... string referencepage = HttpContext.Current.Request.UrlReferrer.ToString(); and I get the following result... "http://localhost/MyPage123.aspx?myval1=3333&myval2=4444; I want to get the result back with out any query string parameters and be able to identify the page MyPage123.aspx accurately...     I have a view that contains bank account activity. ACCOUNT BALANCE_ROW AMOUNT SORT_ORDER 111 1 0.00 1 111 0 10.00 2 111 0 -2.50 3 111 1 7.50 4 222 1 100.00 5 222 0 25.00 6 222 1 125.00 7 ACCOUNT = account number BALANCE_ROW = either starting or ending balance would be 1, otherwise 0 AMOUNT = the amount SORT_ORDER = simple order to return the records in the order of start balance, activity, and end balance I need to figure out a way to see if the sum of the non balance_row rows equal the difference between the ending balance and the starting balance. The result for each account (1 for yes, 0 for no) would be simply added to the resulting result set. Example: Account 111 had a starting balance of 0.00. There were two account activity records of 10.00 and -2.5. That resulted in the ending balance of 7.50. I've been playing around with temp tables, but I was not sure if there is a more efficient way of accomplishing this. Thanks for any input you may have!
