  • Per directory ignore in TextMate

    I love idea of TextMate that any directory opened in it is already a project. But sometimes I it would be good to ignore files for certain dir and I don't like idea of creating project file in that dir or remembering how I named project file in some special folder like ~/.tmproject. Is there some sort of plugin or something like this which will allow me to ignore files in dir? Perfect solution would be reading .gitignore file.

  • Apache/Jboss Issue - is this connection timeout?

    We have an application. The architecture is as below 1 load balancer (apache), which redirects to 2 app servers (jboss). The site is working fine and I am able to access it fine. But sometimes, randomly the homepage takes a while (like 30-40 secs) to load. I tried checking the logs but could not figure out why. I used the httptraffic analyzer, fiddler to see the traffic, but it just says the request/response took 30 secs or so. I checked the apache access logs, mod_jk.log.     I'm trying to copy and paste text from a PDF file. However, whenever I paste the original text it is a huge mess of garbled characters.     Is it possible to use SFTP on Linux and restrict a user account to ONE directory such that no other directory listing can be obtained? Yes, I must use SFTP, FTP is only used by people that love getting hacked. For instance I want someone to modify files in /var/www/code/ but I don't want them to be able modify anything else. I don't even want them to see the contents /tmp/. (I will accept a "quick and dirty" solution, as long as it is secure.)

  • Bridged NIC's but only one active

    I've "Bridged" the NIC's in my Server 2003 box but when I do a large file transfer, I see that only one is active at a time. What do I need to do to spread the love across both NIC's? I'm hoping to increase transfer speeds from my Server to my network. PS: I have a D-Link DGS-1016D Switch.

  • NTPD issue - syncs then slowly loses ground

    RHEL 5 workstation. Has been running smoothly for years. I did a 'pup' recently and followed with a nice, cleansing reboot. Afterwards the system had some startup issues: namely MySQL refused to start. It just went "...." for 5-10 minutes before I did another boot and skipped that step (using 'interactive'). This was the only service that didn't wan't to start normally. So now that the system is booted I've found that it doesn't want to stay in sync with the NTP master and after 48 hours is refusing any SSH other than root. NTPD: this service starts normally and gets a lock on 4 servers. Almost immediately it starts to lose ground and now (after 3 days) is almost 40 hours behind. If I stop/start the service it gets the lock, resets the system clock and starts losing ground again. The 'hwclock' is set properly and maintains its time. Login: when I (re)start the ntp server I am able to login normally. I assume this problem is due to losing sync with LDAP. This appears to be verified by LDAP errors in /var/log/messages. Suggestions on where to look? ADDENDA: Tried deleting the 'drift' file.   • How to stop a random ramp in FCGI Processes Killing the server

    So got the below earlier to day... Around that time the logs show a ramp in processes(600) and associated memory (1.2g), cpu usage load average (80) untill the server gave out. Server had to be hard reset by host as there was no ssh or plesk panel access. Fast CGI is configured as below and is setup for one high use site. As I understand it FcgidMaxProcesses 20 should protect against what happen but has not. I've read many forums with differing answers and references to many different fcgi directives, but have found nothing conclusive. Any one got some definitive answers on how to stop this sort of server process ramping and subsequent server failure? If you need more info let me know.   • Problem with my unicorn

    Hi As a little experiment I thinking of converting some video/movies/tv-series into a format that could be playable on my K850, but to be a little bit more generic in this question let's say "mid range Sony Ericsson" phone since they all more or less behave the same and has the same screen resolution (240 x 320). I am looking for command line based tools (for Ubuntu), since I am thinking about writing a "convert and move" script later if it is successful. A lot of the video I have is encoded in mkv/h264, but since that is not supported by the phone I guess that I need to convert it into some mp4/mpeg4 low quality video. After some googling it seems like a good candidate for the job is ffmpeg, but that seems to be a very versatile tool with a lot of magic tricks. Am I on the right track? And if so how do I use ffmpeg to do this? Thanks Johan Update: After plating a little bit with ffmeg I noticed that it only uses 1 of my 4 cores, so the transcoding takes forever. I found a arg called -threads but that did not change much, maybe I got it wrong. I found this in the official manual: If you transfer video clips using another program than Media Go™, we recommend that you select H.264 Baseline profile video, up to QVGA at 30 fps, VBR 384 kbps (max 768 kps) with AAC+ audio at 128 kbps (max 255 kbps), 48 kHz and stereo audio in mp4 file format. So the idea to use H264 seems to be correct.

  • CPU Lockup when loading folder of bookmarks in Firefox

    I am running Firefox 3.6 on WinXPSP3 on a duo Core machine with 4G of memory. I am also running Avast! free anti-virus and ZoneAlarm free firewall, both latest versions. Within the last month, my service provider basically forced me to upgrade to a Docsis 3.0 compliant modem (offered me a deal I couldn't turn down). At that point, I also upgraded to FF3.6. Basically, I am not unhappy with many aspects of this switchover, EXCEPT, when I now load a folder of bookmarks (anywhere from 10 to 38) I get nothing like the load times I experienced a couple of months back. It's taking minutes rather than seconds. And the first bookmark in one of the folders, GMail, rarely loads before timing out. I have used the old trick of powering off the cable modem before my day's work. This used to fix 'load-lag' in the old days. I have switched from my ISP's DNS server to Google, OpenDNS and back. And nothing seems to work currently. It's not my DNS cache. That's been flushed and secondary computers also have the same issue when loading folders. I have watched the CPU usage and loading the folder will send VSMon (ZoneAlarm) usage over 40 percent, AVastSvc (Avast!) over 30 and Firefox will then push the needle to 100. There's a brief burst by SVCHost when the others falter in devouring cycles. Then everything subsides to single digits once the last tab is loaded. The only other nominal nastiness is VSMon ALWAYS hitting 50 percent when ANY program starts downloading content from the internet. If I shutdown ZoneAlarm (and VSMon with it), the same slow loading takes place, but this time System is running 50% plus, again driving the usage to 100 per cent. I have my doubts FF3.6 vs FF3.5 is an issue, since the other computers are still running 3.5 and suffer the same issue. Those computers are on, but inactive, most of the time, being backups. Obviously, when the CPU hits 100, I can't do much of anything in FireFox OR in other programs. Video play through WMPC or VLC is extremely choppy, although it doesn't seem to affect the audio.
