• How to Detect a Right Click on Taskbar in WPF

  I've got a WPF application in C# that starts off with a loading dialog. As expected, a button for the app shows up in the Windows taskbar. I would like to detect right-clicks that might be done to that button. Ultimately, I hope to disable the right-click or simply have the loading dialog regain focus. I've seen that some people use custom libraries and packages (interop, for example) to achieve some Win32 functionality, but I'd personally like to avoid this. Furthermore, these libraries/packages appear to be specific to Windows Forms; I've not seen anything for WPF. Is it impossible to manipulate the taskbar's right-click in WPF?

• CF - Mobile Managed Gestures

  Im looking for a nice demo/sample using Windows Mobile Managed Gestures. I have a main view that contains a single panel. Every item in the panel is another panel containing pictureBox and a label. I would like to implement scrooling (finger flicking) to avoid using thin scroolers. Are the Windows Mobile Managed Gestures the right solution to get this working, if so can some one provide me with a begginers demo? I downloaded the source code from http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/gestureswm/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=3438 but i would need a simple example using this source. Also a question ... does this work only on 6.5? Even if i got this working is there a way to support this in 6.0 ? thanx!

• How can I safely raise events in an AsyncCallback?

  I'm writing a wrapper class around a TcpClient which raises an event when data arrives. I'm using BeginRead and EndRead, but when the parent form handles the event, it's not running on the UI thread. I do I need to use delegates and pass the context into the callback? • Longlasting Macport installation

  Hi, I use Macports on Mac OSX to install some software. But there are somethings that I find very strange. For instance, yesterday I installed some app. and the it needed to get gcc43 and compile completely from source! It took a lot of time, although now everything works right. I understand that compilation of everything in the gentoo spirit is eomthing nice, but in the Mac case, not necessary. There are ony sole hardware variations, so it will be easier to get the binaries. I wonder if Macporst can be forced to get the binaries when available and therefore avoid these time consuming compilations. Thanks

• Use WM_COPYDATA to send data between processes

  I wish to send text between processes. I have found lots of examples of this but none that I can get working. Here is what I have so far: for the sending part: COPYDATASTRUCT CDS; CDS.dwData = 1; CDS.cbData = 8; CDS.lpData = NULL; SendMessage(hwnd, WM_COPYDATA , (WPARAM)hwnd, (LPARAM) (LPVOID) &CDS); the receiving part: case WM_COPYDATA: COPYDATASTRUCT* cds = (COPYDATASTRUCT*) lParam; I dont know how to construct the COPYDATASTRUCT, I have just put something in that seems to work. When debugging the WM_COPYDATA case is executed, but again I dont know what to do with the COPYDATASTRUCT. I would like to send text between the two processes. As you can probably tell I am just starting out, I am using GNU GCC Compiler in Code::Blocks, I am trying to avoid MFC and dependencies.

This makes me suspect that when I assign a new value to subset_list, the old one is overwritten. If that is the problem, how do I avoid it? If not, what else am I doing wrong? UPDATE: I changed something else, and I'm almost entirely certain that this is fixed.

  Hi, I've a recurrent problem, I don't find an elegant solution to avoid the resource cleaning code duplication: resource allocation: try { f() } catch (...) { resource cleaning code; throw; } resource cleaning code; return rc; So, I know I can do a temporary class with cleaning up destructor, but I don't really like it because it breaks the code flow and I need to give the class the reference to the all stack vars to cleanup, the same problem with a function, and I don't figure out how does not exists an elegant solution to this recurring problem.

• Debug in Eclipse - ClassNotFoundException

  Hi all, when i debug in Eclipse a simple console application, I get a lot of ClassNotFoundException lines in the debug Window. It is not an error, somewhat lower in another pane I get "Source not found.". I understand that it is because the source code of the required class is not available, buI would like to skip over these lines... I have to press a lot of times the "step over" or "step out" button to get out of these states. What can I do in order to avoid these useless lines at all? Thanks

  So let me preface this by saying that I'm not an SQL wizard by any means. What I want to do is simple as a concept, but has presented me with a small challenge when trying to minimize the amount of database queries I'm performing. Let's say I have a table of departments. Within each department is a list of employees. What is the most efficient way of listing all the departments and which employees are in each department. So for example if I have a department table with: id name 1 sales 2 marketing And a people table with: id department_id name 1 1 Tom 2 1 Bill 3 2 Jessica 4 1 Rachel 5 2 John What is the best way list all departments and all employees for each department like so: Sales Tom Bill Rachel Marketing Jessica John Pretend both tables are actually massive. (I want to avoid getting a list of departments, and then looping through the result and doing an individual query for each department). Think similarly of selecting the statuses/comments in a Facebook-like system, when statuses and comments are stored in separate tables.

• Is the UIDatePicker really the best iPhone UI mechanism for selecting dates?

