• ArrayBlockingQueue - How to "interrupt" a thread that is wating on .take() method

  I use an ArrayBlockingQueue in my code. Clients will wait untill an element becomes available: myBlockingQueue.take(); How can I "shutdown" my service in case no elements are present in the queue and the take() ist wating indefenitely for an element to become available? This method throws an InterruptedException. My question is, how can I "evoke" an Interrupted Exception so that take() will quit? (I also tought about notify(), but it seems I doesnt help here..) I know I could insert an special "EOF/QUIT" marker Element but is this really the only solution? UPDATE (regarding the comment, that points to another question with two solutions: one mentioned above using a "Poisoning Pill Object" and the second one is Thread.interrupt(): The myBlockingQueue.take() is used NOT in a Thread (extending Thread) but rather implements Runnable. It seems a Runnable does not provide the .interrupt() method? How could I interrupt the Runnable? Million Thanks Bernhard

• Continue NSURLConnection/NSURLRequest from a given Byte

  I am working with a web service right now that requires me to upload video binaries straight to their web form via the iPhone SDK. Simple enough. The part that is getting me though is when the connection is interrupted, they want me to be able to continue the upload from a given byte. So here is what I have: the original data & the last byte uploaded What I need to know: how can I continue the data from that byte? I seems like it would be something similar to truncating NSData by the byte but I do not know how to do that for an NSURLConnection/NSURLRequest. Thank you!

• Perl : how to interrupt/resume loop by user hitting a key?

  Hi all: This is for debugging purpose. I've got a for loop that generates some output to Cygwin bash's CLI. I know that I can redirect outputs to text files and use Perl or even just a normal text editor to inspect the values printed out for a particular iteration, just feel that a bit painful. What I am now thinking is, to place a special subroutine inside the for loop, so that it would be "interrupted" at the beginning of each iteration, and Perl script should only resume to run after user/programmer hits a key(the Enter Key from keyboard?) In this way I can directly inspect the values printed out during each iteration. Is there a simple way to do this, without using additional libraries/CPAN ? • Can I make ungetc unblock a blocking fgetc call?

  I would like to stuff an 'A' character back into stdin using ungetc on receipt of SIGUSR1. Imagine that I have a good reason for doing this. When calling foo(), the blocking read in stdin is not interrupted by the ungetc call on receipt of the signal. • Firefox error for signalR, but does not effect anything

• Magento connect stuck while installing

  Hi Everyone, I am facing this problem while installing extensions, themes basically anything from magento connect. When I enter the extension key and click install It just gets stuck and even when it says done and I try and go back on admin page it says "There are PEAR processes running. If you will close the window or navigate away from the page, installation will be interrupted. " Has anyone faced this problem. I am working on ubuntu 9.1 and having magento 1.4.   I have two threads, one updating an int and one reading it. This value is a statistic where the order of the read and write is irrelevant. My question is, do I need to synchronize access to this multi-byte value anyway? Or, put another way, can part of the write be complete and get interrupted, and then the read happen. For example, think of value = ox0000FFFF increment value to 0x00010000 Is there a time where the value looks like 0x0001FFFF that I should be worried about? Certainly the larger the type, the more possible something like this is I've always synchronized these types of accesses, but was curious what the community thought.

  I'm using sigprocmask as follows: void mask(){ sigset_t new_set,old_set; sigemptyset(&new_set); sigaddset(&new_set,SIGALRM); sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, &new_set, &old_set); } and to my surprise a function which prints a big list somehow gets interrupted by the signal, even though I invoke mask() at its beginning. It looks as if mask fails, since my function doesn't invoke any other functions and therefore nowhere in its run should an unmask() happen. What can cause sigprocmask to fail?

• APNS Sending Frequent Notifications to Device

  I'm trying to mimic a pager with my app by sending push notifications to the user until he or she responds. My thought was to send a push every few seconds and play the default sound on arrival. Not perfect, but better than nothing. It's working all right. However, I am finding that the sound starts to stutter/interrupt a bit after a few notifications have been sent -- as if it's trying to play the sound more than once. This happens even if I only send the push every 10 seconds. I just tested it at 20 second intervals and even then it starts to sound interrupted after about 10 times. Any idea how to resolve this so each message plays the sound crisply? p.s. Testing performed on an iPad.

So I get things like this: ::select(): Interrupted system call I hit this problem a while back, gave up, and moved on. But I would really like to be able to profile my code, using gprof if possible.   I'm looking for a way to allow a user to upload a large file (~1gb) to my unix server using a web page and browser. There are a lot of examples that illustrate how to do this with a traditional post request, however this doesn't seem like a good idea when the file is this large. I'm looking for recommendations on the best approach. Bonus points if the method includes a way of providing progress information to the user. For now security is not a major concern, as most users who will be using the service can be trusted. We can also assume that the connection between client and host will not be interrupted (or if it is they have to start over).

  I'm building an application that listens on both TCP and UDP, and I've run into some trouble with my shutdown mechanism. When I call Thread.interrupt() on each of the listening threads, the TCP thread is interrupted from listening, whereas the UDP listener isn't. To be specific, the TCP thread uses Socket.accept(), which simply returns (without actually connecting). Whereas the UDP thread uses DatagramSocket.receive, and doesn't exit that method. Is this an issue in my JRE, my OS, or should I just switch to (Datagram)Socket.close()?

