  • jQuery: How to find elements *without* a class set

    Hey jQuery clever peeps, Why does this fail... $( 'div.contactAperson input' ).not( 'input.hadFocus' ).focus(function() { $(this).attr('value', '' ); }); ...it's meant to sniff out input's that have not got the class .hadFocus and then when one of that subset receives focus it should zap the value to null. Right now, input values are always getting zapped -- the test .not( 'input.hadFocus' ) is failing to stop execution. Btw, preceding the above code is the following code, which is working fine: $( 'div.contactAperson input' ).focus(function() { $( this ).addClass( 'hadFocus' ); }); Thanks for any cleverness - cheers, -Alan

  • reorder XML elements or set an explicit template with XSLT

    I tried the solution in my previous question (flattening XML to load via SSIS package), however this isn't working. I now know what I need to do, however I need some guidance on how to do it. So say I have the following XML structure: <person id="1"> <name>John</name> <surname>Smith</surname> <age>25</age> <comment> <comment_id>1</comment_id> <comment_text>Hello</comment_text> </comment> <comment> <comment_id>2</comment_id> <comment_text>Hello again!</comment_text> </comment> <somethingelse> <id>1</id> </somethingelse> <comment> <comment_id>3</comment_id> <comment_text>Third Item</comment_text> </comment> </person> <person id="2"> <name>John</name> <surname>Smith</surname> <age>25</age> <somethingelse> <id>1</id> </somethingelse> </person> ... ... If I am to load this into a SSIS package, as an XML source, what I will essentially get is a table created for each element, as opposed to get a structured table output such as person table (name, surname, age) somethingelse table (id) comment table (comment_id, comment_text) What I end up getting is: person table (person_Id <-- internal SSIS id) name table surname table age table person_name table person_surname table person_comment_comment_id table etc... What I found was that if each element and all inner elements are not in the same format and consistency, i will get the above anomaly which makes it rather complex especially if I am dealing with 80 - 100+ columns. Unfortunately I have no way of modifying the system (Lotus Notes) that produces these reports, so I was wondering whether I may be able to explicitly have an XSLT template that will be able to align each person sub elements (and the sub collection elements such as comments ? Unless there is a quicker way to realign all inner elements. Seems that SSIS XML source requires a very consistent XML file in the sense of: if the name element is in position 1, then all subsequent name elements within person parent have to be in position 1. SSIS seems to pickup the inconsistencies if there are certain elements missing from one parent to another, however, if their ordering is not right (A, B, C)(A, B, C)(A,C,B), it will chuck a massive fuss!     I am currently achieving the desired outcome with two PHP statements: $thisBlarg = $xmlResource->xpath('//blarg[@ID='.$someBlargID.']'); echo $thisBlarg[0]->name; But, not wanting to settle for second best, I'd really prefer this to be one statement, but PHP doesn't like this: echo $xmlResource->xpath('//blarg[@ID='.$someBlargID.']')[0]->name; And for good reason. But I can't find a way to force an xpath query to return the result directly. Any suggestions?

    How can I make my JTable show specific stuff for each column? Can I use an Object for more than one column?     i have a UITextView object which i have created in interface builder with it's hidden property unmarked.Now i want this textView to be invisible when my application launches and first view appears.Further i want it to be displayed when a particular method is called.Now this is what i have written in view did load [mTextView setHidden:YES]; self.mTextView=[[UITextView alloc] init]; it hides the textView ats the first view appears but when my desired method is called and i write [mTextView setHidden:NO]; it does not show it again.. Is it like we cant change the appearance of a textView once it is assigned because after assigning memory as self.mTextView=[[UITextView alloc] init]; and then writing [mTextView setHidden:YES]; it does not hide textView in viwDidLoad either.....

Is it possible to write the same query for O-R database without explicitly using full outer join? For normal inner join it simple, I just use dot notation together with ref/deref. I'm interested in this in general so let's say the relational query is: select a.attr, b.attr from a full outer join b on (a.fk = b.pk); I want to know if it's a good idea to do it this way: select a.attr, b.attr from a_obj a full outer join b_obj b on (a.b_ref = ref(b));

I've seen that people use the async library to solve this but I was wondering if there was any other way for me to do it without needing more modules... Thanks!

