  • iPhone: CMYK Supported Pixel Formats woes

    - by user219393
I am trying to create a image sized 1X1 in CMYK color space. as first step I am creating bitmapContext as CGColorSpaceRef cmykcolorSpace = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceCMYK(); CGContextRef currentcontext = CGBitmapContextCreate(NULL, 1, 1, 8, //bitsPerComponent 4, // bytesPerRow cmykcolorSpace, kCGImageAlphaNone ); No matter what the combination for bitsPerComponent(8,16 or 32) for supported CMYK, there's always same error Unsupported pixel description - 4 components, 8 bits-per-component, 32 bits-per-pixel Any help is appreicated. These are the supported pixel formats 32 bpp, 8 bpc, kCGImageAlphaNone 64 bpp, 16 bpc, kCGImageAlphaNone 128 bpp, 32 bpc, kCGImageAlphaNone | kCGBitmapFloatComponents

  • iPhone - Is it ok to override UITableViewCell setSelected:animated

    - by Brian
I am drawing custom UITableViewCells. My cells are opaque and are completely drawn in the drawRect of the cell to help with performance. I want to handle the look of a selected cell myself. If I don't, then the contents of my cell is covered up by the selectedBackgroundView that is added. Is it common or acceptable to override the setSelected:animated method of my cell so this is done properly. I guess if I did that, then I would not call the super's setSelected method since I would be handling how the cell will show that its selected. I would also have to set the selected property of the cell. Any help would be great. Thanks.

  • How to know when StatusBar size changed (iPhone)

    - by JOM
I have UITabBarController with 2 tabs. One resizes just fine, when StatusBar size changes (emulator "Toggle In-Call Status Bar" menu item). The other one doesn't. The problematic tab item contains a static view, which dynamically loads one or another view depending on certain things. While getting this setup working I discovered that main tab view did NOT automagically send e.g. viewWillAppear and viewWillDisappear messages to my dynamic subviews. Apple docs explained this was because dynamically added views were not recognized by the system. @interface MyTabViewController : UIViewController { UIView *mainView; FirstViewController *aController; SecondViewController *bController; } ... if (index == 0) { self.aController = [[FirstViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FirstViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.mainView addSubview:aController.view]; [self.aController viewWillAppear:YES]; } How can I get StatusBar size changed event into my dynamic subviews? The "didChangeStatusBarFrame" doesn't work, as documented elsewhere.

  • Install webapp to homescreen on iPhone?

    - by Stefan Kendall
How do I go about allowing my webapp to be installed as an icon on a user's homescreen? Is the data cached locally, so that the webapp can be run when the user is outside of 3G? I did a quick google, but my search terms were lacking. I noticed that Google Buzz allowed me to install locally, and I'm wondering what the process is for creating web apps, and if they get special treatment (full caching/running offline).

  • handleOpenURL not called using a custom url schema in iPhone OS

    - by favo
Hi, I have successfuly added my own url schemes to my App. The App correctly launches using the schemes. Now I want to handle the incoming data but the delegate is not called. It is an universal app and I have added the following function to both AppDelegates: - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application handleOpenURL:(NSURL *)url { if (!url) { return NO; } NSString *URLString = [url absoluteString]; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"test message", nil) message:URLString delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:nil otherButtonTitles:@"OK", nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; return YES; } I am testing with a schema like: myapp://appalarm.com …and would expect to be appalarm.com in the URLString What is wrong with it? Thanks for your responses!

  • iPhone SQLite Password Field Encryption

    - by Louis Russell
Good Afternoon Guys and Girls, Hopefully this will be a quick and easy question. I am building an App that requires the user to input their login details for an online service that it links to. Multiple login details can be added and saved as the user may have several accounts that they would like to switch between. These details will be stored in an SQLite database and will contain their passwords. Now the questions are: 1: Should these passwords be encrypted in the database? My instinct would say yes but then I do not know how secure the device and system is and if this is necessary. 2: If they should be encrypted what should I use? I think encrypting the whole database file sounds a bit over-kill so should I just encrypt the password before saving it to the database? If this is case what could I use to achieve this? I have found reference to a "crypt(3)" but am having trouble finding much about it or how to implement it. I eagerly await your replies!

