  • MSDCS zone missing

    I seem to have an issue with our AD/DNS, the structure looks like: but the BPA gives me an error: Issue: The Active Directory integrated DNS zone _msdcs.<domain> was not found. Impact: DNS queries for the Active Directory integrated zone _msdcs.<domain> might fail. Resolution: Restore the Active Directory integrated DNS zone _msdcs.<domain> Now we've got 4 DC's in total: 2 running Server 2008 R2, 2 running Server 2003. The older ones will be retired sometime this year. Actually everything seems to be working ok (if something isn't then we don't know about it), we've got quite a few .NET applications authenticating against AD, no DNS issues from what I can tell and various bits on the network point to all 4 controllers. Furthermore a dcdiag /dnsall comes up with all passes. Is this something I should be worried about?

  • Can I Be Alerted On-Screen Each Time Someone Remote Desktop's Onto My Windows 2003 Server

    I work all day on a Windows Server 2003 machine and have noticed people "borrowing" my machine by using Remote Desktop to log in. This is pretty much "normal behaviour" at the company I work at, but I'd like to know when this is happening. Is there any way I can be alerted each time someone remote desktop's onto my server? A simple "Bob has logged in" would be great - and I imagine there is a facility somewhere to enable this.

    How does one add a workstation account to the agsadmin group on the server? Does this require both machines to be on the same Windows domain? A colleague cannot connect via ArcCatalog but I don't know how to add his account to the group because the account does not exist on the server. (Oddly I can connect from my machine, but my account is also not a member of the agsadmin group.)

  • Technet and trying to install Windows Server 2008 R2

    I'm a bit new to Technet and just trying to work my way round things. Firstly I want to install Windows Server 2008 R2 as I believe this is the latest edition - however when I look to download it from Technet, it will only allow me to download the Windows Automated Installation Kit. Does this have Windows Server 2008 R2 embedded in WAIK or is there some other extra step to do? Or am I just doing this all wrong :)

  • Cross-forest GPO between 2003 and 2008 Denied Beacuse it's "Inaccessible"

    I have a two-way, non-transitive trust between two forests and domains, "W2003" and "W2008". In W2008 I have a GPO with user settings linked to a machine OU containing machine "Server". The GPO applies to Authenticated Users. Cross-forest loopback processing is enabled in merge mode. When I log onto Server as User (whose account exists in the W2003 domain), the GPO does not apply. I run RSoP and see that the GPO is "Denied" for the reason "Inaccessible." The GPO name is not listed, but the GUID is. I have checked the file-level permissions on the DC to ensure that User has access to read the GPO's folder and all its contents. What is going on?

    I'm planning on installing nVidia proprietary drivers on my Ubuntu 10.10. Historically this always ends-up with me being left with no graphical interface. No ability to revert - and reinstalling the whole system. So now, before trying this anew, I wish to backup all relevant config files. I'll try 1 or 2 methods. I'll list each one's commands. I'll appreciate if anyone can tell me how to backup the relevant file, or what's the reverse of this operation. 10x, David Method I - as described here: apt-get --purge remove xserver-xorg-video-nouveau As described in this answer: edit /etc/default/grub and add the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nouveau.modeset=0" sudo update-grub Reboot Install original drivers downloaded from nVidia site.   • Connect server to router with workstation in between?

    I have a server (9 yr old Dell with Ubuntu 10.04 Server Edition) and a workstation (Laptop with Vista) which are both connected to a router. The workstation is able to access the server via web browser for testing my web development projects. Since the server is old and does not have a wireless card, I am wondering if it is possible to connect the server directly to the workstation while maintaining the ability to connect to the server from the workstation. The reason is that the computers are in a separate room from the router and I am trying to limit the amount of wires on the floor, along with trying to avoid buying more hardware (like a wireless card).   • Hyper-V extensible virtual switch disables network

    I just installed the Hyper-V role on my Windows Server 2012. It comes with something called a "Hyper-V extensible virtual switch". I assigned it to the only network card in my server. By doing so, the network card became useless/disabled/inactive/.. because the virtual switch disabled all features (IPv4, IPv6, Client for Microsoft Networks, ...) on the network adapter. Is this supposed to happen? I admit I've no idea what this "extensible virtual switch" actually does. A short explanation would be nice as well.

    I'm looking for advice on how to enable our team to take down and re-start our company systems for maintainance purposes. The scenario includes several Oracle db machines several MS SQL Server machines with multiple instances windows services (IIS etc.) BizTalk EAI solution Apache and Tomcat instances lots of scheduled tasks on win2003 and win2008 machines (physical and virtual). The main focus is on capture all dependencies between said databases and services and tasks connecting to them. At the moment an enterprise class solution is not an option. We are considering developing a solution driven by PowerShell scripts but I hope for some more suggestions.

I use top, but it shows nothing that stands out for a particular script from a particular user. I have suPHP enabled with PHP 5.3x and MySQL 5 as well.

WebCenter is basically the new Portal framework in the Oracle stack - and one key thing that portals do is work with content, allowing you to compose and publish content from files as well as save and store content. In this demo you'll see how using a set of taskflows provided by WebCenter you can add a file management, creation and viewing capabilities to a regular ADF application. To try this out you don't need any fancy content management system - we'll just use your file system for now. All you need is the WebCenter extension installed in JDeveloper, and then you can follow the demo on your own JDeveloper instance. You'll define a connection to your content repository you'll be able to add a bunch of pre-built WebCenter taskflows into your page.   • SQL 2008 publisher -> SQL 2000 subscriber: Is a pull subscription possible for merge replication?

    I am trying to synchronize a SQL 2000 SP4 subscriber to a SQL 2008 publisher via a merge pull subscription. When the subscriber tries to run the merge agent, it fails the following error: The process could not connect to Distributor 'OH05DBS002\SAM_SSG_2008'. SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Has anyone had success with this setup? I was able to create and synchronize a push subscription so I know that communication works between the two, at least from 2008-2000. The lack of communication from 2000-2008 also affects the ability to create a linked server on the SQL 2000 subscriber. One other tidbit - I did install the SQL 2008 native client on the the 2000 box but it didn't help either. Before anyone asks, I can't upgrade the subscriber as it still needs to support replication between MS Access 2003. Yeah, I know. :) TIA, Brian

    I'm making a game that uses an Entity/Component architecture basically a port of Artemis's framework to c++,the problem arises when I try to make a PlayerControllerComponent, my original idea was this. class PlayerControllerComponent: Component { public: virtual void update() = 0; }; class FpsPlayerControllerComponent: PlayerControllerComponent { public: void update() { //handle input } }; and have a system that updates PlayerControllerComponents, but I found out that the artemis framework does not look at sub-classes the way I thought it would. So all in all my question here is should I make the framework aware of subclasses or should I add a new Component like object that is used for logic.

I have the DNS settings in GoDaddy like this: A (Host) Host: '@' Points To: IP MX Record Priority: 0 Host: 'mx' Points To: @ Is there anything in IIS that needs to be done to make mx.domain.com work as a mail server that can be used in other domain names? Additionally, On the firewall, I have the Outbound port 25 open, not sure, should I be opening port 25 on Inbound as well?