  • Set service dependencies after install

    I have an application that runs as a Windows service. It stores various things settings in a database that are looked up when the service starts. I built the service to support various types of databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc). Often times end users choose to configure the software to use SQL Server (they can simply modify a config file with the connection string and restart the service). The problem is that when their machine boots up, often times SQL Server is started after my service so my service errors out on start up because it can't connect to the database. I know that I can specify dependencies for my service to help guide the Windows service manager to start the appropriate services before mine. However, I don't know what services to depend upon at install time (when my service is registered) since the user can change databases later on. So my question is: is there a way for the user to manually indicate the service dependencies based on the database that they are using? If not, what is the proper design approach that I should be taking? I've thought about trying to do something like wait 30 seconds after my service starts up before connecting to the database but this seems really flaky for various reasons. I've also considered trying to "lazily" connect to the database; the problem is that I need a connection immediately upon start up since the database contains various pieces of vital info that my service needs when it first starts. Any ideas?

    I want to use an Enum value for the types of VaryByCustom parameters I will support, is it possible to do this? I tried setting it in the page itself <%@ OutputCache Duration="600" VaryByParam="none" VaryByCustom='<%=VaryByCustomType.IsAuthenticated.ToString(); %>' %> But this returned the entire literal string "<%=VaryByCustomType.IsAuthenticated.ToString(); %>" inside my global.asax is there any way to do this either on the page itself or from the codebehind? Or is this just something I have to accept is purely magic strings and nothing I can do to add type safety to it?

  • Statistical analysis on large data set to be published on the web

    I have a non-computer related data logger, that collects data from the field. This data is stored as text files, and I manually lump the files together and organize them. The current format is through a csv file per year per logger. Each file is around 4,000,000 lines x 7 loggers x 5 years = a lot of data. some of the data is organized as bins item_type, item_class, item_dimension_class, and other data is more unique, such as item_weight, item_color, date_collected, and so on ... Currently, I do statistical analysis on the data using a python/numpy/matplotlib program I wrote. It works fine, but the problem is, I'm the only one who can use it, since it and the data live on my computer. I'd like to publish the data on the web using a postgres db; however, I need to find or implement a statistical tool that'll take a large postgres table, and return statistical results within an adequate time frame. I'm not familiar with python for the web; however, I'm proficient with PHP on the web side, and python on the offline side. users should be allowed to create their own histograms, data analysis. For example, a user can search for all items that are blue shipped between week x and week y, while another user can search for sort the weight distribution of all items by hour for all year long. I was thinking of creating and indexing my own statistical tools, or automate the process somehow to emulate most queries. This seemed inefficient. I'm looking forward to hearing your ideas Thanks

    I have built a a higcharts charts and I am displaying them one at a time on mouseover. The jquery creates a floting div (depending on the cursor) with a border line 1px solid black and then the highchart method is being called to draw the chart. The thing is that highcharts exceed and left and bottom border is not shown. I tired 'margin' : chart: { renderTo: 'graph', defaultSeriesType: 'line', zoomType: 'x', margin: [ 10, 10, 10, 10] }, and still it does the same thing.

  • How to set the value of a wx.combobox by posting an event

    The code below demonstrates the problem I am running into. I am creating a wx.ComboBox and trying to mimic it's functionality for testing purposes by posting a wxEVT_COMMAND_COMBOBOX_SELECTED event... this event strangely works fine for wx.Choice, but it doesn't do anything to the ComboBox. There doesn't appear to be a different event that I can post to the combobox, but maybe I'm missing something.   • Android - Issue with View when set above another View while scrolling

    I've created a ScrollView with a RelativeLayout inside of it. I have a TextView aligned at the bottom of the RelativeLayout using layout_alignParentBottom="true" and a ImageView above the TextView using "layout_above". The layout works perfect when I am on a device where the display is large enough to not have to scroll up and down. When I test it on devices where you need to scroll to see the ImageView and TextView the ImageView doesn't line up above the TextView. Actually I haven't a clue where it goes because I can't see it anywhere. It might be behind the TextView. This also happens when I'm editing an EditText with the Soft Keyboard up, which causes the RelativeLayout to scroll. Anyone knows what's going on here?

I tried getting the selected option from the "master" combo using function getSelectedArea() { $$('#areacont1 option').find(function(ele){return !!ele.selected}) } which returns null And setting the second combo using var c2ROptions = $$('select#areacont2 option') c2ROptions[getSelectedArea()].selected = true That obviously doesn't work because the function returns null.