  • Variable Scope Problem, iPhone

    - by Stumf
Hello all, I need some help here so I will do my best to explain. I have worked on this all day and had no success (just learning!) I have: NSArray *getValue(NSString *iosearch) { ................................. ................................... \\ More code here } - (NSString *) serialnumber { NSArray *results = getValue(@"serial-number"); if (results) return [results objectAtIndex:0]; return nil; } - (NSString *) backlightlevel { NSArray *results = getValue(@"backlight-level"); if (results) return [results objectAtIndex:0]; return nil; } I have a tableView set up and want to display my array in it so I then have: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {............. ......................................................... cell.text = [results objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; // error results undeclared here return cell; } The problem is I get results undeclared as indicated above. I also can't figure how I could get serialnumber and backlightlevel to display on the click of a button or even at load. My attempts have thrown back errors like error: 'serialnumber' undeclared (first use in this function) and warnings like warning: 'return' with a value, in function returning void. Sorry for the long question! Many thanks, Stuart

  • iPhone contacts app styled indexed table view implementation

    - by KSH
My Requirement: I have this straight forward requirement of listing names of people in alphabetical order in a Indexed table view with index titles being the starting letter of alphabets (additionally a search icon at the top and # to display misc values which start with a number and other special characters). What I have done so far: 1. I am using core data for storage and "last_name" is modelled as a String property in the Contacts entity 2.I am using a NSFetchedResultsController to display the sorted indexed table view. Issues accomplishing my requirement: 1. First up, I couldn't get the section index titles to be the first letter of alphabets. Dave's suggestion in the following post, helped me achieve the same: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1112521/nsfetchedresultscontroller-with-sections-created-by-first-letter-of-a-string The only issue I encountered with Dave' suggestion is that I couldn't get the misc named grouped under "#" index. What I have tried: 1. I tried adding a custom compare method to NSString (category) to check how the comparison and section is made but that custom method doesn't get called when specified in the NSSortDescriptor selector. Here is some code: `@interface NSString (SortString) -(NSComparisonResult) customCompare: (NSString*) aStirng; @end @implementation NSString (SortString) -(NSComparisonResult) customCompare:(NSString *)aString { NSLog(@"Custom compare called to compare : %@ and %@",self,aString); return [self caseInsensitiveCompare:aString]; } @end` Code to fetch data: `NSArray *sortDescriptors = [NSArray arrayWithObject:[[[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"last_name" ascending:YES selector:@selector(customCompare:)] autorelease]]; [fetchRequest setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; fetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:@"lastNameInitial" cacheName:@"MyCache"];` Can you let me know what I am missing and how the requirement can be accomplished ?

  • iPhone sdk Cocoa Touch - Pass touches down from parent UIView to child UIScrollview

    - by Joe
I have a UIView inside my xib in IB and inside that is a UIScrollview that is a small 80x80 square and dynamically loaded with 8 or so 80 x 80 thumbnail images. The UIScrollview is not clipping the images so that they extend out either side so you can swipe left and right to scroll a chosen image into the the centre, paging is on so they snap ti each image. I have researched and found this is the best and possibly only way to do this. The UIScrollview sits in a 'container' UIView for one reason, it is there to receive the touches/swipes and pass them down to it's child the UIScrollview as otherwise all touches would have to start in the small 80x80 UIScrollview area and I wan them to be anywhere along the row of images. I have seen some sample code somewhere for doing this but just can not implement it. Treat me as a noob, starting from beginning to end, how should the UIView and UIScrollview be set up in IB to allow any touches to be passed, and what code should I put into where? The UIView is set up as scroll_container and the child UIScrollview is char_scroll At the moment I have got it all working except for the touches being passed from the parent to the child, and at the moment the touches have to always start inside the UIScrollview (tiny 80x80 box in centre) when I want to be able to swipe left or right in the long 480X80 horizontal parent UIView and have this still scroll the child UIScrollview. Hope you can help and understand what I mean!