  Hello! I'm diving into iPhone/iPad development and I'm trying to find an elegant mechanism for allowing the user to select dates. It seems to me that a calendar control would be the best way to go, but I don't see one in anywhere in the SDK. All all I see is this overblown, the-price-is-right-looking DatePicker control. Is this the only control that comes with UIKit for allowing the user to select dates? What about the calendar that the Notes app uses? Also, I should note I'm really trying to avoid using 3rd party code frameworks that have little or no documentation, because I'm new to all this and sufficient documentation is a must at this point.   I need a collection data-structure that can do the following: Be sorted Allow me to quickly pop values off the front and back of the list Remain sorted after I insert a new value Allow a user-specified comparison function, as I will be storing tuples and want to sort on a particular value Thread-safety is not required Optionally allow efficient haskey() lookups (I'm happy to maintain a separate hash-table for this though) My thoughts at this stage are that I need a priority queue and a hash table, although I don't know if I can quickly pop values off both ends of a priority queue. I'm interested in performance for a moderate number of items (I would estimate less than 200,000). Another possibility is simply maintaining an OrderedDictionary and doing an insertion sort it every-time I add more data to it. Furthermore, are there any particular implementations in Python. I would really like to avoid writing this code myself.

  I'm new to funcctional programming and have some questions regarding coding style and debugging. I'm under the impression that one should avoid storing results from funcction calls in a temp variable and then return that variable e.g. let someFunc foo = let result = match foo with | x -> ... | y -> ... result And instead do it like this (I might be way off?): let someFunc foo = match foo with | x -> ... | y -> ... Which works fine from a functionallity perspective, but it makes it way harder to debug. I have no way to examine the result if the right hand side of - does some funky stuff. So how should I deal with this kind of scenarios?

  I have a similar problem to that mentioned here. However, mine is in TFS 2008. I get the following warning when trying to add a set-up project to an existing solution (either just create the set-up project or “add to source control”). The project that you are attempting to add to source control may cause other source control users to have difficulty opening this solution or getting newer versions of it. To avoid this problem, add the project from a location below the binding root of the other source controlled projects in the solution Continue / Cancel As with the question above, I think my folder structure is at fault. However, the current folder structure is as follows: Solution Main Project My guess is that, for some reason it’s trying to add the set-up project directly into the solution folder. So, is there a way to validate where it’s trying to add this without selecting “Continue” above? Alternatively, is there a way to force the set-up project to create in its own folder?

• [MFC] Combining 2 memory DCs ?

  I'm writing a control where there's a lot of custom drawing going through. Because of this I need to trim down the amount of "screen writes" that go about. Currently there is only one memory DC that is used to write to screen so as to avoid flicker when the control is redrawn. I want to know if it is a possiblity to use 2 or more memory DCs to write updates independently and then bitblt them to screen.   I have a website where local bands can have a profile page, I'm implementing an upload system so that they can add songs to their profile. I want to make sure that clever visitors to my website cannot download their songs. I was thinking about uploading them to above the folder for my domain so that they cannot be accessed directly. Is this a good idea and/or possible? If not, what do you suggest I do to try and avoid users downloading songs. I'm already using a flash player to try and prevent downloads.

• SSIS Data Flow Task Excel Source

  Hi, I have a data flow task set up in SSIS. The source is from an Excel source not an SQL DB. The problem i seem to get is that, the package is importing empty rows. My data has data in 555200 rows, but however when importing the SSIS package imports over 900,000 rows. The extra rows are imported even though the other empty. When i then download this table into excel there are empty rows in between the data. Is there anyway i can avoid this? Thanks Gerard

• problem with pagestate when two links in aspx page

  I have two links in my aspx page. one link "A" when i click it ...it is downloading some document when i click it other link "B" when I click it ....it redirects me to some other page. Both links triggers function from code behind. Both links works fine when i first come onto page but when i click A it shows me message to download it "open" "save" "cancel" problem is when i click cancel I remain on the same page but now no links work neither link A nor link B. I guess there is some problem with the state my page is in . How i can avoid this?   Hi all, I'm working on a music app' in Python and would like to use the fractions module to handle time signatures amongst other things. My problem is that fractions get simplified, i.e.: >>> from fractions import Fraction >>> x = Fraction(4, 4) >>> x Fraction(1, 1) However, it is important from a musical point of view that 4/4 stays 4/4 even though it equals 1.   I have a generic function that is constrained to struct. My inputs are boxed ("objects"). Is it possible to unbox the value at runtime to avoid having to check for each possible type and do the casts manually? See the above example: public struct MyStruct { public int Value; } public void Foo<T>(T test) where T : struct { // do stuff } public void TestFunc() { object o = new MyStruct() { Value = 100 }; // o is always a value type Foo(o); } In the example, I know that o must be a struct (however, it does not need to be MyStruct ...).