But I just realized today that its not thread safe at all. If this thread gets interrupted right after the first (PendingOrder.Count 0) check has returned false. And then the other thread both enqueues an order and sets the NewOrderEvent before I get a chance to wait on it, the body of the while loop will never run. What's the usual pattern used with a Queue and an AutoResetEvent to fix this and do what I'm trying to do with the code above?

  I have a small problem with my game.. I wanna stop my game whenever it's interrupted. My stopGame method was working when I called it in applicationWillResignActive when I was using xib files. When I changed it to storyboards, it stopped working.. applicationWillResignActive still works with storyboards and my stopGame method is called, but for some reason, my game does not stop.. • Watchguard Firewall WebBlocker Regular Expression for Multiple Domains?

  I'm pretty sure this is really a regex question, so you can skip to REGEX QUESTION if you want to skip the background. Our primary firewall is a Watchguard X750e running Fireware XTM v11.2. We're using webblocker to block most of the categories, and I'm allowing needed sites as they arise. Some sites are simple to add as exceptions, like Pandora radio. That one is just a pattern matched exception with "padnora.com/" as the pattern. All traffic from anywhere on pandora.com is allowed. I'm running into trouble on more sophisticated domains that reference content off of their base domains. We'll take GrooveShark as a sample. If you go to http://grooveshark.com/ and view page source, you'll see hrefs referring to gs-cdn.net as well as grooveshar.com. So adding a WebBlocker exception to grooveshark.com/ is not effective, and I have to add a second rule allowing gs-cdn.net/ as well. I see that the WebBlocker allows regex rules, so what I'd like to do in situations like this is create a single regex rule that allows traffic to all the needed domains. REGEX QUESTION: I'd like to try a regex that matches grooveshark.com/ and gs-cdn.net/. If anybody can help me write that regex, I'd appreciate it. Here is what is in the WatchGuard documentation from that section: Regular expression Regular expression matches use a Perl-compatible regular expression to make a match. For example, .[onc][eor][gtm] matches .org, .net, .com, or any other three-letter combination of one letter from each bracket, in order. Be sure to drop the leading “http://” Supports wild cards used in shell script. For example, the expression “(www)?.watchguard.[com|org|net]” will match URL paths including www.watchguard.com, www.watchguard.net, and www.watchguard.org. Thanks all!

  I have a very simple website running PHP and SQLite 3.7.9 (with PDO). After establishing the SQLite connection I immediately execute the following queries: PRAGMA busy_timeout=0; PRAGMA cache_size=8192; PRAGMA foreign_keys=ON; PRAGMA journal_size_limit=67110000; PRAGMA legacy_file_format=OFF; PRAGMA page_size=4096; PRAGMA recursive_triggers=ON; PRAGMA secure_delete=ON; PRAGMA synchronous=NORMAL; PRAGMA temp_store=MEMORY; PRAGMA journal_mode=WAL; PRAGMA wal_autocheckpoint=4096; This website only has one writer and a few occasional readers, so I don't expect any concurrency problems (and I'm even using WAL). Every couple of days, I've seen this error being reported by PHP: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'PDOException' with message 'SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 10 disk I/O error' in ... Stack trace: #0 ...: PDO-exec('PRAGMA cache_si...') There are several things that make this error very weird to me: it's not a transient problem - no matter how many times I refresh the page, it won't go away the database file is not corrupted - the sqlite3 executable can open the database without problems If the following pragmas are commented out, PHP stops throwing the disk I/O exception: PRAGMA cache_size=8192; PRAGMA synchronous=NORMAL; PRAGMA journal_mode=WAL; Then, after successfully reconnecting to the database, I'm able to reintroduce these pragmas and the code with run smoothly for days - until eventually, the same error will occur without any apparent reason. I wasn't able to reproduce this error so far, so I'm clueless about the origin of it. I'm really curious what may be causing this problem... Any ideas? • Exchange 2010 add mailbox server to DAG error

  Hello, i'm having some problems when adding a second mailbox server to my DAG in Exchange 2010. The test setup goes like this: 1x windows server 2008 (DC/DNS) 2x windows server 2008 (Exchange 2010) I have made sure all services are up and running and that the "Exchange Trusted Subsystem" account is set as a local admin. When i create a DAG i can add the first mailbox server (A) without any problems, but when i go to add the second (B) it gives me an error saying "Unable to contact the Cluster service on 1 other members (member) of the Database availability group. It does the same if i add (B) first and then try to add (A). • Troubleshooting transient Windows I/O "The parameter is incorrect." errors

  We have a set of .Net 2.0 applications running on Windows 2003 servers which have started experiencing transient "The parameter is incorrect." Windows I/O errors. These errors always happen accessing a file share on a SAN. The fact that this error has happened with multiple applications and multiple servers leads me to believe that this is an infrastructure issue of some sort. The applications all run under the same domain account. When the errors occur they generally will resolve themselves within a few minutes. I can log in to the application server once the error starts occurring and access the file share myself with no problems. I have looked at the Windows event logs and haven't found anything useful. Due to the generic nature of "The parameter is incorrect.", I am looking for additional troubleshooting suggestions for this error. A sample stack trace is below. Note that while this example was during a directory creation operation, when the problem is occurring, this exception is thrown for any file system operations on the share. • Can you use SQLite 64 bit odbc from powershell

  Basically, my question is "Does this combo work for anyone," and, "Can you see what I am doing wrong" I have installed 64 bit ODBC driver for sqlite, downloaded from this page. I am running powershell version 2 on window 7. In ODBC configuration I create a system DSN with name LoveBoat, pointing at a valid file. I don't have any "real" apps to test whether the ODBC connection works, but a simple program I list below works.