  • iphone OCMockObject and unit-testing a class that inherits from NSURLConnection

    - by Justin Galzic
I want to unit test the custom init method of a class that inherits from NSURLConnection -- how would I do this if the init of my testable class invokes NSURLConnection's initWithRequest? I'm using OCMock and normally, I can mock objects that are contained within my test class. For this inheritance scenario, what's the best approach to do this? - (void)testInit { id urlRequest = [OCMockObject mockForClass:[NSURLRequest class]]; MyURLConnectionWrapper *conn = [[MyURLConnectionWrapper alloc] initWithRequest:urlRequest delegate:self someData:extraneousData]; } My class is implemented like this: @interface MyURLConnectionWrapper : NSURLConnection { } - (id)initWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request delegate:(id)delegate someData:(NSString *)fooData @end @implementation MyURLConnectionWrapper - (id)initWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request delegate:(id)delegate someData:(NSString *)fooData { if (self = [super initWithRequest:request delegate:delegate]) { // do some additional work here } return self; } Here's the error I get: OCMockObject[NSURLRequest]: unexpected method invoked: _CFURLRequest

  • iPhone: Prevent View from Rotation

    - by Matthias
Hi, I use a UITabBarController with 4 views. The first of those 4 views should be able to rotate, the other three not. And now the problem is, when having a tab bar controller you have to set all used views to rotatable (i.e. returning TRUE in shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation). So, my question is now, can I prevent the three views from rotation even though the shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation method returns TRUE? Thanks for your help. Regards Matthias

  • iPhone JSON Object

    - by Cosizzle
    Hello, I'm trying to create a application that will retrieve JSON data from an HTTP request, send it to a the application main controller as a JSON object then from there do further processing with it. Where I'm stick is actually creating a class that will serve as a JSON class in which will take a URL, grab the data, and return that object. Alone, im able to make this class work, however I can not get the class to store the object for my main controller to retrieve it. Because im fairly new to Objective-C itself, my thoughts are that im messing up within my init call: -initWithURL:(NSString *) value { responseData = [[NSMutableData data] retain]; NSString *theURL = value; NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:theURL]]; [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self]; return self; } The processing of the JSON object takes place here: - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [connection release]; NSString *responseString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:responseData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; [responseData release]; NSError *jsonError; SBJSON *json = [[SBJSON new] autorelease]; NSDictionary *parsedJSON = [json objectWithString:responseString error:&jsonError]; // NSArray object. listings = [parsedJSON objectForKey:@"posts"]; NSEnumerator *enumerator = [listings objectEnumerator]; NSDictionary* item; // to prove that it does work. while (item = (NSDictionary*)[enumerator nextObject]) { NSLog(@"posts:id = %@", [item objectForKey:@"id"]); NSLog(@"posts:address = %@", [item objectForKey:@"address"]); NSLog(@"posts:lat = %@", [item objectForKey:@"lat"]); NSLog(@"posts:lng = %@", [item objectForKey:@"lng"]); } [responseString release]; } Now when calling the object within the main controller I have this bit of code in the viewDidLoad method call: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; JSON_model *jsonObj = [[JSON_model alloc] initWithURL:@"http://localhost/json/faith_json.php?user=1&format=json"]; NSEnumerator *enumerator = [[jsonObj listings] objectEnumerator]; NSDictionary* item; // while (item = (NSDictionary*)[enumerator nextObject]) { NSLog(@"posts:id = %@", [item objectForKey:@"id"]); NSLog(@"posts:address = %@", [item objectForKey:@"address"]); NSLog(@"posts:lat = %@", [item objectForKey:@"lat"]); NSLog(@"posts:lng = %@", [item objectForKey:@"lng"]); } }

  • parsing HTML on the iPhone

Can anyone recommend a C or Objective-C library for HTML parsing? It needs to handle messy HTML code that won't quite validate. Does such a library exist, or am I better off just trying to use regular expressions?

