• Mercurial (hg) commit only certain files

  Hi I'm trying to commit only certain files with hg. Because of of hg having auto-add whenever I try to commit a change it wants to commit all files. But I don't want that because certain files are not "ready" yet. There is hg commit -I thefile.foo, but this is only for one file. The better way for me would be if I can turn off auto-add as in git. Is this possible? thx

  I am running a wsgi based application that has concurrent users accessing it. For my logs needs I tried logrotate but found that logrotate is not too friendly to Python applications, so I tried using RotatingFileHandler and even worse found my logs all chopped up and part of it went missing! I am considering ConcurrentRotatingFileHandler, my question is, has anyone out there experienced the same thing and better yet do you have any battle tested solution for Python wsgi, concurrently accessed applications?

  Is there a way to make Notepad++ auto-complete words on Tab instead of Enter? Currently, if want to type, say, frame, then Enter to begin a new line, instead the Enter will select the first auto-complete suggestion, like frameElement:      I do want the auto-complete feature, but I'd rather have a key like Tab do the actual selection, because Enter is frequently purposed toward starting a new line, whereas Tab is rarely used to indent after a word (since indenting is usually done at the start of lines), and so perhaps would be better repurposed toward auto-completion.

Servers are both Windows and Linux, so licenses are also good to track with all of this information. Scale of the infrastructure in question - 20-50 servers. I've heard CentOS performs better under load, however I am aware that Debian has a much larger package repository. • ubuntu usb that can be booted on mac and windows?

  I am a little frustrated having to use to separate USBs for booting on mac and windows. Is there a way that I can have the version for mac and the version for windows on one USB? or even better, one version that can be booted on both? I have heard of multibootiso, but I'm not entirely sure that it will work on imac. If needed, I am willing to use terminal to make this happen, even if its a long complicated process.

  From what I can tell this is recent error that has started to occur on my localserver: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10048). My site will work for a while then it will randomly throw this error then start working again. Any advice on how to fix this? I have searched online and most people claim that it is a windows based error which needs a registry fix but I wanted to see if anyone else has encountered this issue and has any better advice? I have been able to attain 90 megabytes per second on a PCI-E interface, but the USB 2.0 bus has a theoretical limit of 480Mbit/s, and in practice less than 40 megabytes per second. Is the actual throughput attainable with such a card under linux 40, 30, 20, or even as low as 10 megabytes per second, eg. no better than a normal 100BaseT network card?

I am currently dumping the following way: ${MYSQLDUMP} --single-transaction -u ${MUSER} -h ${MHOST} -p${MPASS} $db | ${GZIP} -9 > $FILE From my understanding this locks the database and prevents any type of use of the database and can even lock up websites. Is there a better way to maybe do daily/hourly backups of the MySQL database should the database be in the 100mbs and even 1gbs in size?

  I have a simple question, but am not a hardware specialist. I have a small low-budget server with 512 Mb SD RAM, 400 Mhz. I have an extra 256 lying around, but it's 333 Mhz. I know I can add it to the system, and that it would automatically adjust the 400Mhz to 333Mhz. But my question is, which is faster/better for performance: 512 at 400Mhz, or 768 at 333Mhz?

I tired using Apache mod_rewrite: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP:X-Forwarded-Proto} !https RewriteRule !/status https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R] Taking advantage of the X-Forwarded-Proto header added by the load balancer, this rule should instruct the users browser to request the HTTPS version of the same URL. So far It doesn't work (no redirection happens). What am I doing wrong? Is there a better way to do this?

  Is it possible to have IIS (6 or 7.5) return a 404 Not Found (instead of 403 Forbidden) when a disallowed directory listing is requested? A security scanning service I use thinks the 403 is revealing something "potentially sensitive", when in fact it's just not a valid URL. My workaround is to drop a default.aspx into each directory that returns an empty 404 page, but there has to be a better way...

  Suppose I click on a java app's icon, and the app starts normally. How can I find out the path to the java executable that is running the app? Better yet, is there a way to find the exact command-line invocation of java that would have the same effect as double-clicking on the icon? (Note: I'm aware of open -a, and it is definitely not what I'm asking about here. The command-line invocation I'm interested in should begin with java ..., specify a classpath, etc.)
