• How do I cache RSS feeds in order not to miss entries on client side?

  I'm using a client side RSS reader and turn on my PC at night. But some RSS feeds publish only a limited number of entries and old entries are removed from the feed. So sometimes I can miss entries. In order to avoid that, I want to cache feeds on some web service. Is there something like it? Although I know server side readers like Google Reader solve this problem, I still like client side readers.

• Forward my http requests blindly through to a new server

  I need to forward any http request from my old server IP to my new IP. I migrated servers and there are a few domains that have a high TTL and I could not update. Is it possible to take all HTTP requests from one server running centos/whm/php/apache 2+ and forward them to the new ip? Since I have hundreds of domains I'd prefer a solution that involves running an app on the linux box that will push requests automatically to the new box. Thoughts? Cheers

  Is there a way to manage a Hyper-V cluster that runs on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter from a Windows 8.1 Pro workstation? I've downloaded and installed the Remote Server Admin Tools for 8.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39296), but when I enable the Hyper-V manager, it tells me that I can't manage Hyper-V servers on 2K8 or 2K8R2. Related, the Failover Cluster Manager barfs with a similar error. How do I manage my old servers with my new workstation?

• OEM sound card with no drivers or support

  I thought my sound card was going out so I bought a sound card online. Everything seemed to work ok, I do have sound. But after a few months, I noticed the extra software that downloaded with the sound card drivers didn't work. I ended up contacting creative and after a month of e-mail support, they asked for the serial number and/or model number. Their reply back was I had purchased an OEM sound card and they could not provide support for that, and informed me that that is why their drivers and software didn't work. They informed me that I had to contact the company that distributed the sound card and install their software. Is there anything I can do to find out who distributed this sound card, or is there anything I can do to get other features to work? I have 4 speakers and a sub but only 2 speakers produce sound. The only control I have is the volume. Creative's driver update program will find my sound card, download updates and even added software, but if I try to click on a downloaded program like Creative's Toolbox or Media Center, I get an error that it cannot find the devise. That is why I contacted creative in the first place. EDIT Thanks for the responses everyone. Here's an update. I thought I'd go thru my old computer stuff for my classes at school. I have a lot of old stuff saved, boxes and cables and stuff. I found the box the sound card came in. It looks like a box you'd buy at the store, like Best Buy or CompUSA. I worked with creative for such a long time, it went past the point of being able to return it to the junk online store this shipped from. The box did have an install CD, so I thought I'd start over to reinstall the drivers and software that shipped with the card. I noticed that the install would uninstall a program, then reinstall it. so I thought things were working out. But no good. Everything still works but the programs were still bad. I'd get an error trying to load them - not found. I'll look on the card the next time I get a chance and see if I can spot any kind of name on it.

• Why my samba printer is not visible (after boot) until i restart smb ?

  I've an old hp1100 and ubuntu 9.10 and now upgraded to lucid prerelease. I can't see my printer on network (using smb://mycomputer on nautilus or \mycomputr from xp). As long as i will not restart smbd (on lucid: sudo restart smbd) my printer is not visible as network share. All file shares are always visible. My printer is visible and working after smbd restart Any clue what might cause this ?

• Lightweight ad-blocker for firefox

  On a old machine (512 MB RAM) I am currently running ubuntu jaunty and firefox 3.0.15. I tried the ad blocker addon add block plus but it eats lots of RAM (300 MB). Is high memory load of this add-on a bug, which is fixed in a newer version or just normal? If so, why is the memory usage so high? Is there another ad blocker add-on for firefox or another browser- add-on combination for linux (ubuntu jaunty) which uses significant less RAM?

• Disable writing RAID degraded mode

  I have a RAID5 with 5 disks on my machine and suspect the motherboard chipset to fail at some points and make my raid going in degraded mode. Last time it happened I noticed it on the failure of the 2nd drive connected to the same chipset and lost a lot of data. So I would like to prevent this, and especially I would like to have mdadm disable writes on the raid if one of the disk fails. So that in between I get notified, I recover and can use my system again. Sadly I could not find it in man mdadm so I was wondering if this is possible via a tool or hidden option since for me it looks like a standard feature of a RAID system. If this is not possible I would also be happy with a solution to stop the raid if degraded.

  I want to graph (graphical output would be great, i.e. a .png file) the following situation: I have users A, B, and C. I limit their resources so that when all users run a CPU intensive task at the same time, those processes will use 25%, 25%, and 50% of CPU. I know I can get the real-time stats using top but have no idea what to do with them. I've searched through the huge top man page but haven't found much on the subject of outputting data that can be graphed. Ideally, the graph would show a span of maybe 30 seconds.   Hello. I have a long running process on a server running Ubuntu Server 9.10. I would like to make it run under the SCHED_IDLE policy using the chrt command. However, after reading the man page, I can't manage to understand the proper way to issue the command for a running process.   After my old computer died I wanted to download my music collection from Google Music - which is very easy with Googles Music Manager. After a few hours it had downloaded my library, but also showed around 300 download errors. Downloading the library another time, however, made different files fail (Which tells me that the error isn't connected to the files as such).   Hello, I've just bought a Samsung XL2370 with a native resolution of 1920x1080. Should a Radeon X1300 be capable of shifting around windows on a screen that size? Because maximising and minimising windows, scrolling in Firefox and VS2008 seems very slow and jerky. Does the Radeon X1300 have any hardware accelearation? My old display was only 1028x768 and I never noticed any problems. Maybe is it time to buy a new graphics card? Thanks, AJ

• Wireless won't connect at home but works elsewhere

  My laptop connects via a wire into the modem fine and it works without any problems but it wont connect to it wirelessly, when I've taken it out places it connects fine in wifi area's!
