    Hello I have MSSQL 2008 installed on my local PC, and my java application needs to connect to a mssql database. I am a new to MSSQL and i would like get some help on creating user login for my java application and getting connection via jdbc. So far i tried to create a user login for my app and used following connection string, but i doest work at all.   • How to access USB ports in java

    Hi I'm trying to write a java application that accesses the usb ports to some read and writes to a device connected through usb. The problem I face is that I don't know what exactly to use in java to do such a thing. I searched online a found something called jusb but all the post seem fairly old. Currently I'm using the RXTX libraries but I sometimes run into some sync error. When I use C# to do the equivalent it requires far less code and I don't face any of the same sync error. My question is there anything built into the latest version of the JRE I can use to access the usb ports that is just as easy as the equivalent C# code? Sorry if the question isn't too clear, I'm fairly noob with coding usb IO.

Which JPA implementation is smallest in size (as I want to have my application's size as small as possible)? Q2. How to find the value of the <provider> tag in the persistence.xml file. I know that its value is vendor scpecific but I couldn't find the value for the JPA implementation downloaded from here.

  • Java output file doesnt recognise \n as linebreak

    for a Java project for a University Class I have a method that saves ASCII images as a uniline string and another method called toString rebuilds this ASCII image and returns as a string. When I run my program on the Eclipse my output looks on console alright and multiline, and there are line breaks where they should be. But when I run it with the command line with a redirected outputfile java myprogram < input output the text in the output is uniline without line breaks Here is the code of the method public String toString(){ String output = ""; for(int i=0; i<height; i++){ output=output+image.substring(i*width, i*width+width)+"\n"; } return output; } What should I do so I can get a multiline output text file

    Hi! I'm purposely targeting Java OS 1.4.2 I'm trying to use an iterator combined with apache's POI to read an excel spreadsheet. The code runs perfectly in java 1.5, but in the 1.4.2 version I get the error listed in the question subject. the code is: Iterator myIter = null; it breaks on that line of code, which is clearly at the beginning of the application. I dont understand what needs to be done to correct this issue. Please let me know if you have any insight!

  • Adobe Flex + Air or Java + JavaFX 2.0?

    Hey guys! I'm looking into a cloud-computing related career. I've recently graduated from school and have been meaning to study a new programming language. From what I understand, I need to get into RIA development for this. Flex and Java have certainly caught my attention, but I am torn as to whether focus on Flex then continue with Air, or study Java first and see how JavaFX 2.0 pans out, and then continue with Flex thereafter. I've no previous experience with either, and I'm sort of giving myself something like two years or so to learn. What do guys think? Thanks for the feedback! :)

    I am trying to create executable under windows platform for Java program using JNI ,C/C++ and invocation API, I have already created jar file for my program which includes all dependencies. I want to embed it in exe file, I was successful in running simple main class(present in file system) using JNI invocation API, I am planning to add jar file as resource in C/C++ program. But I don't know how do I run that jar file , One option is create temporary jar file on file system and run it using java, But I do not want to expose my jar file to everyone for security reasons, How can I run serialized jar file on the fly using JNI ?

  • Direct comparator in Java out of the box

    I have a method which needs a Comparator for one of its parameters. I would like to pass a Comparator which does a normal comparison and a reverse comparator which does in reverse. java.util.Collections provides a reverseOrder() this is good for the reverse comparison, but I could not find any normal Comparator. The only solution what came into my mind is Collections.reverseOrder(Collections.reverseOrder()). but I don't like it because the double method calling inside. Of course I could write a NormalComparator like this: public class NormalComparator<T extends Comparable> implements Comparator<T> { public int compare(T o1, T o2) { return o1.compareTo(o2); } } But I'm really surprised that Java doesn't have a solution for this out of the box.

  • suggestions for someone studying for java certification

    I have been working with java (J2EE) for about 4 years. I have been putting off the certification for a while now. I bought the exam last year and still have not taken the exam. it expires in june so I am going to give it a shot. I know certifications don't get jobs but interviews but where I work...certification will put a 'stamp' on my resume and I think it'll popout in the eyes of the management. Anyways, I am going for JAVA 6. Can someone suggest some good mock exams that are kind of new and relevant. I came across this link but most of these exams are fairly old. I am using kathy Sierra's book for studying. Any other resources/pointers?

I made one page for user authentication and using .net wcf service to authenticate user. i am able to send data on .net service by HttpGet method but not able to get response back on java page. I have tested it on fiddler with this url its working fine and returning response code 200, but not getting response code by java code. Following code i am using.     In my opinion WWW will sooner or later come to full-blown AJAX web-sites, so that we wouldn't have page reloads every time you click somewhere. Now I want you to ask this. What tools and frameworks can one use to make a Java Web-application running on Tomcat have AJAX functionality like "in-place, with no page reloading" table sorting by clicking on its column header, multi-tabs that enable opening at once the new screen to the user without reloading a page, saving data in the database without reloading a page, and other similar things that we do not usually see on web pages. That's all should probably be based on AJAX. But how to integrate this AJAX functionality with existing java web-frameworks, let's say Spring MVC? Or maybe there are other frameworks that better suit such needs but that can be integrated with core Spring?