I know this won't be easy for someone like me who doesn't have a technical background but I have made up my mind and I am committed to learning to code. What would you recommend to someone who wants to to start learning mobile application development from scratch? What books or college courses/certificates are required?

  • iPhone UIView Animation Disables UIButton Subview

    - by bensnider
So I've got a problem with buttons and animations. Basically, I'm animating a view using the UIView animations while also trying to listen for taps on the button inside the view. The view is just as large as the button, and the view is actually a subclass of UIImageView with an image below the button. The view is a subview of a container view placed in Interface Builder with user interaction enabled and clipping enabled. All the animation and button handling is done in this UIImageView subclass, while the startFloating message is sent from a separate class as needed. If I do no animation, the buttonTapped: message gets sent correctly, but during the animation it does not get sent. I've also tried implementing the touchesEnded method, and the same behavior occurs. UIImageView subclass init (I have the button filled with a color so I can see the frame gets set properly, which it does): - (id)initWithImage:(UIImage *)image { self = [super initWithImage:image]; if (self != nil) { // ...stuffs UIButton *tapBtn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; tapBtn.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, self.frame.size.width, self.frame.size.height); [tapBtn addTarget:self action:@selector(buttonTapped:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; tapBtn.backgroundColor = [UIColor cyanColor]; [self addSubview:tapBtn]; self.userInteractionEnabled = YES; } return self; } Animation method that starts the animation (if I don't call this the button works correctly): - (void)startFloating { [UIView beginAnimations:@"floating" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveLinear]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:10.0f]; self.frame = CGRectMake(self.frame.origin.x, -self.frame.size.height, self.frame.size.width, self.frame.size.height); [UIView commitAnimations]; } So, to be clear: Using the UIView animation effectively disables the button. Disabling the animation causes the button to work. The button is correctly sized and positioned on screen, and moves along with the view correctly.

I need to be able to say "IF currentlocation IS EQUAL TO (any GPS position from a list ) THEN do something My code at the moment is : CLLocationCoordinate2D bonusOne; bonusOne.latitude = 37.331689; bonusOne.longitude = -122.030731; Which is the simulators GPS location at Infinite Loop CLLocation *loc1 = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:bonusOne.latitude longitude:bonusOne.longitude]; double distance = [loc1 getDistanceFrom:newLocation]; if(distance <= 10000000) { Then do something } Any number under 10000000 and it assumes that there is no match. Any ideas ? Thanks is advance.

  • C++ from SpeakHere in iPhone app

    - by niklassaers
Hi guys, I've made a template app where I've grabbed the recording part of the SpeakHere example and removed the file handling part, but I'm struggeling to get the C++ part of the app working right. As soon as it enters the C++ class, it gets syntax errors. If I don't import the header files from C++ (and then of course don't use the code) into my Objective C classes, all works fine. I cannot see the difference between how I'm doing it and the example is doing it. Can you see the difference? I've posted the entire code here: http://github.com/niklassaers/testFFT The build errors I get are: testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:91:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:91: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'CAStreamBasicDescription' testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:298:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:298: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '<' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:299:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:299: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '==' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:301:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:301: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '!=' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:302:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:302: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '<=' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:303:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:303: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '>=' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:304:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:304: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '>' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:307:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:307: error: expected ';', ',' or ')' before '&' token testFFT/CAXException.h:65:0 testFFT/CAXException.h:65: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'CAX4CCString' testFFT/CAXException.h:87:0 testFFT/CAXException.h:87: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'CAXException' testFFT/AQRecorder.h:59:0 testFFT/AQRecorder.h:59: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'AQRecorder' testFFT/RecorderLink.h:57:0 testFFT/RecorderLink.h:57: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'AQRecorder' testFFT/RecorderLink.h:62:0 testFFT/RecorderLink.h:62: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'AQRecorder' Any idea what's going on here?
